When a filler is injected there is always the risk of injecting into a blood vessel. This can then block the blood supply to an area of tissue OR the filler can flow downstream to block the artery that supplies the eye, and lead to blindness. Some areas of the face are of higher risk than others..., such as: •Frown area •Nose •Nasolabial folds (smile lines) •Forehead .
Of course, there are methods we can use to reduce this risk such as anatomy knowledge, using a cannula over a needle, injecting small volumes, and being able to efficiently deal with emergencies should they occur.
