Had the misfortune to end up in A&E in the early hours of Saturday morning in acute pain. Within 10 minutes of arriving I was assessed and taken for treatment where 20 minutes later I was pain free. In comparison to Pinderfields A& E in Wakefield this is a 5 star hospital, far far better. Staff are great, free coffee, sandwiches and take the time to explain exactly what they are doing to you, what drugs they are treating you with and how they work. The follow up appointment a few weeks later went just as well with only a 20 minute wait.

If you want to experience the NHS pressures and falling standards that are reported so many times in the media just pay a visit as a patient to Scarborough hospital. Hours waiting in A and E for an 88 year old lady with a leg wound and advanced dementia, hours waiting to be admitted to a ward, un cordinated and unsafe practices once admitted -totally stressful and frustrating discharge practices, and finally an entirely incorrect help line phone number printed on leaflets given to a terminally ill patient. No stars should be awarded--however a complaint to CQC has been made. The on star was given for the help of a consultant who actually made sense involved us in discussions and did his job well

Waited in A&E today for 3 hours to realise that 6 people had been seen before us after telling us before that that we were next. The nurse you see first was very rude and didn't really care about your own confidentiality! I shut the door behind us and she demanded it was open as the room 'was too hot' ( please provide her with a fan) to then wait at the reception desk again to see how long it would be after an estimated 1.5 hour wait been there double the time and lady couldn't see us on the list! Not only this they couldn't help as they were unable to receive my data from a hospital less than 10 miles away......
come on NHS no wonder private hospitals are in a boom! I'm at spire now 👌🏼

They are very kind and friendly and they are very organised with everything. First I was scared but they make me feel so calm. I had my first operation there then I been transferred from Scarborough to leeds hospital. I would like to say thank you very single one of the staff for the amazing job.

Was a patient in the gastroenterology department today. The staff could not have been more helpful and courteous. An extremely professional approach.

My partner and I just had our first child 03/10/16. We were admitted to the Maternity delivery unit of SGH between the early hours of 30/09/16 and transferred to Hawthorn ward on 03/10/16 until discharge 05/10/16.

The care, advice and reassurance given by all the midwifery team [and there was a lot of them] was second to none. We had a stressful early pregnancy and a stressful few days over the labor and recovery period and all the staff we encountered during our stay were brilliant.

So if you're expecting a child and have concerns about the care you'll receive; from our experience...don't worry.
