The Yorkshire Regiment Description
Our full title is "The Yorkshire Regiment (14th /15th, 19th and 33rd /76th Foot)", shortened to "The Yorkshire Regiment" and is abbreviated as "YORKS" [note full capital letters] and individual battalions as "1 YORKS", "2 YORKS" and "4 YORKS".

My dad served in the 1971 Yorkshire regiment he's looking for some old mates if anyone can help , paddy Riley , Joe scally, Jap morrison, ray ensure and titch young his captain was Simmons , hope it's OK to post here , his name was Barry stevenson known as Steve.
My brother signed up in the Green Howards before it became the Yorkshire Regiment. He attained the rank of CSM before he retired.
My great great pop died 1917 was a 4th Yorkie! much respect to the Yorkshire Regiment.
It is only recently i found out about my family history in the West Yorkshire Regiment WWII.
With others in the Durham Light Infantry and Northumberland Fusiliers WWI.
Great Uncle Jimmy Burns is remembered in Tobruk. And Great Uncle Tommy Burns saw his brother go in Tobruk before going to Burma and getting MID.

Back in 87 or 88, my US Army National Gaurd unit from Maryland got to come to Salisbury Plain and train with the 2 Yorks! What a great group of guys. Very professional and well trained. Had a very good time.
