Burrows Caravan Park Description

Welcome to Burrows Caravan Park
Burrows Caravan Park is a static caravan park that has been owned and run by the same family for more than 60 years.

The beautiful sandy beach of Horton & Port Eynon is just a two minute walk from where the park nestles behind the sand dunes on the Gower Peninsula’s southern coastline. Many families have called this their ‘little bit of paradise’ for generations.

The park is off the beaten path and therefore very private, made more so by the electronically controlled security barrier at the entrance. There is a large grassy area in the centre where children can play safely and be easily supervised. Our efficient wifi system allows you to keep in touch with the rest of the world and the modern laundry facility helps to make life that little bit easier.

The Gower Peninsula was designated Britain’s first ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ in 1956 and anyone visiting this special part of South Wales soon understands why.

The sandy beach is one of the finest and safest on the peninsula for a range of water sports and also benefits from being patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards during the summer.

In Port Eynon there are fish and chip shops, two restaurants with Tripadvisor Certificates of Excellence, and a grocery store, all within easy walking distance. Also, there is the excellent family bar and restaurant at Bank Farm Leisure Park in Horton, where all our residents are made welcome.

Port Eynon is just a 30 minute drive from Swansea and the M4 motorway. The park is ideally situated to allow easy access to all that Gower has to offer, from its famous world class views, walks and beaches to its dazzling collection of flora and fauna both on land and sea.

Whether it’s fishing, swimming, walking or just playing in the rock pools, Gower has something for everyone.

Lawrie & Courtney have gone to great effort to create a mini wildflower meadow in the centre of our empty field, between Burrows Caravan Park and Nuttall’s Caravan Site. About a week ago someone trampled a section of these wildflowers. Today, Sunday, they were trampled again, between 9.00am and 7.00pm. Those involved may have been quite wet as the sprinkler was running at the time. We would very much like to know who was responsible. Please contact Lawrie or Courtney if you have any information. Many thanks.

The Met Office is predicting below zero temperatures for the next three nights and possibly during the daytime. We will probably have to turn the water off tonight, Saturday, but will leave it as late as we dare before doing so. We will try to leave it on for Sunday/Monday nights but this will be subject to changes in temperature. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Western Power has informed us of interruptions to the caravan park power supply from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Wednesday 14th March.

Although we officially open tomorrow, March 1st, the water will not be turned on until the thaw sets in. We apologise for this but these freezing conditions at this time of year are unprecedented.
Enjoy the snow!

Here's a reminder of the RNLI's key safety advice for anyone heading to the coast:
How to keep yourself safe •Go to a lifeguarded beach and swim between the red and yellow flags. •Before going into the sea, consider your ability and the conditions; swimming in the sea is very different to swimming in a pool.... •When you enter the water, take time to acclimatise to the water temperature. •Have someone watching you from the beach and make sure they have a means of calling for help.
What to do if you see someone else in trouble •Call 999/112 and ask for the Coastguard. •If you have something that floats or they can hold on to, throw it to them. •Don't go in the water yourself - too many people drown trying to save others.
If you find yourself in trouble •The initial effects of cold water pass in less than a minute so don't try to swim straight away. •Relax and float on your back to catch your breath. Try to get hold of something that will help you float. •Keep calm then call for help or swim for safety if you're able. • If you get caught in a rip current don't try to swim against it – you'll get exhausted. Keep calm, raise your hand and shout for help. If you can, swim parallel to the shore until free from the rip and then head for shore.

The aerial filming is now planned for shortly after 5.00pm this Friday, July 31st. We will get word around the park when we know it is going ahead. Please also keep an eye on Facebook. Fingers crossed for a sunny evening.

Awful weather today so we were unable to go ahead with the aerial filming. The next possibility is Friday, 31st July. If weather permits filming we will let everyone know on Facebook and by passing word around on the day as to timing.

The aerial filming is planned for this Sunday, 26th July, at about 1.15pm. Weather forecast is not very good at the moment and we may have to postpone at the last minute. It may then be possible to film on Thursday or Friday of next week, possibly in the late afternoon. Keep an eye out for updates as this is all subject to change. That's British summers for you!

We have been truly spoilt this year with an abundant display of vibrant flowers in the Port Eynon Bay area; the gorse, early in the season, was absolutely laden with it's yellow blooms. Walking the footpaths has been made even more pleasurable than usual due to nature's colourful exhibition.
