We went for afternoon tea for 3 but they only do it for 2 or 4 but we were told 2 would be plenty so we opted for that. Wow they were 100% right because there was plenty and it was absolutely gorgeous. That combined with looking/buying plants for the garden was well worth the money spent (which wasn't much at all!). Would definitely recommend

User

Very nice food, very helpful and obliging staff. I shared an afternoon tea with my daughter which was fantastic value for money. I had asked for none of the sandwiches to have butter on but half of them did, apart from that it was all excellent.

User

I went yesterday and was impressed at the speed of service. Food was gorgeous. I love the warm bread you get with the soup. We also had an ice-cream in Woody’s which my 3 year old and I enjoyed very much. My daughter loved the little toy train that circles the ice-cream parlour. The garden centre is super too.

User

Had afternoon tea and it was brilliant, superb cakes and sandwiches and friendly staff. Everything is homemade and scones with jam and cream finished the meal off great.

User

Had a wonderful breakfast, both rooms were busy and it was close to the end of breakfast service, but we had our food within 15 mins. I know from experience there can be a wait for food, but we did well yesterday.

User

5 stars for the ice cream parlor, NOT the resteraunt, had a bad experience there once, will never recomend it, such a simple thing but should never have been brought to a table, sickening

User

We had reserved a table as we expected it too be busy . We ordered and approximately five minutes later the girl came and told us there would be a and delay of five to ten minutes wait . We had to ask for our drinks while we waited. There didn't seem to be a shortage of staff in the restaurant but obviously was in the kitchen. It was well worth the waitI havecto say x

User

Main meals are pricy but when they came we were not disappointed. I had the chicken & bean enchilladas whilst my husband had the burger&onion rings both came with salad & chips. We were stuffed & unfortunately couldn't fit in cake. Does get very busy at lunchtime with several tables already reserved. We will be back.

User

We waited quite a while for our food to arrive fortunately the tea was still hot enough,by the time we were ready for dessert it was a lot quieter,we waited over 20 minutes no one came to even clear the table even though staff were passing all the time,so we paid & left, food good service not so

User

The serving staff were very good, they were friendly and helpful with our queries. However when it came to paying, j was stood at the counter for some time before anybody attended to me. My husband asked a young waiter if anybody could help, and he apologised (guess he wasn't allowed to handle the payment side), but he asked the man who was behind the counter. This man had known I was there anyway, but had continued with his task, and just left me waiting. I wouldn't say his manner was the friendliest, and there was no apology for keeping me waiting.

User

I have visited here quite often and always enjoyed it however yesterday I went and ended up sending 2 ordered of deep fried Brie back as it was undercooked (raw and hard in the middle) upon paying they tried to charge me for it which I argued as I hadn't eaten any of it and then the "chef" came out of the kitchen to argue over the counter with me. This was all in front of other staff (a very embarrassed waitress), other diners and my two year old daughter. Didn't think the service was great and the "chef" needs to learn some manners. Won't be bothering going again which is a shame.

User

First time there sat down and was told we would have to give the seat up within the hour as they had a large booking and would need the table we managed to relocate to another table but had to wait 20mins for our order to be taken 2 coffees and a toasted tea cake then another 30mins to get our order so there would have been no chance for us to have vacated our first table within the hour when we eventually got our order coffee was good.

User

Really disappointing experience, booked a table for 13 people for my grandma's 80th birthday and my aunt visiting from America. When I explained we were here I got told they were struggling to find a table, we were waiting an hour, when the food came some of it was wrong all the afternoon tea benches were mixed up and all over the place, I had to ask for my little boys food over and over again and when I did come it was wrong! My sandwich came as everyone was on to their cake, one of the sandwiches was so hard it couldn't be eaten which was mentioned and a random cheese and pickle sandwich was brought which the party member doesn't like cheese so she just left it which ment she didn't eat. We mentioned our frustration and the lady in charge came over and was arguing with us. The kitchen staff kept staring at our table and laughing. The whole experience was handled badly by the staff and there was not even an apology .

User

Ordered breakfasts for 3 and a bacon butty . Tea and coffee came a good 15 mins before food . When food came no bacon butty. 3 requests as to where it was and 10 mins later arrived. Fried eggs were cold in the yolk. Coffee cold before I could drink it. Paid the bill minus the bacon butty. There is a need for mature staff serving to ensure customer satisfaction. Young people struggled to cope. Won't be going back.

User

If you plan on going here with a large party for afternoon tea I would advise against it. We had a party of 13 (10 adults, 3 kids) with reservations for 2 o'clock. We arrived on time to be told they were not ready and had been very busy and the indication was they may not seat us at all, we finally got seated at 2.30.

Drinks came out with coffee first then the tea. We had 4 cups of tea and only 2 saucers one of which was dirty along with one of the cups. 2 pots of tea, one of which had a busted tea bag in. It took 10 minutes to get that back and 2 of us still never got saucers.

The picnic tables of food were all messed up, meaning your sandwhich could be at one end of the table and your cake in the middle. Didn't make sense that your food could have been on any of the 5 picnic tables sent out.

One persons egg sandwich came out on hard bread which was sent back, only to come back out as a cheese sandwich and told they had run out of egg salad......Wouldn't you come back to let that person know prior to just assuming they wanted cheese instead???.... When she told the "Manager", she didn't like cheese, the manager replied with an "Oh well" and took it back, never to return to see if she wanted anything else...Which we still got charged for at the end of the meal.....One of the other sandwhiches came out AFTER everyone else was finished, and the child's real simple potato and beans was finally delivered correctly 10 minutes before we left.

The food was actually good which is why they got a 2* but NOT ONE person came back to check on us to see if we were ok, and the manager's customer service skills were non existant. She seemed to think we wanted something for nothing, (every single one of us could have paid the £100 bill) when all we wanted was decent service and our food correct. If she had been a little more humble instead of arrogant and apoligizised for the mix ups that were happening then it would have made the experience so much better.

Coming from the USA to spend time with family should have ended today on a happy note, unfortunately that wasn't the conclusion to my vacation.

I wasn't really impressed with the food yesterday it usually is amazing and we enjoy it and the food is warm and fresh!! Both meals were very dry as if they had been under the food warmer all day !! Although Elvis loved the chips my son didn't eat because they was hard!

User

This place used to be so good. Got my order wrong staff gossiping about my complaint replacement meal cold and poorly cooked. Two pieces of bacon cooked together so only cooked on one side shocking. Needs a deep clean tables not wiped between customers........

User

We were stuffed & unfortunately couldn't fit in cake. Does get very busy at lunchtime with several tables already reserved. We will be back.

We waited quite a while for our food to arrive fortunately the tea was still hot enough,by the time we were ready for dessert it was a lot quieter,we waited over 20 minutes no one came to even clear the table even though staff were passing all the time,so we paid & left, food good service not so

We all arrived on time to be told they were waiting for two ladies to finish and they had been very busy we had booked for 2pm and our table was ready at about 2.20 I think we were all hungry including the 3 children there 10 adults so she took all our orders our drinks came first then at 3 the food came by this time the hot drinks were cold all the afternoon teas were mixed up meaning someones sandwitch would be in the middle and cake would be at the end for example we complaind and a lady came out to see us and my niece told her her bread was hard and just said they had been freshly made and was rather rude but my niece kept having to ask for her little boys meal and when it came it was wrong and when it was write we were all nearly ready.to go all we needed was an apology not a free meal we all had enough money to pay for it we spent over £100 that day and thats how we were treat at one point a couple from our party looked over and some of the staff.were stood there laughing at us thats not a good way to treat customers we looked at a few places to go for afternoon tea we all wish we had gone somewere else so my advice is if you have a party of 10 or more dont go to the potting shed.

This place used to be so good. Got my order wrong staff gossiping about my complaint replacement meal cold and poorly cooked. Two pieces of bacon cooked together so only cooked on one side shocking. Needs a deep clean tables not wiped between customers........
