Wonderful views an ideal place to soak up the seaside atmosphere and have a drink or a meal. The last time I went was for Monday music night we had an excellent meal of cajun chicken and rice. I can highly recommend Monday nights. ☺️

We walk from the North bay down to the South every weekend and always end up in the Farrers bar. The food is always good and the staff are always extremely helpful and always give you service with a smile.

Great pub food, top location sea view,

Having come regularly to Farrar's on day visits from Whitby with my dog (extremely well behaved and friendly spaniel), we have now been 'zoned' forcing all dog owners and their pets to sit in a small area to the right of the bar. That's just not for us I'm afraid. If you are travelling with children you have the freedom of the whole cafe (and 98% of cafes in S'bro - not the most doggy friendly place on earth) so I guess if the families and couples and groups take up the dog friendly seats, we dog owners will have to take our business else where!?

But that's not the worst! Stained tea pots, chipped cups, surly staff. Heck, this place really has gone to the dogs - or not as the case quite clearly is now

User

Well .. what can I say poor poor service... ordered a breakfast and 2 coffees £18.00 1piece of egg, sausage, bacon, hash brown, mushrooms and a tbs of beans pale white toast it arrived ..... swimming in grease. . No cuttlery or butter had to ask the girl serving who had to get them for us begrudgingly.... really I would just expect the basics.. we have also just watched her bring out an orange juice in a bottle and then have to be asked for a glass to put it... same thing has happened to every single person who she is serving come on people I think she needs some help just train her up and stop letting her flounder...

User

Having been a few times previously, yesterdays visit was disappointing. When we arrived one of our party asked at the bar if we needed to order at the bar and she was told “No, Lucy will come over and take your orders”. Waited 10-15 mins for Lucy to come over. Then we’re told, “no you need to order at bar!”???

There was not much choice on the beer front with almost everything off! When food came my husband and mine came out a good 10 minuets before our children’s. Everyone on the table was half way through before they got their food. My vegetarian club sandwich was awful. Just a pile of soggy salad between slightly toasted bread. Not really impressed. Doubt I’ll be back next time we visit Scarborough.

User

Have always called in Farrer's for a bacon baguette and coffee on our visits to Scarborough, unfortunately they have stopped doing these after 11.00 now, so we ordered toast instead ....it had been cremated and then scraped! It should never have been served like that .

We feel standards have slipped and were very disappointed this visit.

User

Clean enough cant knock that, staff are nice, food is ok but the drinks are shocking ! When you have water in a glass it kills a pint and its flat in mins, very poor, having tested a few all went dead within 2mins hence we moved on.

User

Really nice friendly place to eat & drink, right on the sea front!

User

Ordered tea and a couple of drinks at the bar however were told to sit down and they would bring the tea to us after 20 minutes we went back to the bar fearing they had requested the tea from China , to be told we have given it to you ! Showing the table we were sitting at , there was nothing been served to us ! Oh we must have put it on the wrong table ! No it was you were all talking behind the bar ! Got the tea after 30 minutes and were told we have given you a free biscuit ! Whoppee !! We have been several times and this was the worst ! Don't know if we would return , food is normally great !

User

Ordered fish and chips twice, paid at bar and sat outside. Five minutes later lady came out and told us she had undercharged us and we would have to pay £5.90 more (embarrassing). Food arrived looked good but looking again chips in a small chip basket, mushy peas and tartar sauce in tiny pots. Large fish but unfortunately had skin left on which I have no intention of eating . Meaning the skin with batter is left on one side (in this day and age when 95% of places skin and bone) and on tasting was quite bland. Very poor value for money.
