HBS fisheries also offer fishery management services which include electrofishing using a state of the art Electracatch WFC4 – High Voltage pulsed DC electrofishing system. The WFC4-HV machine is suitable for catching fish in low conductivity rivers and burns. This machine is also extremely effective when working in lakes and larger rivers. This equipment employs a transformer with switched output voltages, thereby enabling a range of outputs to be used. The output voltages may be selected to suit the characteristics of the freshwater lakes or rivers where the equipment is being used. We also have seine nets manufactured with lead line or weights at the bottom - this helps us to combat the problem of lakes with silty bottoms. Nets with lead lines are used for silty bottom lakes and nets with weights are used for gravel bottom lakes.

Fish transportation throughout the UK using our specialist vehicles which are fully equipped with insulated tanks and electric air blowers or oxygen cylinders to make sure the fish are transported with minimal stress and arrive in tip top condition.

Fish micro-chipping is also available to mark and monitor fish growth and movement of fish, this is carried out using our specially trained staff. We can also supply scanners and signage etc to protect your fishery.

Water quality testing for PH, oxygen levels, conductivity, ammonia and nitrates.

Groundcare maintenance such as mowing or spraying using our compact Mitsubishi MT20 four wheel drive tractor and other specialist equipment.

Several anglers in the last week or so catching fish to mid twenties, lots of 20lb plus commons out recently with the odd larger mirror being caught too.

User

Andy Quinn braved the wet & windy weather to be rewarded by this 24lb Common, a 17lb 4oz mirror and lost another fish.

Well February is nearly over and it has been a very busy month netting lakes and delivery stock fish to various fisheries, angling clubs and private waters, with the majority of fish now sold, although some larger carp still available. Today we have been carrying out a fish removal in Marsh Lane Brook to allow for a new culvert to be built for a new road scheme, nice to see so many fish and eels caught as I did not expect to catch much, around 900 stickleback, stone loach and eels in a 150m stretch not bad for a small brook.

We still have fish available for this winter, we currently have carp between 0.5lb - 17lbs, Bream to 1lb, and some crucians. Contact me or phone 07966239436 for prices and more info

New member Gary Lawton had a brilliant session in the cold weather landing four fish, topped by this nice 20lb 8oz VS mirror below, this is a new PB for Gary and I am sure he will soon have more PB's to come.

User

Well since the drain down the lake has been fishing really well Aaron Challinder has been in the action landing a 30lb 8oz, a 28lb and several other twenties and uppers, Tony Lockton also had a 30lb plus Mirror and several other fish, most anglers catching on smaller hook baits from most areas of the lake.

Well it the end of a busy week I have just turned off the pump refilling the specimen lake which is now full again, Thursday & Friday saw us removing snags, reed beds and spreading dung on the bed of the lake to encourage natural food such as bloodworm etc, see picture below not the nicest of jobs! plus cleaning and disinfecting nets etc. I would like to wish our members and customers a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Thanks Richard

This week has seen us drain down our specimen lake and net the lake to remove small fish, we netted it today and caught 128 carp between 7lb and 30lb plus, we have hand selected the best 68 fish to go back in the lake these are nearly all 15lb plus, and removed 60 that averaged 10lbs, we also removed a 138lb of smaller carp and around 200lb of perch, tomorrow we will remove the some of brambles, reeds and snags and work dung into the bottom of the lake to encourage bloodworm etc and then start to refill. Hopefully now we can get the full potential from the stock in the next few years. Tight Lines Richard.

Well what an end to a busy week, Thursday Luke & I delivered another 1000 Crucians to Northam Farm ready for next season see pictures below, today we netted a lake for a small private angling club lake to remove small fish from there specimen lake and I have to say there were some cracking fish in there, carp to 36lb 10oz and lots of 20lbs plus fish, grass carp to around 25lb, cracking perch with plenty in the 2 - 4lb bracket and Tench to 8lb plus sorry no pics as zero publicity water and I don't blame them. Cheers Richard

Biosecurity is really important to us, but this time of year more than ever, vehicles & tanks have to be washed and disinfected with Virkon S between each delivery and nets have to be cleaned & disinfected every time they are used this generally takes at least half a day after every days netting.

User

Fitting new screens to lake culverts at Burnham on Sea Holiday village today, it is important to make sure all outlet screens are maintained to prevent fish escaping into other water courses.
