Frome Nursing Home Description
Frome Care Village: Always improving the lives of those that we look after, allowing them to fulfill the rest of their lives with dignity, respect and in-dependency. We are a 60 bed home, helping to support nursing and dementia needs. Over the past few years, this home has had its ups and downs dealing with CQC and the newspaper. As of the recent CQC results it is clear that our home is succeeding in becoming again one of the most caring and best care homes in Frome. That could not of been done without the constant effort and hard work from the staff itself and the support that relatives and others have given us, this has allowed us to make our home a dementia friendly house.

Frome Nursing Home also thanked the Co-operative for the donation saying: “When somebody comes to live with us, we gather their life history in order to understand what has been meaningful in their lives, in order to make their days purposeful”- the money received will be spent on items to enable them to fulfill this.”

A Dementia expert from Frome is promoting the use of music to assist those living with the condition. Karen Tidy is a Senior Nurse at Frome Care Village, the 60-bed nursing and care home that has recently been rated all Good by Care Quality Commission. She spoke to the BBC about her research and findings and the positive role music can play within dementia care.
She became interested in music as a therapy tool after noticing the powerful effect it had on people living with dementia. It seems that the memory of music heard as a young person or a teenager, seems to remain intact, many decades later, even when that person is diagnosed with dementia and can no longer remember who their friends or family are. Here she talks on BBC Radio Somerset about it.
