The Sandpiper

Visited yesterday as i won a free Valentine's meal...really enjoyed it..lovely food...staff was really nice�...isnt the first time we have been to sandpiper and wont be the last � thank you�

Visited yesterday /Monday with wife I had chicken n rib wife had 10 Oz rib eye med rare asked for and med rare delivered quick service very friendly chap served us jack was his name.we live in Surrey so only visit York once in a while for a week .son in laws parents live in hull.we stay at the Toby inn Willerby 10 mins away.but always visit sandpipers twice in the week and Def good value for money and will be visiting again tomorrow wed looking forward too it too after a days shopping in Beverley.

Twenty seven of our family all had lunch together here today. All the food was served as efficiently as possible and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Tried booking everywhere today (mothers day) and everywhere was full. Thought we'd have a last try here before heading home but wasn't hopeful due to everywhere else being full. We walked in and although they were full they made room and brought out extra tables for our family of 6. The guy on the door was amazing. And had the table ready in minutes. He was extremely friendly and happy to help. We ordered and even though it was busy, the food was brought to us fairly quickly, extremely hot and very well presented not to mention tasted amazing and excellent price. Thank you sandpiper for being so accommodating and the excellent service. Will definitely recommend to others and will definitely visit again �

I visited this establishment yesterday lunchtime. I ordered two adult meals and two child's meals. Was asked to check the receipt which I did and paid. When the meals came only one child's meal was brought. The waiter Jack went and ordered another and came back with a second plate so the boys could share while another was being cooked. When I checked my receipt I had only paid for one child's meal so it was totally my fault for not checking it properly when I paid. I offered to pay for the second but Jack said he had sorted it with the manager. Excellent customer service. A well cooked meal and a generous portion for the children. We will return.

First time I've been and the staff are friendly and the food was soooo good! The 4 of us all ordered something different and each one of us were more than pleased with the food! Definitely recommend the chilli cheese burger and the garlic Mushroom steak sauce!...the set turkey roast was also really nice! Good atmosphere in the place too, I'm usually quite critical when I eat out so after looking at the reviews i wasn't how it was going to be but definitely recommend the place :)

Always decent food and a great service. Even catered for our huge party of 26 with no problems at all.

Absolutely stunning food and excellent service I would 100% go here again

Came as a large group today for our Sunday roast, It was all lovely except my turkey was quite dry. Girls at the Bar was very friendly and pleasant. Can’t say the same for the girl who brought our food out to us, she was rude and had a right face on her. I could only assume she doesn’t like her Job. However I think this needs dealing with or you could lose custom.

Yet again it was cold in the pub. Food good though. Went a few weeks ago with my grandchildren and when they sat eating their meal with their coats on it said a lot.

Not been for a long while, used to go every Sunday, but i think it has gone down hill lately, and im sure i got over charged( probs by mistake), but normally pay around £28/30 for three of use but got charged over £40, never noticed until i got home, went back a few week later and told a member if staff but nothing could be done!. Shame

My second time visiting...as before the staff were nice and friendly....but the food wasn’t as nice as the first time...too much mustard in the mustard mash and undercooked vegetarian pie....I wouldn’t let it put me of tho and I will give them the benefit of the doubt

Was really disappointed today got two mixed grills from the special board the meat was tough as hell the eggs well over cooked the waiter was miserable as sin when we asked if he would clean the table. Eaten here often before and always been lovely with friendly staff first time in months we have been back and I would not return again now it seems to have gone down hill unfortunately

My husband and I went to the Sandpiper yesterday for Sunday tea wasn't busy at were told to choose anywhere we liked sit. Plenty of choice drinks and food ordered no problem. Food arrived after about 20 mins. Had to ask for gravy for Sunday lunch as none was brought. Vegetables too soft roast potatoes very mushy steak lots of gristle. We finished our meal and then waited a further 30 minutes before our plates were cleared away no one came back to ask if we wanted a desert. After a further 10 minute wait we decided to leave. We paid at the bar when asked if everything was OK we explained about the disappointment in waiting that long only to be told oh we've got really busy all of a sudden. But we were sat there when it wasn't busy !!!! Will not be returning soon

Disappointing meal today ....BBQ pork hash was really bland ,and the lettuce in the salad had seen better days...shame as my partners meal was ok...waitress apologised and was very friendly but we still had to pay the whole amount for our meal...Eaten here plenty of times and the food was lovely ....but the pub was empty which was really surprising as its usually packed ....Wont be returning in a hurry

Disappointing meal this evening ....My garlic mushrooms chicken tasted of cheese which wasnt very nice. So I decided to have a pudding to try and disguise the cheesy aftertaste but that chocolate fudge cake was disappointing too. I asked for it warm with ice cream, it had been warmed up but was cold by the time it was served. It was also squashed into a tiny dish, yet my partners pudding was well presented on a plate and piping hot. We eat here pretty often and have never had a bad meal but after today's me we won't be returning in a hurry

Well they completely got my order wrong so told me that it would be a five minute wait to then be sat there while everyone was eating and finished there meals and still no food! Went to the bar to cancel my food as didn't feel like eating it in the end and to be told my food was technically free so she didn't have to do anything about it, but would give me a pudding. Was completely rude about it not apologetic at all won't be coming again!

Really looking forward to our Boxing Day meal, worst meal I have ever had! Normally come weekly to Sandpiper and love it but lately the food has gone downhill. Food poor and cold and not enough staff. Feel sorry for the few girls that are in. Never again

Never again, it was a place the full family enjoyed going, but the last 2 times we have been the food has gone downhill with the portion sizes getting smaller ( but prices staying the same or going up), when food arrives it was cold and steak was over cooked and dry,taken of most popular larger for a more expensive one also. Not a family dining experience I will rush back for.
