Barchester - Werrington Lodge Care Home

My father resided at Werrington Lodge for 2 and half years. I personally have found all staff to be considerate and kind to dad. The food is of good quality, always has been.
No home is perfect that would be hard to achieve, changes made since 2014 have been significant and ongoing and there will always be room for further improvement as in any home. I believe in being fair and considered in my opinion.
In Hospital were dad was admitted several times, there was no communication to relatives whatsoever, Werrington informed me of every detail from dads health, doctors visits and medication.
In hospital before he went to Werrington he was starved emaciated like a man from belsen camp, disgusting. Cups left full on the side no attempt to give him. Food left on side, dad was incapable of walking feeding himsef, a vulnerable adult in every sense of the word. No one had time.
Werrington he was fed 3 full hot meals every day at Werrington a member of staff sat with him till he finished, he gained weight and looked so much better, thats dedication.
He was vulnerable to pressure sores, very difficult to maintain, I know they looked after his skin with regular turns and he was changed when wet.
So some comments i find bit harsh. I noted how many relatives had no visitors EVER, maybe if families helped bit more freed up a bit of their own time it would help relieve pressure on staff even if its just to help meal times.
You cant have it all!!

Dad sadly passed away and staff was a great comfort. He was content and secure and happy and thats all that matters.

Everyone has a different meaning of the word care and what they expect for their relatives, we have always found the staff to be more than considerate to the needs of the patients in their care.
