Today Towngate Fisheries owner, Mark Drummond is speaking at The Calorie Reduction Summit on behalf of every takeaway in the U.K., talking about what takeaways can do to help tackle obesity and what government help they need to do so

Lots of people took advantage of out World Cup offer yesterday. (And the team didn’t do too bad for once too) The next game is on Thursday so the offer will be available all day Thursday and then at least once more as they have qualified for the knockout rounds already (it will depend if they finish first or second in the group which day they play the first knockout game)

We had the pleasure of coming up from London to visit good friends in Yorkshire. They had the local knowledge of the area and treated us to the best fish and chips in the UK. The fish was wonderful and cooked to perfection with a delicious batter the chips were wonderful. The shop is immaculate and well presented with a perfect layout so you can see the preparation area which is just as immaculate. The staff are super friendly and answered questions easily and naturally with Yorkshire charm. The menu is spot on with great prices and everything is listed so well making it easy to read and understand. The most impressive bit was calorie counts alongside every item. With such a great experience a sit down restaurant would make a winning formula. Looking forward to coming back for more.

Not too bad. The foods ok and the shop is very well presented. A bit disappointed to be met with a member of staff trying not to laugh when we asked if the chips were gluten free. “No it’s just potato,” saith she with a barely concealed eye roll. “But are the chips cooked in the same oil as the fish and batter because that can transfer over to the chips?” “Oh yes it is but we try to be careful,” she replied.



So no, the chips actually weren’t necessarily safe for my wife who has numerous crippling food allergies. Maybe we should have phrased it better but still, quite disappointing to be met with a look as though we are stupid for asking a reasonable question given the issues my wife has with all kinds of food. So not overly satisfied really. Grump grump grump. Sausage and curry was nice. �

Towngate is the best fish n chips around, we time our trip so that we arrive in Bradford at opening times....

This chippy is simply the best. Really friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Fresh fish and chips at a cracking price; even have a discount loyalty card. It's just a shame there's nowhere to sit in or out and have a meal with the family.

One of the best chip shops. My grandparents are regulars and I went to visit last weekend and on Friday we had some fish and chips from you guys. Wow all I can say is a proper fish cake and none greasy chips which were amazing! They didn't make me ill either will definitely come again when I am next with them! Thank you x

Healthier options and lighter meals at Towngate Fisheries are a real bonus as i have special dietary requirements. This fish shop offers a great selection and is our favourite 'chippy'.

Had a fantastic Saturday lunch from here. Wonderful fresh fish and great chips served by super friendly staff in a exceptionally clean fish shop. Nice you can see the whole of the preparation area too and this looked immaculate. The information in the shop is exceptional - you can see the calories in each dish and realise that it’s not that unhealthy. Well done Towngate!!

Followed the Facebook page a while but don't live close enough, came a few weeks ago with my parents and have to say it was the best fish butty I've ever had, all cooked fresh to order

Cooked just like my parents used to when they had their shop. Fish and chips are rarely cooked this well and far too many other shops fall way short. From the sourcing to the packaging and service it deserves all five stars.

Best fish and chips in West Yorkshire, high praise indeed considering I could easily go to Webster's or Murgatroyd's, both decent but Towngate fish and chips are superior

My second time and second Fish butty Found 3 bones so it's killed it off for me gutted has there a lovely fish but BONES...Is a NO NO for me üëéüèΩ

Have called at this fishshop several times.But do not order the cakes.They are not cooked the first one was virtually raw potato.Then on a second ocassion i got another one this was also not cooked.i informed the gentleman fish fryer of this.He said sorry???? No offer to replace or refund what i had paid for it..needless to say i never bought one again...

Called in last week around 7.40pm one eve I placed an order for a battered sausage & mini fish n chips the server suggested she had a normal sausage left but not a battered one & a battered one would be about 8 mins I said no to the plain and I was fine to wait I only waited about half that time or less & said oh I thought I'd of had a lot longer as I was walking it crossed my mind she had just dipped the already plain one in batter and given me the one that was left .. sure enough she had the lady fryer had dipped the left over plain one instead of making afresh one leaving me with an very overcooked very greasy & very poor battered one the batter was so thin I wouldn't of bothered it also all fell off the moment I unwrapped it .. I was annoyed because I said I was willing to wait & did not want the plain one it was thrown away as it was so poor the mini fish was also very poor .. I'm presuming the poor service was because it was nearing closing time but I'm certain this wouldn't of happened if the fryer had been the man not woman as he is normally very good at customer service I have always enjoyed the food normally & have recommended and always reviewed you with high standards but you need to be consistent with these standards ..
