About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Bessacarr, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to read the restaurant menu, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. We serve four types of meat; roast chicken, succulent roast beef, soft turkey and juicy pork all cut and served from our carvery bar straight onto your plate. So it's no wonder we're South Yorkshire's favourite carvery restaurant.

Went on my birthday. Had a lovely carvery. Looked after by a lovely girl. Complementary Sundae, delicious. The lady serving the meat was very polite as well. Every time we've been had nothing to complain about..

User

Took Dad there for an early Father’s Day treat. Dad loves the carvery - plenty of choice. Staff always friendly and helpful . Had a lovely lunch and quality time with my Dad.

User

Stayed for one night only but have to advise the carvery is delicious. Baked potatoes the way your Mum baked them

User

Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely, the meat especially was tasty and tender. Would definitely recommend.

User

Friendly staff who were courteous, helpful and very polite. Food was lovely fresh and hot and will definitely be returning. As a regular visitor was great to see the refurbishment completed and brightens up the restaurant.

User

Delicious food and amazing customer service (our waiter was luke) really nice and polite, definitely recommend, amazing food and amazing customer service especially as I booked last minute as we where driving through Doncaster, was show straight to a table and treated with the up most of respect, never had such a lovely experience at any restaurant

User

Vast improvement . It was opening night food was million times better than it's been for a long time and the server was extremely pleasant and attentive. Let's hope it doesn't slip into it's old ways! Especially being in a prime position

User

come for breakfast every week and had nothing to complain about until yesterday waitress made us feel uncomfy kept looking at us as if we had done something wrong

User

The meats are very good and plenty of choices, the chef was friendly and helpful.

Some of the veggies were overdone, roasted potatoes were fairly hard, not crispy.

Had a bottle of Zinfandel ( I know it’s not great wine ) but it wasn’t particularly cold and was £13 a bottle disappointingly.

But overall £7 for a plate of carvery on a Friday evening is not bad value.

User

It wasn't anything to tell my friends about ,l had gammon and beef my husband had all beef which was very tough and chewy the new potatoes were hard ,the veg wasn't to bad but not a good choice ,also when going to the toilet there wasn't any soap in the dispenser the time we went was 4 30 this is not good at all , don't think we will be going back

User

Foolishly I thought there would be a bigger menu than a carvery. Salad a sandwich or salmon. Saying that the carvery was nice and delicious puddings. Staff were good but the toilets needed a little attention

User

Went for the first time last sunday and was unimpressed. The girls behind the bar had no idea what they were doing - i had to answer multiple questions just to order a white wine spritzer! Then when it came to the carvery the staff were not keeping an eye on what foods were running out and so there was a huge bottleneck at the gravy station because it was empty and it took ages for someone to come with a new one - when it did come it had not been stirred properly and was therefore like water. Wouldn't go to this place again.

User

Went this morning for the 'All you can eat breakfast' - what a disappointment! Despite the restaurant being very quiet with only a few tables occupied, the hotplate was all but empty, with no eggs, beans, potato hash or breakfast yorkies! When I asked a server for eggs, the response I got was a very curt 'well we put some more on when you came in 5 minutes ago so you'll just have to wait!'!! Really? Does it take that long to fry a couple of eggs?? Surely, with a buffet, the chef should be kept well aware of what is running low so that a constant stock can be provided?? When the yorkies eventually came out (10 minutes later) they had no bacon in them, despite being on the menu as 'bacon and onion yorkies' and when we mentioned this to the manager she said 'well we don't put bacon in them in case we get any vegetarians in!' - false advertising at its best right there!! Everything was very overcooked and dried up and the whole thing was a real let down!

User

Well for a start, there was hardly anything on the carvery display for you to get. Then, the beef was all fatty, mash and roast potatoes was that hard it looked and tasted like it was there from dinner time and we went at 8:15pm. Vegetables was hard as they wasn't cooked properly. I always come here and today was the worst I've ever had and it wasn't worth £9.49. Wasn't happy.

User

We have just visited Toby Carvery for the all-you-can-eat breakfast, and it was so disappointing. The sausages and bacon were burnt, the eggs were like rubber, and nothing was restocked. We waited 20 minutes, TWICE, for the breakfast Yorkshire puddings, which were basically their normal Yorkshire puddings with a tiny piece of burnt onion. They are supposed to be filled with onion and bacon, but we were told that they don't put bacon in them so that they are suitable for vegetarians. If that's the case, this is false advertising as the menus and website still advertise them as containing bacon. The potato hash also did not contain bacon. In stark contrast, the Quorn sausages advertised on their menu were nowhere to be seen. Very poor food, and slow at restocking the food, meaning it's not really all you can eat, it's all you can eat after waiting for them to actually serve something!

User

The staff weren't very attentive when we actually saw a member of staff that is because they were to busy pissing about in the kitchen to give two shits about the customers. Sorry to inconvenience them with my presence not that I'm contributing to their wages or anything. Took 20 minutes to fry a couple of eggs, the bacon had been in the pot that long it was solid, there were no mushrooms in the mushroom pot, the overall quality of the food was rubbish. I'm very bitter about my last visit my advice steer clear

User

Service was terrible. They couldn't be bothered. Chef described the beef as "a bit fatty". Over priced for 2 fatty slices and dried up veg. Manager of some sort had the worst attitude as she stomped about treating paying customers like an inconvenience. Your payment system is rubbish and you'd be a much nicer place to be in if you didnt run around after to people to pay. Get customers to pay first then eat! Wont be returning here.

User

Really disappointed me my husband and 3 children came for are tea on Tuesday 4th, we was seated near the cavary counter and there were flys buzzing round are table and landed on are tea. Not once did a member of staff come and ask if everything was ok like they normally do so we ended up leaving are tea and walked to the till to pay and leave. I told the waiter about the flys and he just said he just come on shift so there were nothing he could do we left really disappointed as we normally have tea here every week but wont be back any time soon

User

I visited this morning for a breakfast and was very disappointed there was no staff about when I entered no one at the bar so I just went and got myself some breakfast as when I’ve visited before u payed at the end started eating and I asked a member of staff who came out the back if there were any cups for the tea as none out and the member of staff a tall dark haired guy who looked fed up said u r supposed to pay before u come in and there is a notice up I never saw a notice and one one about when I came in I found him rude u don’t talk to customers like that starting eating and the eggs were awful like rubber I won’t be visiting again which is a same because it used to be nice when I’ve visited previously
