Spot the difference? 👀
We’ve replaced the glazing on the swimming pool windows, creating a much lighter, airier, and more pleasant poolside area 🤩
👉🏻 QUESTION: Can you think of a great, catchy name for our newly improved swimming pool building? If we think yours is a winning name, it could appear above the doors in time for the start of the season in April! Thinking hats on! 🤔

👀 2018/19 Behind the Scenes Winter Update #10, Wednesday 12th December.
Work to prepare for the new Waverley caravans has been ongoing since last week and is progressing very nicely. Here’s the process:
- Break up the old bases... - Build a new, higher base from brick and reuse the broken up rubble to fill the foundation of the base in. The greater height will provide a better view of the river. - Cover wird concrete and level out, ready for the new caravan

Now that all the caravans have been moved off the back row of River Way, it’s time to raise the crowns on the trees behind, remove any dead trees, and remove remaining ivy. This is in preparation for raising the height of the concrete bases for our new Waverley caravans, which will improve the view of the River Teign from the back row 👍🏻

📢 We are very excited to announce two fantastic new types of caravan holiday home: the Waverley and the Discovery. These superb additions to our extensive range of holiday homes will certainly be in high demand.
Both are fully centrally heated and double glazed with a family bathroom plus an en-suite WC in the master bedroom. They are part of our Gold Plus range, so your beds will be made for your arrival, and you’ll be guaranteed a check-in time of 3pm. Situated in River Way..., all will enjoy views of the river.
The Waverley, with 2 bedrooms for up to 6 guests, also has a fabulous covered balcony with lighting set into the canopy. This is accessed by sliding patio doors from the lounge, extending your living space and giving you a wonderful open feel.
The Discovery has 3 bedrooms for up to 8 guests, and although similar in style to the Waverley interior, it has the patio furniture on decking to the side of the caravan.
Note: shown is the Waverley 2 bedroom. The Discovery’s living area configuration and decking differs. The manufacturer’s images are for Illustrative purposes only.

We stayed for week starting August bank holiday.

Brilliant family holiday. Entertainment great especially coral who became a favourite of my daughter's over the week.

Bar prices very reasonable. Food was perfectly fine. It wasn't fabulous but it wasn't vile either.

We used the chip shop a couple of times for post bingo chip butties.

The park was always very clean and staff were always very helpful.

The best thing by far is the pool. My 6 year old had plenty of space and within 4 days she'd learnt to swim with no armbands and the lifeguards were very encouraging towards her.

It's not a park with all the mod cons but focuses more on good family oriented entertainment.

Great holiday and worth every penny.

We live locally to Devon Valley.

I cannot praise the swimming pool staff highly enough! On my first visit I was really impressed to see each and every guest greeted and fare-welled, even going so far as to acknowledge that they hadn't seen them for a day or so, or that they had arrived a little later than usual. I got a real sense that each and every person counted.

This was echoed by the Restaurant team too. They were responsive to the needs of each child at a party we held and provided a menu that exceeded our expectations. We have a child who struggles with sensory processing and they turned the background music down upon our request as we knew that it would be a struggle for him. Plates were handed back empty and tummy's filled!

This is not an 'I loved it' review, because we continue to love it there. It's a wonderful environment where treasured memories are made...

Thank you all.

We have just returned from another fantastic stay at Devon Valley.

The entertainment team Lyndon and crew are fantastic and the Boathouse staff, Tony, Mika, Vanessa and the rest of the team were just amazing, so accommodating, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble.

Thank you for making our holiday a wonderful one yet again xxxx

User

We have just come back from a lovely holiday at Devon Valley.....my family enjoyed the onsite facilities and entertainment.

However.... the stand out experience for us was the Boathouse restaurant and it's truly exceptional staff.

It was with some trepidation we booked the half board option for our holiday.

Looking at the reviews and menu it seemed to offer everything we were after....however as our son has Autism , eating out is never quite so simple as that.

The first night, as we had expected my son became overwhelmed with the menus and choice on offer and became highly anxious and struggled to maintain calm.

As we began to worry if he would cope at all, the restaurant manager came over and began to talk with us....spotting and understanding my son's anxieties straight away.

He took the time to listen to my son and offered him reassurance that they could cater for him and he could order as he wished.

I can't tell you how rare it is to find this level of understanding and acceptance in general let alone in a busy restaurant setting.

He also introduced us to the deputy manager who would be running the breakfast service and again reassured us they would happily deal with any requests.

My son visibly relaxed after this conversation and from then on happily ate all his food and even felt relaxed enough to try new things.

In summary all the staff where helpful and attentive and the food was good quality and excellent value for money.

The time taken out however, to reassure an anxious child and make a few simple changes that allowed him to fully enjoy and engage in his family holiday.....well that was just priceless.

We came back a week ago from our holiday at Devon valley:) this was our first holiday just as a family, and we had the most amazing time! The staff were so friendly and helpful on the site in general and the lovely staff in the boat house restaurant were fab too! Always so professional and lovely to us, especially with our girls:) the evening entertainment team were AMAZING and clearly are passionate about their jobs and were great with the families on holiday. They were so talented and it was always great fun for both adults and children. One of our girls got stuck in one of the toilet cubicles on the last day, but one of the team came and happily helped out:) Thankyou so much to all the Devon valley staff for all of your hard work and for making our holiday so special ❤️

User

This was our 9th visit to Devon Valley and it was brilliant as usual. A few of the staff deserve a special mention. Firstly the reception and maintenance staff. It was very cold in the Otter Silver caravan the first few days and the heating couldn't cope so we rang reception to get a couple of heaters brought up. One heater arrived within an hour and another one was waiting for us when we got back after our day and they made a huge difference. Secondly the bar staff in Breakers. Unusually we got on better with the bar staff than the ents team this year. Special mentions to Dave & Josh who by the end of the week were preparing our drinks before we even got to the bar and were a great laugh too. On to the ents team. We've always got on really well with previous entertainment staff at DV, some of whom have remained friends long after they left the park. This year's team were harder to talk to. Ents manager Lyndon is very good at what he does and is very funny. Despite it being a very quiet week he remained professional and tried to get everyone involved. Coral was the stand-out member of the 2018 team and was brilliant with everything from the kids shows with Morris & Captain DV to her excellent singing voice. Oliver & Jazz were relatively inexperienced compared to the others and it did show at times. Oliver was the most engaging with the customers and we got on better with Oliver than the others. Jazz only really shone on the Thursday night in the Musicals Show where you could really tell her background was in musical theatre. As the week progressed they did speak to us a bit more but there was more hiding behind the stage at the end of the night than in previous years. It was good to see the end of "games night" which in previous years was unpopular with a lot of people as the DV promise of "Great entertainment 7 nights a week" was seriously put in to question. The quality of the team shows were excellent as usual with great singing, dancing and light shows as were the brought in acts especially Phil Blackmore who was awesome and special mention to Charley Cooke who sang brilliantly to just 4 people. Finally the only bad thing about our week. We have always gone to The Breakers Club every night during our holiday. This year we sat shivering in our coats all evening as it was absolutely freezing in there. On the first night we and other holidaymakers asked if the heating could be turned up. We were told there isn't any heating in the clubhouse which we found very odd considering the park is open from March to October. We've never had a problem with the temperature in the room before and we always holiday the same week every year with similar weather so we wondered if it was more likely this was a cost cutting measure as there were so few people about. Other than that it was a great holiday and we look forward to returning next year.

User

Just returned from a lovely weekend here with my husband and two children. The location of the park is outstanding and ideally situated for trips into Sheldon, Tiegnmouth and the surrounding areas. The park was exceptionally clean, swimming pool was lovely and warm and the kids loved the arcade and soft play which was perfect for our 2 year old. The children's entertainment was great and we stayed late one night to watch the evening entertainment which was very good. Every member of staff we encountered was helpful, polite and most importantly they were happy, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a chalet which was very roomy and came equipped with everything we needed, including fab views of the river! Our dog also had a great time as he came too, he enjoyed his walks down at the riverside when the tide was out and was even allowed in the family pub! All in all this is one of the nicest parks we've stayed at and we'll definately be back!

User

Just came back from a 5 day break with my husband and elderly father. We didn't want to leave! The setting of our caravan was so tranquil and picturesque. Staff at the boat house were the best!! We will definitely be going back!!

User

Had an absolutely great week, kids loved the activities especially swimming and arcades. Evening entertainment was amazing, even got to join in on the entertainment one evening. Will definitely recommended and will be back again no doubt. Thank you for an amazing week away, just a shame it went by so quickly.

User

Had a fabulous time here, the family loved it. Staff were all very friendly.

The entertainment staff were excellent, especially with the children. Our chalet was basic and cost a lot to heat, but that wasn't a problem because we had the option to pay a little extra to upgrade but decided to stay where we were, based on what we paid the accommodation was good value. The restaurant was lovely. Great food, great views, friendly staff. Have a give a shout out to the restaurant manager, the deputy manager and pretty much all the restaurant staff because they were all accepting and understanding of my son, who has autism, and finds eating out in new places a huge struggle. Nothing was too much trouble and my son could relax and enjoy the experience. This is especially significant because during our holiday it was Autism Awareness Week, and they went above and beyond all that we could of asked for. I would definitely come back and would recommend this place to others. Thank you Devon Valley.

User

Great little place for a family get away. Visited the weekend before last and everything was perfect. Thank you DV for a lovely little weekend. Everything on your doorstep to, visited Paignton zoo and Paignton pier. Wish we had book for longer as the weather was on our side to.

User

Back for our 17th year, had a great time as usual. Beautiful views, nicely located for walks into Shaldon and to drive (or take the boat ferry) into Teignmouth. Lyndon did a great job at getting the kids involved in the entertainment.

We didn't eat in the restaurant this time, but a lovely venue for fresh ice cream and coffee with stunning views. The staff were really friendly and helpful there.

Swimming pool was lovely and warm, and we enjoyed being able to use the adults only half hour in the morning (as well as swimming later with the kids)

Please could we have the return of the 9pm quiz though?

User

ABSOLUTLY love this place.

This was the second year we have been here, thoroughly enjoy it here. My husband was taken to hospital this year and the staff were amazing, from helping me whilst waiting for the ambulance to helping look after our dog whilst I was with him in hospital, checking on me as I was on my own, through to making my leaving as easy as possible. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. See you in September.

User

Lovely caravan overlooking the river with fantastic views. Club is clean but chairs could do with replacing. Shop is well stocked and the prices are what you would expect. The Boathouse Pub is the only let down. Ordered food at 6:10 and after lots of reminding the last meal arrived at 7:40, some arrived 20 mins before!!!!! Spoke to manager who advised us to eat the next night and it would be a different chef. Glad we didn’t because as we walked by we could see the same one. The meals weren’t the best when they did arrive with items missing and the salmon was inedible. Shame really, but as long as you don’t eat there the rest of the Park is lovely.

User

The accommodation was clean and very basic. The staff were pleasant and all doing their best.

The restaurant was basic offering average food that is cooked from frozen and at expensive prices.

The quality of food from the Takeaway was awful.... I mean, how can you get chips wrong?

The club house charging policy was shockingly expensive - £4.05 for a Vodka and Diet Coke in a short glass. The pint of cider I was served tasted like the glass had been washed out in a toilet.

To the management of this establishment - you have a captive audience. Serve good quality food freshly cooked, using fresh ingredients, serve good quality food and drinks at competitive prices.

Net result was - we didn’t want to either eat there or drink there after the first night.

Make it memorable for the right reasons - at the moment it is memorable for all the wrong reasons.

User

My family and I have been to Devon Valley before and absolutely love the location and the surrounding areas. Lovely views and walks. My daughters loved crab fishing and playing in the park.

Previously food in the Boathouse has been really nice and we was looking forward to it.

Sadly this time we was all very disappointed. First night we tried fish and chips. I witnessed a chef pick up cod with his fingers then put it back down. There was quite a bit of wait on the food. None of the chefs looked like they were dressed appropriately and they didn't seem to know what they were doing.

On Friday we ordered meals. First was told 30 minutes wait. Still no starter after almost 45 minutes. Food came out and it wasn't worth the wait. My partner ordered Nachos and got a bowl of crisps and grated cheese on top. None of it had melted.

I ordered garlic cheese pizza to share. Which was like eating cardboard. You could only eat a few mouthfuls before it went rock hard. The Base was obviously cooked on a dirty tray because there was pizza sauce underneath it.

The carvery was cold. Not much choice. For the price we paid I was expecting stuffing and Broccoli or some other vegetables too.

The same night I heard staff mentioning to loads of customers that they had ran out of lots of stuff. I'm hoping it improves and that this was a one off as we are hoping to return one day.

User

Had 5 days there the chalet needs updating. Not a lot for teenagers.indoor soft play is to small.

The staff did there best .some of the accommodation needs a lick of paint

User

So we went to the Boathouse for a bite to eat whilst in Shaldon.. if you're after poor service , unenthusiastic staff and a menu where 3/4 of the food isn't available then this is the place to go. All ate separately due to Chili Con Carne taking 1 hour to prepare , only to forget the main ingredients.. beans , mince but hey it was a great soup for my parents in law , with the presentation of a very good Picasso piece. Thank you for making the Hungry Horse chain comparable to the Ritz. P.s staff are only as good as your management, remember that...

User

Caravan was tiny noway near big enough. Let on top of each other. Food was ok. Entertainment was way too loud. I slipped on the wet caravan steps and hurt my arm and back. Reception was closed had to go to the restaurant to find a firsts aided to be told they don’t have ge book so can’t do anything and to go back to reception. Went back to reception to be told they weren’t open et so couldn’t open the shutters to deal with me so to wait! You should not have to wait for first aid care!
