Chocolate pistachio cake with the new york skyline. Everything seemed to go wrong making this cake, and this is the best I could do at the end of a long day! Happy birthday husband! ππποΈπ
I may not be selling my cakes at the moment but I figured that shouldn't stop me posting nice recipes and the cakes I'm making for family! ππππ°ππͺ
I was recently asked about tools I use to make a cake, and wanted to share a list of my 'cantcopewithout' tools!
Below is the tools I use to cover a cake neatly with icing. I'm no expert but these tools help considerably!
... 1. A mat to roll your icing on, with measurements so you roll a round shape, and the correct size 2. A decent rolling pin, long enough it will not leave lines in your icing 3. Cornflour is in the shaker-much silkier and nicer to use than icing sugar 4. Cake lifter- so much easier and safer to lift a cake! 5. Cake turntable-really heavy, solid and smooth to turn. I use masking tape to secure the cake board to the top. 6. Blue plastic to make the butter cream under the icing as smooth and straight as possible 7. White smoother I use this to smooth the icing down. Must be kept dry, with a bit of cornflour. 8. Spatula- I apply buttercream with this, easier to smooth on than a knife
