I try to be positive in my posts but I am puzzled. I have signs about rubbish and recycling. Yet when I open up bags of rubbish they are full of cans and bottle etc. All could be sorted and put in the recycling. Even found a bag of dog poo in the recycling bin of glass. 😡😡.

User

I just love these old stone walls we have up the valley.

Great to see every body enjoying the open space and evening on the campsite this bank holiday weekend. Either with a camp fire or BBQ

User

Great to see these wasps working hard gathering food for this nest in the bank beside the track.

Took this video this morning

Don’t you just love these two rascals. Playing on the tree stumps.

The Thomas’s are very dear friends of ours. They farm in NSW Australia. They haven’t had rain for months. This is what their property looks like. As fellow Farmers we thought it was dry in the UK. That was nothing to compare with what they are struggling with. I sincerely hope their rain comes soon. Xx

Hedgerow harvest. Blackberries looking good this year. Better get picking and freezing. Looking forward to Apple and Blackberry crumble with clotted cream.

Goats and Geese get every were.

Gathering in the ewes and lambs from Exe Cleave this afternoon. Ready for weaning tomorrow.

User

Rescued this Butterfly this morning. Got a bit wet. I believe it’s a pearl-bordered fritillary, one of the butterfly species in decline in the UK due to the combined effects of climate change and intensive farming methods.

Recycling. I have been told that all the recycling eg. Glass, cans, plastic, paper etc from our Exmoor campsite and cottages has to go to landfill. No company will collect. This is disgraceful.
We are encouraged to sort and recycle as much as we can. But now we have been informed no company will come and collect. Sent an email saying it all has to go to landfill. Help needed. @pow_rebecca @BBCWatchdog @SomersetCouncil @wsomerset @SomersetWaste

What a great day every body had on the Exmoor Explorer event. Based at Westermill for the start and finish. Please share and post any photos you have. Thx

What an amazing campsite with great owners. They put trust into you to take as much fire wood needed and pay when you leave. Open fires ( field 4) , next to the river axe with sublime views..... 10 stars from myself as 5 doesn't account enough. We will be coming back for a return trip and hopefully even longer.

Also dog and child friendly, what more could you ask for.

Thankyou to the owners for such a lovely warm welcome and we look forward to our future camping trips with yourselves

User

What a fantastic place to be nothing like being there for a total relax time to unwind from the day to day running of life. My wife & i spent a week in June here in fieald 4 found a lovely spot at the bottom of the fieald by the river very relaxing.. and of course Oliver & jill made us very welcome.. Will be returning in September

We loved this site, 4 adults, Grandma, Grandad, mum, dad and 2 little ones, everything spot on, family showers with a Bull looking in, washing up, chickens, geese and pigs accidentally running wild one evening and stealing all in their path. Brilliant fun, with the River Axe, ripe swings etc. Fab little shop on site for essentials, and good local co-op or similar close by. Book early as they are sure to sell out fast for this beautiful summer. We can't wait to come back

User

We have just come back from the best weekend. We were nervous about taking our two year old for the first time but this is definitely a place to be enjoyed by all ages!! Plenty to see and do and all in such a beautiful setting. Lovely friendly staff and very entertaining geese!! We can't wait to return!!

User

We have been coming here on and off for 30 years, camping and caravanning. This year we rented a lodge as it was early October. It is a beautiful, peaceful place with such friendly relaxed owners and the lodges are lovely. Great location for walking with some super pubs around to eat and drink. Highly recommend a visit for a relaxing and/or active break.

User

We (four adults) camped in the top field by one of the fire pits...lovely to sit round and cook on a camp fire...although there were quite a few big family and friends gatherings, and lots of kids, the field is enormous and a sense of peace prevailed...it was such a pleasure to be there and to see children enjoying themselves the same way we did half a century ago - playing in the river, climbing trees, being free...perfect campsite!

User

My favorite place to camp, been twice now, set up in the 4th field, next to the stream, campfire, beautiful scenery, so relaxing, what more could you possibly want, always sad to leave...an absolute privilege to be able to share and enjoy such a beautiful place...see you soon Westermill and thankyou.

User

Just such a great place to relax. The Edwards family are very chilled even though they run a working farm, campsite and also lodges. Campsite is lovely to with great showers and toilets and camp fire's on the bottom feild, with the river running through the farm. Lovely walks round the farm and the night sky is truly amazing! We stayed in the Wurttleberry lodge very well equipped and very comfortable. Thanks Oliver and Jill.

User

Just got back from 5 days of camping. My 2nd time at Westermill and certainly won't be the last. Beautiful countryside and the kids loved it especially playing in the river and the tree swings. Would highly recommend it.

User

Just back home after a wonderful week in Molinia Cottage with my sister and niece and dogs. Comfortable, warm. every thing you need and more. Over the years I think I have stayed with various members of my family in all of the cottages except Gorse, and found them all to the same high standard. I have to say I haven't camped, but the campsites look beautiful, peaceful and plenty of space, and you can have campfires! Such a beautiful spot, so many places to walk, eat, explore that it's hard to make a decision! Or just stay and walk around the farm, chat to the friendly geese who visit for breakfast, take in the peace and views of an Exmoor Hill farm and just chill. Jill and Oliver Edwards and the Edwards family are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Only downside is - I had to come home!

User

Just back from four nights camping in the fourth field. Cooked on an open fire every night. Watched the stars when the clouds allowed. Even though Rachel is 13, she loved the rope swings across the river. We enjoyed the beautiful walks around the farm. We would definitely recommend this site for those that want to get away from everything.

User

I have stayed at Westermill several times and always look forward to returning again. My preferred pitch, besides the river at the far end of the 4th field, is simply sublime! (groups of young D of E participants use this field for overnight stopovers but tend to gather both sides of the track near the toilet block at the field entrance). Being a working farm in such a splendid location, it is a delight to be gently woken by the sound of natures very own alarm. Not only the calming sound of the babbling brook, and the enchanting morning chorus from the birds and other wildlife, but also the farms very own cattle and sheep in the adjacent fields.

All the amenities you need are here and are kept spotlessly clean with constant hot water, provided by the camps own solar energy panels.

In fact, I like Westermill so much I now use it as a benchmark when comparing other sites.

User

Have been camping here for years. Love it

User

Glorious setting, my 9yr old loved the river dipping & paddling & tickling the fish. Swing over the river was a big hit. Facilities were immaculately clean & the drying room though not used by us this visit is a brilliant idea. Hosts could not have been more welcoming or friendly & the shop is well stocked with local produce (bacon & sausages were especially good). We will be back again soon. Thank you for having us & wish we had stayed longer.

User

Fantastic, relaxed and peaceful site. A river runs through the bottom of the valley, so the kids are entertained - all day long. Very friendly owners, and gorgeous farm dogs who came to visit.

User

Excellent facilities, cottages are beautifully equipped. Stunning area for riding and walking. Thank you so much for a wonderful long weekend away (and sorry you had a late night pony visitor ;). ) We will be back!

User

Brilliant! Second time we have stayed in one of the self catering lodges and we all had a great time young and old. The kids loved being on the farm and playing in the river, even in February. Perfect place for kids to puddle jump, walk and just be kids! Owners made us feel very welcome to.

User

Beautiful spot. Myself and my 3 young children absolutely love it here. All the space they need to run...explore. ..meet the animals. A perfect place for a picnic...play... and stay right by the river. We sat and ate our picnic yesterday whilst watching a red weasel play along the river bank. Memory's to last

User

A glorious campsite in a very peaceful setting. Just come back from a 4 night stay here where we camped alongside the stream. Beautiful setting, great facilities, lovely walks, scenery and lots of wildlife to look out for including red deer and a barn owl outside our tent at dusk. A lovely working farm with cows and sheep and geese never far away.
