Aiken Group recently underwent our annual interim DNV audit of our ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) certification. We received the lowest number of of non-conformity and observations of any of our audits, demonstrating our continuous improvement activities are working at the core of our business. Of course, there is always room for improvement so we have already implemented further measures to reduce our waste to landfill, resource usage and incoming packaging. In light of recent environmental news, Aiken group will strive to bring enhanced environmental performance while continuing to deliver our quality products and services.

Offshore ALQ Aiken Group have recently completed a major project to install a 16 PoB Additional Living Quarters unit on an offshore asset. Contracted directly by the operator, Aiken Group designed the full ALQ including grillage, stairwell, services module, handrails and HVAC systems. The ALQ is comprised of 4 modules containing the living quarters and stairs with an additional services module mounted on top. The modules are suitably blast rated and fire proofed, with high quality furniture and fittings throughout. The design, engineering, fabrication and installation were all completed within 18 weeks.

Aiken Group has supported members of a local fundraising team who put their best feet forward in aid of a good cause. A group of local girls, including some of the company’s staff, took part in the 13th MoonWalk Scotland which was held in Edinburgh recently. The fundraising event is held by breast cancer charity Walk the Walk and sees participants help raise awareness, as well as cash, by donning decorated bras for their night-time journey in the capital. Led by Aiken Group ...Director Louise Urquhart and Sales & Marketing Manager Kelly Davidson, the team of 11 also featured Ann Marie Linklater, Fiona McBain, Lorna Murray, Kirsty Cheyne, Caroline Grant, Claire Dunn, Lindsay Ingram, Elizabeth Morrison and Lillian Paterson In addition to substantial support from Aiken Group, the team also benefitted from sponsorship courtesy of Aberdeen companies R&M Electrical and Step Change Engineering, and the crew of the Fulmar North Sea offshore installation. The generosity of family and friends helped to bring the total raised to £6500 Commenting on the team’s success, Louise Urquhart said: “This is the first time any of us have done anything like this, and it was a great experience. It’s such a great cause to be supporting and having that in mind definitely helped push us on when our feet were starting to get tired!” Kelly Davidson added: “Whether through our work or personal lives, we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer and we hope that, by doing a little bit to help, they know we are there for them and support them, literally, every step of the way.”

3 weeks ago we underwent the 2018 audit and are pleased to see that we have improved upon our already good scores, as outlined by the excerpt from the audit report provided below:
"Aiken Group Limited are actively looking to improve and were able to demonstrate improved scoring across three of the four elements from the previous 2016 visit: Quality remained at 8.9; Health & Safety improve...d from 8.1 to 8.4; Environment improved from 7.7 to 8.2; Competence & Training improved from 7.6 to 7.7."

Aiken recently bid a fond farewell to well respected friend and colleague, when Alex Wood retired after fourteen years with the company. Glasgow-born Alex began his career as an apprentice piping draughtsman and engineer at piping fabrication and installation company Munro and Miller in the early 1960s. From there, he went on to grow his career with a variety of industry names and in a variety of posts, ranging from senior project engineer and construction manager to global ...construction and commissioning manager. Most recently, Alex worked as sales and marketing director for Aiken , based at the company’s global headquarters in Aberdeen. During a career spanning many decades, Alex gathered a wealth of experience both at home and overseas in locations such as Abu Dhabi, Brunei, Japan, Korea and Singapore and Aiken Group was delighted to draw on these years of expertise during his time with the company. Commenting on Alex Wood’s retirement, Aiken Group managing director Danny Donald said: “Alex is the embodiment of the rich and diverse opportunities which exist within the oil industry, and his passion for the industry, he has been part of for so long, is unrivaled. “We as a company feel honoured and privileged to be able to tap into the breadth and depth of experience he brought to us, and we are very grateful to Alex for his commitment, passion and enthusiasm during his time with us.”
