What a fabulous hotel, it’s quintessentially English with wonderful antiques & fabrics. This was my 3rd stay, great spa, treatments and staff could not have been kinder or more attentive, we loved every minute thank you :)

User

The 'Education Exclusive' spa day and treatment package was Super fantastic Thankyou!! The spa and pool facilities are satisfyingly luxurious and my Swedish full body massage with Chloe was perfect -professional, relaxing and just what I needed! Would most definitely recommend and return :)

User

Our first visit to Charlton House we were well looked after. Excellent food and Spa.

Amazing standard double room

I had a facial and my Husband had a massage couldnt fault it Brilliant

We both felt extremely relax by the end of our stay. We are defently planning to come back.

User

Lovely Hotel, would recommend, WILL go back! Room was lush "3 Folly", the spa was really nice, location looks great in the Snow, all the staff were very helpful, food was very good (service was little slow though)

User

Just got back today from our 2 night stay for our anniversary today. Really great! Bid for a couple nights stay at a charity night. So we probably paid more but all for a good cause! Id say we had one of the best rooms as we could go straight to the spa from our room which was lush. We had a few treatments but my my best was a back massage by a lady called Emma. The restaurant was great with great food! The sticky toffee is divine! Yes the place isn’t all fresh and brand new but I loved it, it had character but I wouldn’t particularly call it ‘tired’ like some other reviews. Overall great experience and I’d go again.

User

Just come back from our Spa break. Went for our 10th Anniversary and staff went out if their way to make it extra special. Thank you so much x

User

I've stayed in quite a few luxury hotels. I love them. I've just found my new favourite! And it's so close to home too!

For my first stay in in the garden lodge, it's peaceful, the doors open out onto the huge back garden, the view from the lodge is amazing.

The food is divine, well presented, tasty and a good price.

The staff are so friendly and always smiling! A rare treat! They have offered no end of help and services.

The spa is lovely! The treatments are very nice indeed! The gym is clean, tidy, and we'll presented.

I will be booking in again very soon! And would defiantly recommend this place!

User

I have just come back from here, all I can say is fabulous, it doesn't need updating that is the character of the lovely building and surrounds, the food and the staff were fantastic and I would certainly return again as would my three friends I came with, prices for this experience I thought was very good, the room was upstairs with high ceilings and beams (a cleaners nightmare) but no cobwebs in site, thank you so much for a wonderful experience

User

Have been to Charlton house several times now. On the first occasion was a few years ago for a spa day with my sister. The facilities were good aswell as the treatments we both received. Also, yesterday I hosted a baby shower for a good friend. I booked afternoon tea for the 6 of us. The process of booking was straight forward. The afternoon tea was also very good (yummy!!) and they had located us in the conservatory which was our own area which was fab for games and giggles. Thankyou Charlton house. I will be returning for sure!

User

Could this pace be any better? Elegant rooms, the most relaxing spa, the warmest of welcomes and sumptuous reception rooms. Not only do they have a fully equipped gym but now offer health classes, anything from dancercise to yoga, Pilates to circuit training! The teachers Caroline, Dan and Kev not only inspire but get results! Being a member is fitness disguised in luxury!

User

Beautiful venue, very attentive and friendly and fantastic facilities for the money! Thanks for the best spa day. The massages were one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend

User

Went on Sunday and Monday for a spa break. Room was lovely as was food. There was a slight issue with my booking for treatment not being changed as I had requested. However the manager sorted it and was amazing. Spa was good, could do with some work on it but I liked the fact it was intimate. My only real issue is the slippers they give out. I was just about to walk into the spa and slipped and hit my wrist on door frame. It hurt but didn't think much of it, today it's swollen and very painful. They say don't wear them in the spa but I think they should be worn at all! For the rest of my stay I wore my own flipflop. I would recommend to others though but just not the slippers!

User

We visited the spa after a disappointing trip to the Bristol Bannatyne. People have commented saying tired and in need of revamp. This is true a few things not on or working and tiles missing-a handy man cleaning the entire time we were there however, would have preferred not. However- absolutely outstanding massge and pretty amazing food at reasonable prices with average service. The money taken off my card as a holding fee was not used for final bill which was pointless and annoying. Overall the best that Bannatyne has, however I believe he needs to spend a few of his millions to sort his clubs out.

User

Room was lovely .. going by the reviews I think the only way you would enjoy your stay here is by staying in a superior room .. which we did thank goodness! The room was nice and big and beautiful 4 poster bed and the bathroom was amazing! The grounds were beautiful and our treatment at the spa was just what we needed! The staff were helpful and polite only down side I would say was that it was extremely hot and we had a small fan only they were nice enough to bring us another one .. it was just so very hot in the hotel and room.

User

My girlfriend and I decided to take a spa break here as we found a good deal on a 3rd party website.

Our reception was good and out room got upgraded, which was a pleasant surprise.

You get to wear the hotels robes and slippers, which is a nice concept, but the robes and slippers were way too small for me. I asked for a bigger size and got told that it would be delivered to my room, but never turned up. Also the slippers are a death trap when they are wet (and they will get wet) so I would recommend caution.

We decided to order some lunch shortly after arriving. We decided to share an "afternoon tea" platter, which is technically meant for one person, though we had to pay for another cup of tea so we both got a drink. It cost £25 and you didn't get much food, so that was a bit disappointing.

The spa was nice, but the main pool was smaller than I'd hoped. I loved their steam room, jacuzzi and exotic showers though.

The inclusive meal was a good experience overall but we ordered "medium" steaks where mine came out "medium well-done" and my girlfriend's was definitely "well-done". Also they burnt the first pudding so we had to wait a while for dessert.

The inclusive breakfast was very nice and included a buffet where you could take as much as you want (within reason). There was alot of variety in what you could eat.

Overall I would say it was a good experience and I would recommend it, if you can find a good deal.

User

Just had my third stay here and I really like it. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful room and great food although £9.75 for a large glass of Sauvignon and over £4 for bottled water was a bit of a choker!

Great value for money with a fantastic half hour massage, the spa area never seems to be crowded which is just as well as it’s not massive. A lady told me that’s it’s due for a refurb soon which would be good. Managed the gym as well, not very friendly regulars!

Will definitely go back.

User

Went on Friday with my partner for an overnight stay to celebrate my 40th birthday. The room, a standard double was up in the loft called the crows nest! When we were showed our room the door was opened and we were blasted with the heat......no windows had been opened. The room was OK but definitely looking old, needed bringing back to life. However the bathroom needed a lot of attention. It was tatty, cracked and chipped sink, the bath panel looked like a tatty piece of wood that wasn't fitted properly, if you stood up in the bath you would hit your head on the beam and even though there was a shower head attachment there wasn't a holder for it. So only a narrow bath that became very slippery when wet. No slip mat provided. On a positive the staff, service and food was all good. Would we stay again, for the amount you charge probably not. Slightly dissapointed.

User

Was somewhat disappointed by our recent stay. The room was very nice, although the bathroom wasn't cleaned well. There was dirt around the base of the tap and a hair in the sink! The shampoo supplied is awful and not great for my hair at all.

The spa was dreadful! The pool was dirty, with black mould on the grout lines, missing tiles and shoddy repairs. The heating by the pool steps was filthy with dust and dirt. The Jacuzzi water was milky and not at all inviting. Everything looked very old, tired and dirty. This spa seriously needs closing down and a complete revamp! We also had a head massage whilst there. However, this was done with dry hair, so not a pleasant experience as it just felt like someone trying to marry my hair and was 'noisy'. Please wet hair for head massages too prevent this! Not something I will rush to repeat!

The food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was good. Overall, excluding the spa (the main reason for our visit) it was a pleasant stay, but given the condition of the spa it was not value for money.

Finally, please can someone clean your office door! It's filthy with all the hands on it. It doesn't inspire guests that hygiene is a priority!

User

This was our 4 time at charlton house and we are sad to say our last.

Upon arrival we had to wait 10mins to check in as the only girl working at reception had to show the guest before us around the hotel.

Then it took 55mins to receive our lunch.

We have stayed in all the top rooms and only had the garden lodge to try which is very dated to say the least,Definitely not worth premium price tag.

Then to top it off, two of the steam rooms were out of order and when we mentioned this at reception all we got was sorry about that.

Not good enough with the prices they charge to stay here then not to have all services in working order.

Food was very good so no complaints here.
