Alice Darby Veterinary Physiotherapist will be available for canine physiotherapy appointments the first Thursday of each month @ Emily’s Canine Country!
Appointments offer a variety of benefits to pet and performance canines. Looking after the musculoskeletal system (muscles and joints) of your dog’s keeps them looking, feeling and working to their best!
Physiotherapy helps to enhance movement and function of the musculoskeletal system through the use of manual therapy, elec...trotherapy, remedial exercise and practical management. All animals can benefit from physiotherapy just like us, whether they are recovering from injury, preparing for competition or just needing general maintenance. Physiotherapy covers a wide range of individual specialised treatments including manual therapy, electrotherapy, remedial exercise and management adaptations. Electrotherapies such as Laser, Ultrasound, TENS, NMES and PEMF can be used as individual treatments and/or incorporated into a physiotherapy session.
Not quite moving right? Sore or tender muscles? Difficulty with certain obstacles? Struggling getting up and down? Slow or reluctant with certain aspects of work? Poor posture or conformation? Muscle wastage or over-development? Recovering from or supporting injury? Arthritis or joint problems?
Physiotherapy can offer help and support to increase comfort and keep them happier for longer.

I headed up to Rugby today along with many Veterinary Physiotherapists from around the country for the NAVP AGM. It's been a long day but absolutely lovely to catch up with old friends and colleagues, we had some interesting speakers and are always learning new things.

Busy day yesterday! It was lovely to be back into the Gym clinics after a bit of time off and then off treating in the afternoon.

Had a little and LARGE day yesterday... Safe to say they were both won round and enjoyed the benefits of Laser, relieving muscle spasm without pressure. It is definitely a favorite with many of my clients, and with the ever ongoing write up of my research study its very obvious why!
With the competition season well underway and many clients preparing for winter dressage and showjumping champs I am taking bookings well into April. I still have a few slots to see those all important children's ponies before the Easter break but please do allow extra time if you require an afternoon appointment as these often fill up quickly.

Thank you to everyone who came and made my first client evening (working horses from the ground) a success. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and have taken some ideas away that you can try at home.
Massive thank you to Billie-Jo & Harry and Ella & Leela for volunteering and being such wonderful demonstrators! Leela worked in the Pessoa and long lines whilst Harry worked in the Equiband and two line lunging. We were able to discuss and see the pros and cons of various methods whilst acknowledging the fact that all horses are different and no one size fits all!

We had Alice out to our yard today and I can honestly say she is the best physio I have ever used! Very skilled, helpful, understanding and also great value for money. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you Alice!

Very knowledgeable and informative, talked through every step of the treatment and took her time. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Top drawer. Me and my ponies love Alice. We've watched her grow and mature into a fabulous horse therapist.

Great fun, we are not really a pole couple, but little did I know!

Alice makes it fun and informal, and the horses really enjoy the pole clinics and me too!

Fab , my 2 ridden horses feel amazing. Makes it all very easy to understand whats going on with the horse and easy exercises for you to do yourself afterwards to keep the the horse nice and supple 🖒

Brilliant, I felt Alice treated my mare to the highest possible standards, Alice was very professional and is extremely informative, my horse felt amazing after her treatment, and back to her bubbly self, I would highly recommend Alice to everyone.

My mare suffered from annular ligament damage at the end of last year and because of this she had nearly 6 months off work.

This lead to her having extreme muscle and topline wastage along with sacro iliac pain from being on stable rest for so long.

Alice worked with my vets and started her with small exercises to start building up the muscle so that I could ride her. With in a few weeks I could see a difference!

2 months later and Alice gave her a full treatment using her laser and I can happily say I have never had her feel so well under the saddle!

Would highly recommend �

As a business and a person Alice is second to none. Alice has given Mia and her parents (me) the confidence to step into the world of horses and horse ownership. Once over that hurdle Alice helped select our Daughters Pony. Alice now treats Star on a regular basis to ensure he is supple and well prepared for competition. After Star has his Physio his stride lengthens and his scope to jump increases.

It's easy to forget that your Pony/Horse is an Athlete and regular physio/conditioning will lead to increased performance and a healthier Pony/Horse.

Alice has bought my daughter on so much over the last year, my daughter has a lot of self doubt in her own abilities, and Alice has made her realise that she can do it and that she is a good rider. Although we will only be with her a few more weeks, she has given her so much confidence that we are getting her, her very first loan pony.... God help me! Thank you Alice, and good luck, but we will be calling on you for advice I am sure, if not the odd lesson. X thank you x
