We're so chuffed to have been presented with the School Travel Organiser Award for 'Best Venue for History Learning' by Fiona Bruce! A big thank you to our lovely staff for their hard work and to our visitors for their support over the years.

User

We visited this place yesterday and loved it! The gentleman in the caves was amazing! He said he's worked there 30 years and he truly seemed to love his job. His enjoyment of the caves was infectious! The children were really engaged! Please could you pass on my thanks to him for making our day so much fun.

User

Visited Cheddar Gorge today with our 2 children and dog. Had the most amazing day ever. Huge thank you to Andy B who was an amazing guide in Cox's cave. He was amazing with our children who were scared to start with. Beautiful place.

User

My friend and I visited today for climbing with George in the morning and caving in the afternoon (sorry, forgot the instructors name) We had a brilliant day! Both instructors were friendly and made us feel completely at ease whilst CLIMBING CLIFF FACES AND SQUEEZING THROUGH TINY HOLES IN DARK CAVES!!! They were calm, friendly and professional and the experience was one I won't forget for a long time. Not forgetting the lovely man who litter picked in the morning and was in the caves later in the day with his cheery attitude and making us feel welcome. Thank you chaps, you are an absolute credit to your workplace.

User

Lovely place to visit, beautiful views, and everywhere is dog friendly, so that was good for us.

User

If you love cheese and rocks, then taht is the place for you. Have a beautiful long walk at Gorge and finish it off with at Cheddar villiage with most amazing cheese you can taste. Certainly try the smoked one, my favourite.

User

I took my 15 year old son to the climbing session yesterday, neither of us had climbed before, it was a fantastic experience and was such a 'mindful' moment as i could think of nothing else as i scaled the 50 ft wall but doing my best in the moment.

The instructor was amazing and i would recommend this to absolutely anyone even thinking about it

It was a bargain to boot

User

I loved the amazing views from the top of the gorge and there was plenty to do for the entire day. The other pathway down the village does provide access along the same hike around the gorge for free- though I was more than happy to pay the £5 to go up Jacobs ladder as it gave quick access to the top of the gorge. I wasn't bothered at all that the tower was closed....walk further down the Gorge and the views are better anyway! I'm writing this mainly in response to people making a fuss about facilities and charges here- I though everything was great. A perfect adventure for the day!

User

I found it a awesome and fantastic place..Got no complaints exept that the lookout Tower at the top Jacobs Ladder was padlocked shut, so I could not go up the tower and look at the view....Also I could not catch one of the Goats for my dinner, they were too quick. Ha ha...

User

I did the caving adventure experience and it was well worth it, I had an absolutely amazing time. The guide was funny and experienced, he got us wiggling through tiny crawl spaces into the unknown! He made us feel completely safe and comfortable. I would definitely recommend the experience...if you don't mind getting a bit muddy, crawling on your stomach, and squeezing through tiny holes that is Thank you so much, I did this with a friend as a birthday present and it was the best present I could have wanted. Left with a few bruises as souvenirs, and absolutely buzzing from the experience.

User

Cheddar gorge is a great place to visit with the kids (and the dog). The caves are amazing, tickets are also valid for a year and you can do the hill top walk repeatedly, beautiful place very friendly businesses.

Went to the pub too, prices were much better than at home, really friendly even managed to teach my daughter to play darts.

I think £20 a head is great value too, for a couple of caves, museum, hill top walk and viewing (which you can do again and again)

It's only a couple of hours away, and different to theme parks and queuing. Parked up the hill from the black dog saloon (great pub) for £4 for the whole day, (doesn't even get you 3 hours at the beach)

Will be going back again soon.

User

Brilliant day out with the cheddar caving experience. Shaunus was an excellent imformative guide who with his time patience and his experiance made sure every one was able to complete the tour .The write up doesnt do the experiance justice .we were a stag party of 9 of which a couple of us were of older age than the others .crawling squeezing through tight places.up and down ladders over boulders bridges .we got dirty wet and sweaty .we also did the free fall drop of 40ft between 2 caverns .not for the faint hearted as we found out as one of our team couldn't do it .hats off he did try 3 times and completed the rest of the caving experience .the team were friendly and informative and yes Shaunus we all now know why it's called the ball beaker now lol . Highlight of the day well we all agreed all of it .well done cheddar gorge caving for giving us an outstanding experience.

User

If u love cheese go here. Lol. Views up the point are awesome. You can see Glastonbury hill stone marker. Caves are spectacular. Just a lovely place to be. Will be going again.

User

Gough’s Cave was excellent, especially with the audio guide. Cox’s Cave was not as engaging. Shame the Lookout Tower was closed for refurbishment but these things have to be done.

User

We went to cheddar gorge today, we thought the Gough's cave was good & the Easter egg hunt but for the price of tickets, it was too high as well as paying for car parking. There was no helper in the craft in the museum & no replenishment of resources so this was very limited for my 4 year old. the public toilets were not very clean & access for a buggy was limited in the dreamcatcher cave. We enjoyed the walk up Jacob's ladder but we're disappointed when we got to the top that the lookout tower was closed. We had a good day but could have been even better especially for the amount paid for 4 adults & 2 children!

User

We loved the main caves but the smaller cave was better with the Dragon and elves.the new exhibit was about ape men killing animals and has old carpets hanging eveywhere. Covering the cave walls.we missed also the bus that took visitors around the gorge

User

This place is definitely worth seeing, and preserving!

Problem: far too much noise pollution mostly from the many motorists inside the gorge; many people also appear to use lay-by spaces to litter the place. The views are stunning but the wild life we saw was deeply stressed from all the noise...

Possible solution: seriously restrict motorised access to the gorge itself by improving the car parking facilities further down town. The way up could still be used as a path accessible to wheelchair users for instance. Remember a famous quote from the movie Jurassic Park? "...less of our presence, and more of our absence..." - the preservation of the quality of such sites depends on a more controlled access to them. Or else will our grandchildren be left with?

User

The Gorge is a beautiful place and we enjoyed our visit. However this was marred by the large amounts of rubbish left behind by other visitors. There did not appear to be anything like patrol teams dealing with this. The excessive amount of noise from motorbikes also created undue stress not only to us but to the wildlife we saw. This lovely place could be so much better if motorbikes were banned or at least restricted and more bins provided. Warden patrols could be put in place to curb anti social behaviour and litter dropping.

User

Drove four hours to. get to the Gorge. So disappointed , closed up and boarded shops and other areas. We felt that £20each was very excessive to walk around the top of the Gorge. Rubbish piled at the side of the road. Toilets closed at the top and the ones at the bottom were tacky and less than clean. Would NOT recommend it

User

Visited on 18/4/2018 and was very disappointed to find the open top bus ride no longer runs, and a lot of the shops were not open . Also parking and the explorer ticket are very expensive ! Have been here 2 times before and I think things have gone downhill . Very sad .
