Wow this has to be the most beautiful place with the most relaxing atmosphere you can possibly have to hold your very special day. Gary and Thomasina are brilliant. They could not have been more accommodating and easy going. This is the place to hold any special event. My daughter married here. Everything was so easy and relaxed. Believe me. I've organised and helped lots of people with weddings. These guys have to be the best. Plus you also have outstanding grounds with an abundance amount of scope to dress it to you theme and Gary is there to advise and help should you want it. The building its self,has a huge wow factor. What Gary has achieved in the time he has had to get it ready for opening is outstanding. The bedrooms are huge clean and tastefully decorated in keeping with the building. Gary is on hand throughout the day to help with anything. We had the place for the weekend and it was the best weekend we have ever had. My daughters wedding was the most relaxing fun weddings. Both family's we able to spend the weekend together in the same building and not feel on top of each other. There was loads of space for the children to run around, quite area for the grandparents and room for the younger generation to party. Honest don't look any further for holding any event. It's all here. We really didn't want to leave. I need another excuse to have another event at Barleywood. Huge thank you Gary and Thomasina wishing you an amazing year. Amanda & Emily

We had our wedding in Barley Wood in May this year and it was absolutely wonderful!

The staff was SUPER helpful and accommodating from day one (when we visited the venue for the 1st time), throughout all the planning and on the weekend of the wedding.



We went to see the venue for the first time in July and Gary showed us around and explained us how the venue works... we got the venue solely for us, for the whole weekend! ceremony and party in the same location, and 2 whole days to enjoy, options for inside or outside, no corkage and no set providers (we could have whoever we wanted, or even cook ourselves, which we did on day 2 with a BBQ for close friends and family ). All of this in a breathtaking location, wonderful grounds and beautiful and spacious house (which would accommodate our family for the whole weekend).... We decided on it almost instantly as we were so taken with it, and we don't regret it a bit! We had such a good time there, the guests loved it, and our family -who stayed in site with us for the weekend- couldn't be happier! (very important as most of them travelled from overseas to join us)...



If you are looking for a beautiful and versatile venue in the country side, where you can be free to really create your event the way you wanted, I would definitely recommend you have a look at Barley Wood! Achieving our dream was made possible by these lovely, accommodating and hardworking people. Amie ensured that every detail of the day was organised and all the suppliers came together as a team. Gary and his team worked tirelessly in the lead up to the wedding to make the grounds and house perfectly preened. The ability to stay at the venue all weekend was an incredible bonus and meant that my bridal party and I could have a relaxed wedding morning. It honestly felt like we were staying in a luxurious holiday home for the weekend.

We first visited Barley Wood on a cold January day, and straight away knew it was a special place. Amie made us feel welcome, and we went away knowing it was the place for us (despite it being the first venue we visited!)

It is incredibly beautiful and magical. You have everything you would need for your wedding, and more!! Our whole weekend was incredible and we have so many special memories and hope there will be opportunities to always return to Barley Wood.

However, what really makes it are the staff and values. We loved that it was run by the YMCA and it didn't feel like a 'wedding factory'. Amie was so helpful, all the way through and her and Tracey were an amazing help. They really can do anything! Gary was fantastic on the day, making sure everything ran smoothly and was all in the right place.

I could go on and on! Barley Wood will always be an important place to us and we hope it never changes!

We can't put into words how incredibly lucky we feel to have had our wedding at Barley Wood. It is an extremely special places, full of history and beautifully restored. Thomasina, Gary and the rest of the team can't do enough to help you - from viewings in the run up to the wedding to getting stuck in on the day! Nothing is too much trouble. It really feels like it your home for the weekend.



Our friends and family haven't stopped raving about the house - I know a lot of them want to come back to see it again and we are hoping someone books their wedding here we can experience it all again!

This was the most amazing find for our daughter and son in laws wedding! So very very picturesque the views are stunning, gorgeous walks, woods and gardens. The house has been restored beautifully, the bedroom so tasteful and comfortable. It was like staying in someone's house it was so relaxing! The best place for their wedding, it was better than we could ever have imagined! Thank you to all the staff they were so friendly, helpful and supportive, nothing was too much trouble at all. Thank you Barley Wood for the most memorable day for bride and groom, families and friends.

Thank you! 30 over tired members of a primary school teaching team danced the night away in the most beautiful surroundings... And stayed up well past bedtime on a school night! A fabulous venue from setting to accommodating staff and trust that we would look after the place as if it was our own. Thank you thank you thank you. Absolutely perfect evening.

Have just had our daughters wedding here and it was amazing from start to finish , Tracey thanks for being there all weekend and staying on Thursday and Friday because of the snow � Gary for keeping the logs coming for the fire � and Topline catering , the food the service was all 10/10 x

Blown away by the house, the grounds and most of all the team. Nothing was too much trouble. This should be number one choice for anyone wanting a wedding venue. Barley Wood is such an amazing venue. My husband and I had our wedding here 3 weeks ago, we knew on our first visit to the venue it was where we wanted to get married. It is a gorgeous building with grounds that look spectacular at any time of year, and of course a room fit for a ceilidh! The staff were all absolutely brilliant and I can't thank you all enough. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Amie answered all my questions on the run up to the big day (Barley Wood have thought of everything), and Tracey kept me calm on the day with her brilliant organisation. I would fully recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect venue for their special day!

Barley Wood is simply the most stunning wedding venue! We visited the house when it was still being renovated and knew instantly that this was the venue for us. Amie, Gary and the rest of the YMCA team were beyond helpful in the lead up to our wedding day and made sure that everything ran seamlessly on the day itself. Our dream was to have a wedding day tailored to reflect us – we were keen to use a caterer we already knew, alongside a list of suppliers we had chosen. We couldn’t have found a more perfect venue for this.



Achieving our dream was made possible by these lovely, accommodating and hardworking people. Amie ensured that every detail of the day was organised and all the suppliers came together as a team. Gary and his team worked tirelessly in the lead up to the wedding to make the grounds and house perfectly preened. They also worked behind the scenes on the day to make sure guests were greeted and suppliers knew where to set up.



The ability to stay at the venue all weekend was an incredible bonus and meant that my bridal party and I could have a relaxed wedding morning. Every single bedroom in Barley Wood is beautifully decorated and our family and friends all raved about their stay. It honestly felt like we were staying in a luxurious holiday home for the weekend.



We will continue to rave about this flawless venue and will hopefully find an excuse to visit again soon! Thank you!

Barley Wood is beautiful and should be the number one choice for anyone looking for a perfect wedding venue.

The house is set in beautiful grounds with amazing views. The function rooms are well laid out and beautifully decorated, perfect for a wedding and reception. The bedrooms are large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable.

Aimee, Gary Megan and Tracey are amazing, were always on hand willing to help and do whatever they could do to make the weekend perfect.

I can not say enough good things about or recommend Barley Wood highly enough. I just hope that I get the opportunity to return someday.

Barley Wood is a hidden gem. We held our wedding here in Feb 2018 and the day couldn't have been more perfect. The house itself has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and you instantly feel at home there. Many guests commented on what a stunning location it was, how it had a real wow factor.

The staff were incredibly helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Amie and Tracey's help the day before the wedding was invaluable, and took away so much of the stress for us. We loved our time at Barley Wood and didn't want to leave!

As part of YMCA Bath Group we ran a 3 day yoga retreat at Barley Wood in April this year. It was fabulous! Such a stunning backdrop to a yoga retreat. Staff were brilliant - super helpful and all our guests said the venue surpassed their expectations. A fabulous venue for retreats, weddings and celebrations - and best of all surplus funds from the hire of the venue supports the valuable work the Ymca does with vulnerable young people. The restoration work that you are all doing on the house, out buildings and grounds is commendable. Thank you to all the staff - we will definitely be back.
