Anderson School Of Riding & Holiday Lodge

A big well done to all the competitors last night it was a busy one. We managed a third place and did some lovely double clears but those rosettes were hard to come by and needed chasing.

Talk about show jumping into the night even the cafe had closed. To the delight of all on board as we are now at Maccie Ds filling our faces with chips whilst the horses do the same on their hay nets.

Off for a jaunt with the Wednesday night group, you can't beat a good gallop next to the river bank. Thanks Katie for the great photo.

Maybe you cant ride 2 at once, but you can exercise 2 at once. Here Toby does that riding Pete in double reins giving Stiga a lead. Since his reins broke in a jump off recently with him nearly coming to grief, he is deciding whether to ride in double reins all the time like Winston Churchill.

Riders work their socks off on lessons, not sure who needs the hose pipe on them most, clients or horses ?

DEPOSIT NOW REQUIRED TO BOOK ACTIVITIES AT THIS CENTRE It takes time and effort to get ready and tack up and those rude enough to just " not show up" for activities booked, have resulted in us now enforcing taking a £10 non refundable deposit from all new clients attending. We would also like to make it clear that we are not a centre where you can attend to feed ponies and help yourself to just have a look around.

Thanks to a small army who came to help at Craigie Show, we had a lovely morning. Show jumping and Working Hunters were the order of the day with Toby Qualifying Peter Pan for the Scottish Masters.

Lessons and hack out done, 3 bathed and rugged, tack cleaned, car packed and trailer on ! We are so spoilt having the choice of 3 different venues to go to tomorrow and the weather looks good.

And the mowers are out in force this evening, keeping the workers course in check and getting fat grass bellies !!

Sunshine is out and the going is good and more jumpers are out on the workers course.

A very varied working day with astride and side saddle riders ( sorry ladies but my video of you all cantering in the field together side saddle didn't work ) Then a lesson with Stiga over natural fences on grass for the first time. A hack into the village and a paddle in the river and an ice cream. Then back in time to trim Stigas feet and have a Chinese take out for tea, it's all going on in New Cumnock I tell you !

So Toby and Stiga have a bash at the workers course for the first time. I think there is going to be lots of fun to be had with this combination in the future.

Toby tries out the Woofwear Medical Hoof boots on a lower course to make sure they are ok and stay put. I have to say they are excellent, giving both horse and rider a more cushioned ride. Looking forward to giving them a whirl over bigger heights next time. Stigas show name is Major Tom look out for him next time.

had a lovely afternoon, although I had ridden aside before learned so much ,super saddle and well schooled horse to ride and learn on which is a pleasure to ride......just what we needed here .....in Scotland, knowledgeable teaching ,horses and ponies with vitality and someone with a passion and a sense of humour(all important for me !!)two friends who had never ridden aside did really well with all the right things in place.....we will be back, thanks Michelle and her horses! ....a wee weekend in one of the cabins would be fabby!!!!!

We are staying in the lodge and I have to say what an amazing, friendly and relaxing place to stay. My daughter has been having lessons with Michelle and she was cantering thismorning at a level of which I have never seen her do before. She has gained confidence in herself and her riding ability. Thankyou so much Michelle x

On the last night of the holiday....and if it wasn't for work I'd be staying!! Will be recommending this holiday let to everyone I know. Michelle, Julian and the boys are so welcoming. Great time fishing on our own stretch of river and never stayed anywhere so clean...the cabin is spotless. Thankyou for everything and will definitely be back this year!!!

My son and myself thoroughly enjoy getting lessons from Michelle. Providing fun games to keep little ones concentrating and interested! Highly recommend for any level of riding!

My son and daughter ride here every Sunday and really enjoy not only their riding but all of the animal management they get to do aswell. Pooh picking.....hay nets....mucking out..tacking up...they love it aswell as the hacks and lessons. Thank you Michelle

If you are interested in trying side saddle, this is the place to go. We had a 3hour journey to get there and I can tell you it was worth every minute of it for the wonderful experience we enjoyed. Fabulous setting, great facilities, responsive, well schooled horses and Michelle is a professional but friendly and down to earth instructor. I cannot rate this place highly enough. I will be going back and the list of friends who want to come with me is growing by the day!

I have known Michelle for the past couple of months, originally meeting her at Muirmill Thursday Night Unaffiliated Jumping. A very lovely woman who is great to talk to, and very genuine.

I had my first lesson today, after mentioning it for months, and I was so happy. Despite being rusty, she gave me a few things which made me work and think, and despite the sore muscles, I can't wait to get back.

I had my first side saddle lesson here yesterday and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Everyone should have a go! I've always wanted to try it and finally there's a great instructor and facilities to help you try a new experience. I was a little apprehensive at first but within about 5 minutes I was trotting and I thought that'd be all I'd do but I even cantered and popped over a couple of jumps. Absolutely loved it! I'll definitely be back. Well worth it. Thanks Michelle

I had a side saddle lesson with Michelle in September and am going to return often. Not only does she have schoolmasters, but she is a great experienced teacher.

I haven't ridden side saddle for 25 yrs, but I managed walk, trot and canter !

Had a great long weekend at this luxury lodge with all the mod cons that you could ask for...Michelle and julian where great hosts and lovely friendly people.Had a fishing lesson from julian...although never got a bite � maybe next time ��� defo be back for return visit...thanks again ����

Had a brilliant time at our first ever side saddle lesson! Cannot recommend this place highly enough!! The horses were very well kept and well trained and were super safe both on the ground and in the saddle. Michelle was very friendly and professional and we left feeling as though we had learned loads in such a short time. Already looking forward to our next visit �

Great place for the kids to learn to ride. Lots of variety in lessons including games to improve on skills. Also lots of fun events for different disciplines. I also enjoyed my own lesson on riding a dressage test and looking forward to the next installment. Scenery provides a beautiful backdrop (especially on a sunny day :) )

First visit today with my 5yr old and one of her ponies. We had a lovely morning and I must comment on the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic holiday I will definitely be booking up next year. The lodge was immaculate and everything was on your doorstep. I would definitely recommend this place if your after a break away with your friends family and horses.

Fantastic afternoon spent at Anderson School of Riding today, having a side saddle lesson with Michelle. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, with everything being explained in great detail and made brilliantly fun. Michelle is clearly very passionate about side saddle which comes through in her teaching, and really knows her stuff. Had the pleasure of meeting a number of the lovely horses and ponies at the yard who were partaking in a festive fun day for the kids. Brilliant place to learn to do it properly for all levels of rider and can’t wait to visit you again.
