This year we will be holding a series of guided walks around the beautiful countryside surrounding the village of Clophill.
Each walk has it’s own theme and lasts 2 hours (12 – 2pm), starting and finishing at the Eco Lodges, and is led by a subject expert. The themes are: Medicinal & Edible Plants (19th August), Geology (26th August) & Foraging – with an introduction to preserve making (16th September).
The Foraging walk is followed by a 2 hour session at The Eco Lodges whe...re our local Dragon’s Kitchen expert will show you how to turn your hedgerow finds into jams, gins and chutneys. Recipe cards will be available to take home.
Dogs are welcome and the walks are not strenuous, please wear appropriate footwear for walking through woods, fields and uneven surfaces.
Places are £3 per person for all 2 hour walks and £9 for the foraging walk and lesson.

Supporting a fantastic cause this looks like a great day out!
We are restoring the sandstone wall that borders the churchyard of Old St Mary’s Church, our scheduled ancient monument. We plan to restore the wall using traditional heritage building skills to ensure it is historically accurate, and create a ‘stepping stone’ path leading to the end of the restored wall where our friends at Bedfordshire geology group are creating an interpretation section. Come and have a go at carving one letter of the main sign for us (under the super...vision of a master mason). Each carving slot is 30mins, when you register you will be sent a sheet of available times to select one.
Tower Tours of the old church will be running all afternoon and our cafe will be open serving delicious home made cakes.

2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War. To commemorate this event Clophill Heritage Trust will be holding a Remembrance Event
There will be an art installation in the Ancient Monument, and children & adults are invited to come and add a poppy or cross to this—they can be plain or show the name of someone who served in the war.
We will have poetry readings throughout the day and you are welcome to read out an original poem, or a work of one of the war poets... - -if you would like a spot to read, please contact us 07935 911207 or info@clophillecolodges.co.uk
The English Gardner Theatre Company will also be performing a dramatisation around the installation highlighting different aspects of War.
Our cafe will be open serving light lunches & refreshments.

What a beautiful spot and a great part of our village's heritage.....we love going for walks to the church. It's so tranquil and peaceful and we're so happy that the church has been restored and preserved with such detail.....I hope lots of people enjoy their experience too.
We went to the Pumpkin festival, the wardens there worked very hard to make it a great day for the whole village to enjoy, thank you. We raised some much needed funds for the brownies with our cake stall, thanks to all of our customers.
Visited with my partner for my birthday. Absolutely amazing place. So secluded and peaceful. Fab staff and delicious breakfast. Tower tour a must. Will definitely be back. Thanks for everything.

Such a beautiful setting and the restoration and preservation of the ruins is fantastic. I hope the lodges get used by the local schools to their full potential? Very happy to see good lighting and security there at last too. Looking forward to a "tower tour" when the weather gets better!
