visited York for three days, such a beautiful place, we enjoyed the nice friendly bars,

Betty's tea rooms was beautiful, River Cruise, The Priory Bar (my favourite) and our hotel Hampton by the Hilton was wonderful,

beautiful area complimented by very friendly people, a stroll along the city walls not to be missed

York stole my heart since at least 39 years . I went over there with my parents , I went over there with a friend, by myself and since 15 years with my husband . We try to visit Every year. We miss iT when we are not over there : the people , the city , the history . I would love to live there , ever since I can remember.

We Just love to take the trouble to go to the ferry and cross the ocean , to go home for a few days in Our beloved York.

York is a fascinating city with an abundance of history. I love York but be prepared to walk and don’t plan to drive in the city as the traffic can be awful on the narrow and often cobbled streets.

York has a rather large population for the UK, yet very peaceful and quiet. All you want to do is stroll within the old city walls. Worth every minute of the visit.

Yoke is a beautiful city with the old signature building of The United Kingdom, It is a clean and quiet city, There are small shops, Cafe & Restaurant, especially "Betts Tea & Coffee", Do not miss a chance to have tea time at Betts. We visited York on Saturday to see Midsummer Nights Dream at Shakespeare Rose theatre, en route to the theatre we called in at the Kings Head on the river front for a very refreshing and much welcome pint of Yorkshire Lager. After the play (which was absolutely brilliant by the way) we made our way back to the station to catch our train back to Scarborough, however it was cancelled. York was particularly busy last Saturday so we headed towards York St John University where we were meeting my daughters husband who kindly offered to pick us up and bring us back to Scarborough...we were walking along Gillygate where we came across the Gillygate pub which which had a fab beer garden, it was away from the crowds and we enjoyed a much deserved cool beer whilst we waited for our lift. All in all a fab day in York, the Shakespeare Rose Theatre was excellent :-) ...if only I could say the same about Transpennine Express. :-/

User

I absolutely loved this part of England. Very different architecture to what I’ve seen in other parts. Lovely independent shops all over town. I highly recommend a visit to this place.

User

Had a great weekend in York with good friends, York has got some wonderful places to visit and some great pubs and beer.York brewery tap and the York Tap (on the train station) are worth a visit, also the Three Legged Mare.

User

Been twice in 2 weeks dying to go again, my absolute favourite city. Can’t believe l got to 47 without visiting York. Loved the culture and the history. York castle museum and the national railway museum were incredible and the people are so friendly. You can keep London.

User

What a beautiful place! I wish I could spend more time in York and hope to someday return. One thing that would make it even better is if the shops stayed open later. We managed enough time to see the sights but didn’t get into the shops before they closed. I would have liked to purchase locally made merchandise.

User

Met a friend up from Devon there last week and also son who is lucky enough to be studying at University of York so a regular trip for us - had a great time it is a beautiful city and the people were great too of course the glorious weather helped !!! Something for everyone- my only criticism would be the streets and pavements are dirty it was a shame didn’t detract from our enjoyment but we did notice it everywhere. I know it’s a very busy place day and night (maybe too many hen and stag parties!) but maybe something could be done. My son the local student loves it but he and his friends never go in on Race Days as the large groups do sometimes get out of control !!! But we will be back !
