The Kings Arms

A city with so much history - a photograph of the Kings Arms in the 1890s when it was known as the Ouse Bridge Inn.

Where we got engaged,aside river great scenes n such a lovely pub/staff..we come here alot n recommend to anyone.:) X

Visited this lovely pub in Sept 2015 for my birthday weekend celebration . Was over from Majorca and really enjoyed the atmosphere .

Some nice bottles o' beer... tad pricey and tad small... but nice enough

We wos asked b quite,as boss lives above pub & wos poorly .wot they expect a pub b quite or wot

Visited the King's Arms on a day trip to York with 7 other girls(not a hen do just a nice girly day out) Pub might be nice but the staff certainly weren't. Served by whom I asume was the manageress who tutted when we all wanted to pay for our own drinks and she mumbled god this is going to take ages. We sat at a table inside but she refused to give me my wine in a wine glass and said it HAD to be in a plastic one even though they had a full rack of glasses behind the bar.A man who was sat at the table next to us was then thrown out for singing! Don't go if you want to enjoy yourself.

They should be reported for only wanting to serve people with the British nationality. I'd prefer giving them no stars, but hey, facebook won't let me.

They ID'd me, which is fine. But then didn't accept my ID as it is a Dutch Driver's licence, and therefore "not recognised as a legal UK D.o.B.... Couldn't get served. Welcome to Brexit. And goodbye Kings Arms, won't be going here again. For all you sell vegan beer, you are not kind to humans.

Racist, unpleasant staff. Dreadful, hateful place.

I so wanted to give this place a 5 star rating, but unfortunately one jobsworth member of staff completely shattered it for me.



Absolutely fantastic beer, great choice, exceptionally low price (£1.88 a pint!!!), amazing location, just for God's sake don't read the menus and whatever you do, DON'T LOOK AT YOUR PHONE!

I have been drinking and spending my money there yesterday and again today. My partner and our two new English friends who had also been there all afternoon were refused another drink. We were laughing and having a great time which is what I thought happens in a old English pub. We were not even told a reason why, was it because i paid for a drink with coins or that we were having a good time. I will be taking back my very positive reviews to other international visitors to York.
