The process that brings a person to counselling is unique to each individual, but it can be an unsettling time. There is often a growing awareness that s /he is feeling stuck and unable to change things alone. The hope counselling offers within a supportive relationship is a way out. I work with all types of concerns such as depression, anxiety, addictive behaviours, abuse, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, anger and acting out behaviours, self-harm, eating disorders and life changes.

Experience:
I have worked in the field of Counselling and Psychology since 1997 when I trained at a centre specialising in the treatment of adults, children and teenagers who have experienced various types of abuse using both individual and group therapy, also play therapy and puppet work with children.
From there I joined a college counselling team helping young people deal with problems which were threatening their personal and academic or career success. The work was mainly individual counselling, but we also developed groups responding to the unique experiences of college age students. I taught seminars on issues such as addictive behaviours, sex and dating, suicide, eating disorders, mental health problems in men, and excellence in leadership.
From here I set up in private practice and provided assessments and counselling for various agencies and work with a fostering agency in the South West of England. I have worked with people coming back into the community after inpatient treatment. I have an advanced DBS.
Further training in:
Depression, Understanding the Brain in Counselling, Sexual Addiction, Sexual Abuse, Anxiety disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorders, Effects of Cannabis on the Brain and Treatment, Play Therapy.
Fee £40 individual, £60 couple. Reduced fee possible for unemployed and low-income clients.
Groups and seminars possible within schools, colleges and universities and businesses.
Evening hours available on Exmoor only.
