Many thanks to the C.R.Y Charity for their hard work in screening 113 young nailsea people today. Special thanks also to Nailsea United FC for their continued fundraising to bring the Charity to us today and to raise the awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young.

SCREENING WITH CRY TODAY AT THE GROVE!
More than 100 sports people will be getting a heart check-up this weekend thanks to fundraising by Nailsea United Football Club in memory of player James Colman who died three years ago aged 22. Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. The club hosted several fundraising events and with support from the Grove Sports & Social Centre reached its £5k target in order to host a CRY(Cardiac Risk in t...he Young) screening day in memory of James. Chairman Chris Adamson said: “We are one of only a few amateur sports clubs in the UK to host an screening day and certainly the only football club in North Somerset.” A total of 108 men and women have booked 10 minute slots between 9am-4pm on Saturday, August 10. Chris said: “James was an incredibly special and much loved player at Nailsea United and this day could potentially save a life. “Confidential screening involves completing a health questionnaire, doctor’s consultation and ECG. “The purpose is to not only screen as many people as possible but to raise awareness regarding current and potential future heart conditions.” Weather permitting the club will also be holding a barbecue and competitions using kit supplied by @thegym.
