We took my 18mth old puppy to this vets because she seemed offside and was passing bloody diarrhoea the vet we saw tested her bowell movement and happily it was negative for Parvo. She then said she would treat her for her diarrhoea and did we want to leave her there overnight to be treated. As we dont really have a lot of money to spare we specifically asked how much it would cost and she gave us a breakdown bill of £410 which we paid but to us is a lot of money but because we love her so much we decided we would find the money but only after she assured us there would be nothing else to pay.Imagine then on picking her up the next day we were presented with an extra bill of £276.50.They then told us that what we had been given the day before was an estimate not a bill as we had been told. Also when the vet phoned to say that we could pick her up my husband askedif there was anything else to pay, he definately said NO but altogether we paid £,686.50 for what in the end was a bout of diarrhoea which I think is definitely far too much.Other people are right when they say they are money orientated. So beware when you go to this place and make sure you have got a big wallet.

We have since learned that vets now operate at this surgery. Our usual vets "hope vets in trentham" are no longer doing out of hours for some reason so we ended up bringing one of our poorly rabbits here. We were basically taken advantage of, emotionally blackmailed and the "vet surgeon" told us that if our bunny wasn't kept in over night at the bargain rate of £600 he would die. He told us he wanted to perform surgery on him and also told us that if we didn't have the money then we would have to make the awful decision of putting him to sleep. I managed to get our bunny out of there after paying £256 fees. We took him to limetree vets in meir park who gave him meds. He's currently sitting in his hutch chomping away at his hay. It's hard to explain properly on here how bad they are but we have had so many pets and have had so many positive experiences with other vets that we know the difference when a terrible one comes along, this is one of them. Please avoid at all costs. Also there are a lot of local vet practices who are recommending "vets now" for out of hours. I really don't think that they are aware of what is going on or maybe they are being lied to. I'm certain that if Deborah at hope vets knew what was going on she would recommend another company for out of hours, or there must be a reason out of her control as she is a genuine animal lover

I am really disappointed and do not recommend. Zero respect for the customer and animals. Only money concentrated. Wanted a simple vaccination, had the visit booked a week before, waited 30 min for the vet and heard that the vaccine would be done without starting an expensive plan. And the vaccine was not even there (thought it just sounded like lying)! Why couldn`t I hear it before I got there? Absolutely no respect for my time and money and for the well being of my very tired and frightened pets! I don`t know it is their usual practice or if they just wanted to rip me off because I`m foreigner but it really was unpleasant visit and I won`t ever use their services.

Have to agree with the majority of the posts appears to me now it's all about money not caring about animals especially from the practice manager and credit manager. Been going to this vets for 35 years sorry to say won't be for a great deal longer which is such a shame the vets and nurses are so
Passionate and caring just as shame that the people dealing with the public are clueless

Unfortunately my experience here has been very similar to those already detailed. Reception staff who were unhelpful and unprofessional when seeking help with a severely ill older dog. Having to wait two days for a callback from a vet. Careless prescribing which left medication one day short of the next visit and then charging to prescribe the additional day. And now, finally demanding payment over the phone for an outstanding balance and having to be asked three times to send an invoice in the post or by email so that it can be reconciled with the insurance paperwork. We did not expect our vet to cure our very ill dog but we did expect our vet to be professional and helpful at a difficult time.

I don't usually submit reviews, but I have to comment on Rogers Brock and Barker at Longton, Stoke on Trent. They have taken care of our family pet's over more than ten years, and the level of care has never been anything less than excellent. They do more than provide a wonderful service, they are understanding, compassionate and very caring. Highly recommended.

Uncaring unhelpful and unprofessional especially the Receptionists/admin staff - don't ever take your pet here. I have had a rescue cat for 4 years and she has needed medication for an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) for the last few months. I ordered the gel/cream she needed a week before she ran out. I ordered it on the Friday and arranged to collect it on the Monday. On the Monday I received a voice message to say it would not be ready for another couple of days. I went into the vets on the Wednesday it was still not there and they said they would order it and it would be in by 3pm on the Thursday. On the Thursday evening I phoned and they said they had nt got it and they would order it and it might be there tomorrow or in a couple of days! I told them my cat didnt have anything left and how many times would they keep telling me the same thing. The receptionist continued to fob me off. I would never ever use them again they cause more stress than enough. They seem too large a practice to care with alot of different Reception staff every time you contact them.

Went with my dog to remove "fat" lump. The "common" & "simple" operation ended up with my dogs tooth ripped out. The dog had been traumatised to a point where she didn't even react to her name, this isn't her normal post vet behaviour, she has been different vets (RBB at Abbey Hulton) countless times and always left happy and excited. Overall tragic.
