Struggling to bend forwards due to back pain?
My client came in this morning with pain in his lower back which worsens when bending forwards. This has been a recurrent problem which normally last 4 days. He was 70% better after repeating this routine 4x this morning.
Try this exercise routine.
... - Only move onto the next exercise once the one you are doing becomes comfortable. - Relax throughout
Exercise 1 - In a sitting position, take a deep breath in, then bend down towards your toes at the same time as breathing out. Then curl back up to a sitting position while breathing in. Repeat until comfortable.
Exercise 2 - repeat exercise 1 and as you bend forward stand up and continue breathing out. Then while breathing in bend forwards with a relaxed spine and sit down. Sit up tall and then repeat until comfortable.
Exercise 3 - In a standing position, take a deep breath in, then bend down towards your toes at the same time as breathing out. Then breathing in curl back up to a standing position while. Repeat until comfortable.
Exercise 4 - repeat exercise 3 and hold a light weight.
If this helps then repeat throughout he day several times a day. Then repeat daily and use as a preventative measure so your back pain doesn’t come back.

Amazing success!
Claire had spinal surgery on New Year’s Eve after several months of back, leg and foot pain as well as pins and needles and numbness in her foot.
Claire’s goal was to return to her kettle bell class.

Sam’s physio story.
Sam came to me with sciatica which came on when she had been inactive for long periods. Part of her job involves driving long distances which didn’t help matters.
Sam expected standard Physiotherapy when she came to see me. This may have included some hands on treatment and gentle exercises, however I understood from her story that she needed to make some lifestyle changes and for her symptoms to improve she would need to become more active on a regular... basis. Sam was keen to try out our patient pathway and she has never looked back.
We commenced regular rehab/exercise sessions in the gym to improve her flexibility, mobility, strength and general fitness. She noticed a very quick response from the sessions and found that her sciatica symptoms were better day to day and the long drives were no longer such a problem.
She has now been training with me for the last 2 years in which she has made some fantastic progress. She now interprets pain differently and is more confident to keep moving when pain is present. She has gained strength and now notices that she is able to lift and move things she could never do before. Sam has lost weight and tells me all her clothes fit better and most importantly her sciatica rarely bothers her.

Age is just a number!!
My dad (60) has recently taken up Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art. He just received his yellow belt and then come second in his first competition this weekend. What a hero!
Exercise comes in many forms and you just have to find the one that you enjoy most.
