Cockett is the name of an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Cadle, Cwmdu, Coedweig, Gendros, Gors, Fforestfach, Cockett and Waunarlwydd, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea West. The ward is bounded by the wards of Kingsbridge and Penderry to the north; Cwmbwrla to the east; Townhill to the south east; Sketty and Killay North to the south; and Gowerton to the west. Local Council Elections2017 local council electionsTurnout for the local election was 32. 73. Labour changed three of their candidates for the election through their selection process. 30 Cockett Ward members voted to replace Ann Cook, Andrew Jones and Geraint Owens with three local candidates: Mike Durke, Oliver James and Wendy Lewis. Labour then increased their share of the vote in the ward and increased their lead over the traditional main opposition parties within the ward: Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats. Ann Cook went on to stand in neighbouring Cwmbrwlla Ward only to lose to the Liberal Democrats by 1430 votes (Chris Holley) to 674 (Ann Cook). Geraint Owens went on to stand in neighbouring ward, Sketty, only to lose to both the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.
