Bank Holiday Weekend May 25th -28th, 2017
Bearded Theory`s Spring Gathering is a multi-award winning creative and performing arts festival set in the beautiful grounds of Catton Hall in the heart of the National Forest. The festival borders 3 counties of West Midlands, South Derbyshire and Staffordshire and only 2 hours away for 50% of the UKs population.
In 2016 we won "UK`s Best Family Festival" award at the UK Festival Awards, 2014 we won “Promoter of the Year” award at the UK Festival Awards in London and Festival Kidz “Silver Award”. In 2013, after being shortlisted for many years, we finally won “Best Small Festival” at the UK Festival Awards and a Festival Kidz “Gold Award”. In 2011 we won the “UKs Best Independent Festival” at the AIM Music Awards. Over the years we have also been shortlisted for many awards including Best Family Festival, Best Grassroots, and Best Toilets.
We have been recognised in the National press as being one of the best festivals of the summer in various articles in the Guardian, Express, Sun, Independent, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 1, Channel 4, BBC Entertainment and the Mirror. We have an award winning free Children’s Village along with an award winning bar selling real ales, lagers and ciders at pub tariffs. In addition we are one of the very few festivals that allow you to bring your own drink into our arenas.
The festival has always been audience led and our programming is operated the same now as when we started 10 years ago. We book acts off the back of your recommendations, improved our infrastructure in line with feedback and sourced the vendors and bars off the back of the suggestions of people that attend.

After a bit of a soggy morning the rain has stopped, the ground has dried and Britpop legends Sleeper are on the Pallet Stage.
We just want acknowledge that the delays that everyone has experienced getting on site today do not reflect the high standards that we expect of ourselves. We can assure you that we will be making a full and honest assessment of what has gone wrong this year with any of the elements we have control over, and what we need to change to ensure these issues never happen again. As always we will be asking you to your honest feedback and suggestions as part of that process. Team Bearded
We just wanted to update again with the latest info we have on the traffic situation. Multiple issues on the roads, including a police incident, a lorry stuck under a bridge on the A38, and a burst water main have all contributed to the ongoing delays you are experiencing getting onto site. We do truly understand your frustrations that these delays are causing and are getting everyone on site at our end as quickly as we possibly can. Please do not be concerned about the gate closing time - if you are already en route and / or in a queue to get into the festival, we will ensure you get on site safely this evening! Just to update you all on the current traffic situation. There has been an incident on the A38 which has led to quite substantial delays. We understand how frustrating this must be for everyone stuck in traffic. We are working with local authority partners to get everyone on site as quickly and safely as possible. Please bear with us.
The sun is shining! The gates are open, and our first band of the festival - Skaciety - have taken to the Pallet Stage!

Just a little reminder that we are asking everyone to bring an item to donate to the incredible Padley Group. Here's the info that will be in the official festival programme - makes sense to share it all in advance as well! Have a fab festival and see you all very soon.
This year at Bearded Theory's Spring Gathering 2018 *SOLD OUT* we are running our first ever “FOODBANK HOLIDAY” DONATION CAMPAIGN”
... With this campaign we are encouraging everyone attending the festival to bring one item of healthy, non-perishable (unopened and in-date) food for donation to The Padley Group, a registered charity and Queens Award for Voluntary Services-winning foodbank, homeless services hub and development centre, based in Derby.
If you would like to take part, Volunteers will be on hand near the entrances to accept all appropriate items (see below). Also, The Padley Group are running a “donation location” stall, where you can bring donations at any time over the weekend, and also learn more about their valuable work in the community.
Lastly, our fabulous volunteers and stewards will be traversing the campsites as you pack up on Monday, and encouraging final donations! So please do give them any suitable items that you would rather not carry back to your vehicle!

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR DONATIONS ARE GIVEN TO A VOLUNTEER OR LEFT AT A SPECIFIC DONATION LOCATION WE CANNOT COLLECT ANY ITEMS JUST LEFT BEHIND IN THE CAMPSITES
We have set an ambitious target of 5,000 donations across the weekend - enough to provide more additional 415 food parcels to the most vulnerable members of society, and give a huge boost to the number of local people that The Padley Group can help.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS MUST BE 100% CLEAN PLEASE BRING ITEMS WRAPPED AND INCLUDE A NOTE TO CONFIRM THIS - ANYTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY HAVE BEEN USED AT THE FESTIVAL OBVIOUSLY CANNOT BE ACCEPTED....
