We’ve been today and had a lovely lunch. The service started at the door when the manager held it open for us with our buggy. We had a special meal made for us as my brother is on a special diet and it was served lovely . The food was excellent quality and the service second to none so definitely a lovely highly recommended village pub .

User

We've always had a fabulous time at the Punchbowl including a large family get together in the private dining room. But today they exceeded themselves! I have recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease and eating out can feel like a gamble or an inconvenience but not here, we booked just half an hr in advance and the team and kitchens couldn't of been more accommodating and amazing! Thank you we all had a truly super lunch

User

We had such a fantastic private party upstairs last night. Nothing was too much for Paulo and his team and the food was excellent. It never lets us down and gets better with each visit. Thank you!

User

We had our first ever date at the Punchbowl. Five years ago, we celebrated our 25th Wedding anniversary in the private room upstairs with a fabulous meal for our friends. Lovely meal last night - still great after all these years!

User

We had a lovely Sunday lunch with the family yesterday ! The beef just melted in your mouth. And outside area is lovely sitting in the sun with a beer.

User

The service was excellent, warm and welcoming . Food superb, we will be coming back x

User

The best Sunday Lunch I’ve ever had! Food superb, staff attentive and very welcoming, wonderful service. We will be back!

User

Thank you for making my Dad’s birthday memorable. Super lunch followed by the Punch Bowl birthday surprise. Paulo the service was great. Hope to be back soon

User

My only disappointment here is that I can’t give six or seven stars.

This place sets out to be a friendly village local while offering excellent quality food - and it’s surpassed that goal.

The service is the definition of friendly and personalised - it should be a reference for all other pubs and restaurants to achieve this standard of genuine passion for the one customer in front of you at the time. The staff, and managers are proactive and attentive with the ‘know how’ to give you a good time what ever the occasion. You only have to come here twice and you’re part of the family.

The food quality is hard to find better. It offers a selection from good British style pub food, to the more exquisite treats. Seafood in particular is delivered daily while meats are usually sourced locally. All prepared with utmost care and with pure skill and genius from the chefs.

Finally the setting is idyllic. In a beautiful village, for which I’m sure there is a waitlist to move to? The well aged building is decorated with a balance of comfort and elegance which suits whether you’re attending fancy celebration or just want to chill out after a long day- while maintaining its ancient charms and character. The plentiful and well manicured garden is the best place to chill on the weekend all afternoon... and into evening.

You can’t get better than this.

I loved the use of Indian spices with the game meat in the dishes. For the starter my girlfriend and I shared the Empire Game Platter which consisted of Spiced Pigeon Breast, Venison Shish Kebab and Pheasant Spring Rolls. Then for main course I had a Tandoori Pheasant Breast and my girlfriend had a Moroccan Chicken curry they had as a special. They had a variety of other dishes but my girlfriend and I love spicy food so we went for something more out of the ordinary for a pub and loved it. The interior is plush and cozy with roaring open log fires and the service was exactly on point!

User

Great venue for a 40th birthday meal this evening with several small children in tow. The staff were amazing and we had the upstairs private dining area which has its own lounge where we could entertain the kids without disrupting other visitors to the pub and restaurant. Spot on all round, great venue, brilliant staff, top stuff well done! I'm sure we'll all be back again in the months to come:-D

User

Great food great staff!! Super friendly Our daughter really enjoyed her b'day meal & the candle and cake at the end was a really nice touch! Thanks again, Vicky Xx

User

First time we'd ever found the pub on our journey South on the A1. The beer garden is very pleasant & we were impressed with all aspects of the pub & the landlord serves a cracking pint of Timothy Taylor Boltmaker.

We were so impressed we're thinking of driving an hour back up for the Bank Holiday BBQ!

Give it s try!

User

Fab birthday tea with family, most amazing fish I have had in a long time. Great service. Cannot wait to go back.

User

A little gem hidden away in a quiet village. Excellent inexpensive food, extensive menu, well stocked bar. Friendly efficient staff. Highly recommended.

User

5 stars, not much more to say. Fantastic food at very reasonable prices, attentive staff and a great, busy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

User

5 star Sunday lunch so good to see rare melt in your mouth beef, duck roasted potatoes. Every thing was delicious , very welcoming and the service from the staff was amazing. The pub had a lovely atmosphere. Large car park and a lovely beer garden to sit in wish will be great for our next visit with our dogs. If you haven't had a Sunday lunch here yet I would highly recommended you do.

User

Excellent for dining with twins! Given a great review by Hungry Mamas on Facebook. Great staff, service, ample high chairs, great beer garden, good food. Need to add Sauv Blanc Marlborough to your wine list tho 😉 all it’s lacking is a disabled loo which I’m told is being planned- fantastic! 5 stars then! We will return 😊

User

It has long been one of our favourite pubs, but yesterday one of our party ordered ' pink' beef with her Sunday roAst..it was raw when it arrived, completely unable to cut it.When we eventually we found a waitress to tell, she promised to replace it.She finally brought some slightly better beef about 10 minutes later, by which time her vegetables etc were cold and the rest of us had finished.Nothing was offered in terms of making amends.Very disappointed.
