Today we attended court regarding recent thefts that have taken place at our property. On the 15th of March we had notice from a staff member that the gym money had gone missing again. After a theft we had in December we felt it necessary to put CCTV in place within the school to protect our students and staff as well as our property.
On checking the CCTV on the night of 15th March, we discovered that Mike Scott of Mike Scott Decorators, husband of one of our teachers had en...tered our property on the Sunday morning of 10th March using her keys that he had 'borrowed' without her permission, which is the video you can see below.
After further checking the CCTV we could see that Mike has regularly entered our premises on 4 occasions within 4 weeks. Unfortunately this is the furthest back our CCTV would go, so the previous times when money has gone missing, we can't prove who it was, however there is a link in the M.O. between all the thefts leading back for 5 years.
Over the 4 different times we have caught on CCTV you can see Mike taking staff wages, kids earnings from performances, tuck shop money, rehearsal fees. As you will see in the footage, these burglaries were done with cold calculating malicious intent.
All students and staff have felt under suspicion in what can only be described as a horrendous time for all involved at the school. We are absolutely devastated that you have all felt suspicious of each other and not comfortable in a place that most of you call your second home.
These burglaries were often when Julie was on holiday or when Mike knew we had competitions etc. We can't describe the disappointment and heart break we are feeling at being betrayed by someone who Julie has trusted and called a friend.
Please make everyone you know aware of this situation as Mike is a painter and decorator, with access to peoples' properties, some of whom are vulnerable.
We have already had people come forward with similar stories of money & property going missing whilst Mike has been working in their houses. If you have any suspicions of incidents involving Mike Scott, please contact the Police and ourselves, so we can collate the evidence and inform the police.
Today Mike pleaded guilty at Magistrates Court to all 4 offences. However he has been sentenced to 26 weeks suspended! 100 hours community service and a fine of £400. Mike said to his probation officer he didn't want to go to jail as he would be unable to work in Scarborough any longer. Please help spread the word so that Mike does not have the opportunity to steal from vulnerable people.

It's great to have such positive feedback from past pupils. Lucy is currently working at Virgin EMI Records.
If you are currently looking for a dance school that will teach you more than just how to dance, look no further.
