It’s that time of year where we’re starting to plan our Christmas Market! Last year we only had a small evening event, rather than a full Christmas market - So we want this year to be bigger and better!
We’re looking for stall holders who create bespoke, handmade goods to attend! Our Christmas Market will take place on Wednesday 21st November 12pm-7pm.
If you’re interested please send us an email to hello@walkersnurseries.tv with pictures of your work.
... Thank you. 🎅🏻

User

What a throughly splendid time I had yesterday at Walkers. I say time because although I went for lunch we sat in the sunshine chatting for yonks after our table was quietly cleared of everything but our drinks. We were not hassled to move so we relaxed and enjoyed a super afternoon. On the way out I could not help but recommend to my friend that she picked up “the finest flapjacks ever”. A trip to Walkers is always a joy and a gardening inspiration.

User

We took our 2 granddaughters for lunch yesterday and pleased to say had good service. Food came quickly and judging by their empty plates enjoyed it (we did too)

User

We came today for breakfast with Santa and i wasn’t sure what to expect as we were a big grp with 8 small children, it was so lovely and fantastic value! Every staff member was so helpful and accommodating and genuinely seemed liked they wanted to be there.

Santa him self was fantastic and very athletic x

Would highly recommend

User

Walkers is excellent for meals and snacks the plants and tools are very reasonable. Had afternoon tea which was very good it’s a place to go with friends or partners.

User

Visited today and the cafe/restaurant was really lovely, the staff cannot do enough for you and work very hard and the food is value for money. Would I visit again? Definitely, plenty of space and options where you want to have your lunch and unwind. 5 stars 👍🏻

User

Took my mum out for lunch on friday to walkers and i must say what a wonderful lunch we had!!,Sat outside in the sunshine with the sound of running water from the pond so relaxing it was lovely, Please try the haddock in beer batter to die for!!!thanks walkers will be back!!!!

User

Today was the first time me and my partner visited the centre and it was so surprising!! We enjoyed everything from sitting in the sun at the side of the pond, walking around the beautiful gardens & looking at all the lovely products! I will 100% be coming back

User

Staff couldn’t of been any nicer, I booked for my granddaughter to see Father Christmas for the first time but we needed a quiet time as she is Autistic and can’t cope with a lot of excited children queuing to see him. So I had a word with one of the elves and she said that if we came at 11.30am we would be the last to go in so no queuing which was great. It’s also the best Father Christmas setup that I’ve ever seen and it was great that my granddaughter her mum and myself were the only ones in the room other than the elf and Father Christmas I think this is standered unless you go in a large group of friends. Everyone was wonderful with her and made it a very enjoyable experience even though we think the tree fascinated her more than Santa .

To sum up a 5star exsperance that was really enjoyable for all, and not at all what we were expecting

My daughter and I took the Grandchildren to see Santa and for the breakfast package in the potting shed. Santa was fabulous very calm and softly spoken, his grotto was great. Breakfast afterwards was a very nice cooked breakfast and well organised, we were greeted as soon as we arrived and shown to our table. I would definately recommend this. The children loved it

User

Lovely lunch with my friend yesterday , lovely staff and the grounds and shop are amazing. Living local we come here now and again but never been disappointed yet. We did get a fright though with the electrics going with a bang at the side of my friend, the staff came over to make sure we were ok which was lovely ..

User

Love this place. Great grounds too to walk around. Cafes, plants, grounds and friendly staff....great place, totally recommend it

User

Love this place! Great place to wander round, the walks outside are really lovely. Have had some really nice afternoons going for a meander round the gardens then in for a drink and some cake! The staff are always friendly and helpful and have brought some great gifts for people.

User

I buy your local honey and it is the best I have ever tasted! Great value for money too

User

Have been to Walkers several times for food and plants and a throughly enjoyable time, the staff are always pleasant and accommodating, on the last visit I had a question about the milk in the hot chocolate and the lass gladly went to enquire for me and was very helpful.

As for the food... Wow I've never had a bad meal there... In fact talking about it is making me hungry, all I'd ask is for more of that Tiramusu you had.

Keep it up and a big thank you to you and your staff, who even on the busiest of days are always pleasant and efficient.

User

Had a really enjoyable afternoon great lunch must be the best garden centre in this area

User

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my friend Alison here today thoroughly enjoyed it will be back x

User

Fantastic breakfast with santa, fit us in last minute staff couldn’t of been more helpful and food was lovely

User

Fabulous garden centre with a great range of plants, flowers & trees.

Has a good range of goods plus fresh pastries & cakes.

Very nice separate garden to walk around.

Highly recommended garden centre.

User

Excellent food very resonable price served hot or cold. Great coffee facilities etc

User

Came in today for breakfast with Santa with my two children and what a fab experience. The grotto was fab and Santa really cared about the kids. It was the first time I’ve done anything like that and will definitely be booking again next year. The atmosphere was brilliant. Fab from start to finish.

User

Best garden centre in our area, enjoy a meal in the restaurant. Excellent friendly staff.

User

Amazing place. So much to look at it’s hard to make a choice. Great caffe and restaurant.

User

Absolutely love this place been going since the first time the restaurant opened outstanding fantastic food choices & staff always go the extra mile to help thank you everyone at walkers

User

Our first visit, it was very busy but managed to find a parking space (all the disabled spaces taken) where I could fully open the passenger door to allow wheelchair access for my wife. Car parking area was gravel but well compacted so not a major problem for the wheelchair. It was a little difficult to find and get to the restaraunt as the aisles were narrow and poorly signed. There was a good choice of food on offer and although it was very busy we did not have to wait too long to be served by pleasant staff, the food was excellent and reasonably priced.

User

I bring my husband who has Alzheimer’s regularly for coffee and cake to the Potting Shed the staff are lovely it’s never as busy in there so food for us :)

User

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday however no deserts left at 2pm after walking around punch and judy I could of stuck his baton where the sun don't shine.. I went for a quiet relaxed coffee to hear that annoying voice punch and judy could of been placed someplace else other than at the cafe it was supposed to of been a garden fate but all on offer was gin aprons and painted pebbles nothing reduced for the garden... will be back just a little disappointed but maybe not to a fate

User

Visit walkers often and always call for a coffee and cake , very disappointed that they have stopped dogs going into the potting shed as it is too cold to sit out in the greenhouse. We will have to now look for somewhere else for our cake treat after being very regular customers for many years

User

Very disappointed that you feel that dogs are no longer welcome to the Potting Shed area, can I ask you why you have come to this decision please. I realise that you can sit in the area between the main restaurant and the Potting Shed with your dog, yesterday it was very damp and cold there due to the dreadful weather.

User

Just been tonight for Christmas market been every year for years had to double check to see if it was on tonight when I got home. Where was the market ? Nothing !!nobody about. Sorry but you have got expensive as well ...fab garden centre but not Christmas market !!

User

Disappointed with cafe as hardly anything left to eat also had to pay by card as no Chang’s in till

User

We visit walkers often and love a trip to the restaurant. Unfortunately on my last visit I was very disappointed with the poor customer service and rude behaviour of the lady at the till where we paid for our food. I asked the young gentleman serving food (perhaps a new staff member as I'd not seen him before) for a child's portion for my five year old son, as I have done on every occasion previously, to be told "sorry we don't do children's portions" to which I replied "ok no worries just give me a normal portion then please". Then when I got to the till to pay I asked the lady at the till why they've stopped doing children's portions and she informed me they do in fact do children's portions. I explained that I'd asked for a child's portion and was told I couldn't have one expecting her to just simply apologise, correct the gentleman who made an honest mistake and perhaps charge me for a child's portion as a good will gesture but no....she publicly berrated the gentleman in front of a queue of customers and told him to take the quiche back off me and cut it in half. He politely tried to suggest that was inappropriate and I could see he felt awkward. The lady then very abruptly just told me I had to pay full adult price and put it through the till without giving me chance to question it. As there was a large queue of frustrated customers behind me and as I was quite taken aback I did not want to stand and argue with the lady over something so petty so I just paid and took my food. I wasn't even too bothered about the money it was her bad attitude and rude way of dealing with it that bothered me. It's put me off coming back if I'm honest. I wonder if it was the same lady who scraped half the ice cream away that I read in another customers complaint on here over a similar disagreement over adult/children's portions. I think someone needs some training in customer service! Such a shame as it's a lovely place to visit and the food is yummy.

User

We queued for 20 minutes only to then be told that we were unable to order any breakfast food and they were out of stock. Under staffed, unhelpful and overpriced cafe. Settled for a panini. The garden centre itself however is lovely, would not recommend cafe.

User

Poor service today. Asked if there was a Vegan option in the restaurant to be told there was a Prawn and Tuna filling for the Jacket Potato. Since when has fish been Vegan?. Also asked the Chef who was mumbling through the serving hatch, who abruptly said they can't be bothered with Vegan stuff. You sell Gluten Free, so why not Vegan? You could do with moving with the times here and actually employing friendly staff from time to time with nice attitudes. Might work with your older clientele! Great garden centre but your cafes, have to give the thumbs down am afraid. Slap dash attitude too with the service £8.00 for a Potato and Salad!! Not good at all. Most other places can offer Vegan options so why can't you?

User

We booked a table of 9 (6 adults 3 high chairs) we arrived today, before 12 as the woman on the phone said if it got to after 12 our table wouldn't be reserved which is fair enough. We got there at 11.50 to no table set aside for us. She then proceeded to set aside two tiny tables together which wouldn't of fitted 6 of us on let alone then 3 high chairs. She handed us 3 high chairs and told us to just sort them ourselves. We told her we wouldn't be able to sit there as we wouldn't all fit round. We asked if we could sit outside which then it came apparent you can only have cake and coffee outside. She said she would let us sit outside and have meals which would have to be self service. Which having to drag small children in and out of the busy reasturant is not our idea of fun. As most people can understand with toddlers. The woman was not helpful, and when we asked why this table wasn't set aside she had no answer. We knew there was going to be alot of us hence why we booked a table. If she had explained on the phone they couldn't accomadate us we would have happily gone somewhere else. Which we had to with upset children who were hungry. Luckily we found a local pub which were very helpful and accomadating unlike your staff. It was absolutely ridiculous, and we shall tell everyone about our experience in the hope that like us they will never go.

User

Really disappointed that after numerous visits prior to yesterday everything had been lovely. Yesterday however the cafe refused to warm my babies lunch (as it wasn’t a shop bought jar) or provide me with hot water to make a bottle for her. The member of staff said she could only provide a container to warm a bottle not provide hot water to make it. Needless to say, we left with a hungry baby and bought lunch from elsewhere for the adults.

User

Not a very good place to visit if you are disabled...no parking...had to park at the back of beyond and then struggle of the gravel/stone car park...nearly tipping mum out on 2 occasions...tightly packed cafe no room for the wheelchair without causing obstructions to everyone else..overpriced very dry food...won't be back.

User

Incredibly poor service.

We queued for over twenty minutes... we were told to move into the other queue, to then be told we could have paid where we were to start with. Ordered all of our food for a table of five at the same time, each meal came at around twenty minutes apart, I waited an hour and still hadn’t received mine so politely asked for a refund and as my toddler was restless after waiting so long and needed to leave, to then have the chef come to the table in a confrontational manner and basically accuse us of lying even with the receipt... she stormed off with the receipt with no apology and proceeded to argue with other staff whilst glaring at us in full view of all customers. My dinner was brought out. No apology, refund or anything.

The only positive was a member of staff named Kurt who was incredibly polite and helpful, even though he was no way involved.

User

If it was possible to put zero stars I would. Awful experience in your restaurant today, we booked a table of 9 including 3 high chairs. We were told we had to be there by 11.50 which we were to find our table wasn’t set up. The staff member we spoke to showed us to to a table that wasn’t even big enough for the adults to sit round let alone 3 high chairs and handed us the high chairs to sort ourselves. When we told the lady that this wasn’t suitable she said we could sit outside but we would have to self serve ourselves. Not ideal with 2 toddlers and 2 baby’s. If we were told that you wouldn’t be able to accommodate us on the phone when we rang to book them that would of been fine. The staff member we spoke to was very rude and unhelpful even though she was the one who took the booking she said. We then left and had a lovely meal at the Haxey Gate Inn just down the road who couldn’t of been more helpful and accommodating. Will definitely not be returning to your establishment and will not be recommending you.

User

I ordered two children’s ice creams with a lovely young lady at the ice cream counter. When I took them to the lady at the till to pay she bluntly told the other girl that she had put too much ice cream in the tub. She asked me if I wanted to pay full price or for a child. I replied for a child please. She then scraped the top of the ice cream tub into the bin and handed me this rather than just leaving the ice cream in the tub.

Had a really enjoyable afternoon great lunch must be the best garden centre in this area

Fabulous garden centre with a great range of plants, flowers & trees.

Has a good range of goods plus fresh pastries & cakes.

Very nice separate garden to walk around.

Highly recommended garden centre.
