MEDITATIONS FOR WORLD PEACE * NEW FREE CLASS * ~ Wednesdays, 1pm - 1.45pm ~ With Kadampa Buddhist Teacher, Lynn Darnton ~ At Dharmavajra Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Springfield House, Ffynone Road, Uplands, Swansea SA1 6DE
... Open to everyone, this drop-in class includes a relaxing guided meditation, short teaching and inspiring chanted prayers. Discover how we can achieve a peaceful world by establishing peace within our own mind and learning to cherish others. Each week we will cover a small section from the book, Eight Steps to Happiness: The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness, through which we can develop authentic love and compassion that will change our own and others’ lives. This uplifting class is a way to make a positive contribution to our world.
“With compassion, we make dedications and pray to develop and maintain inner and outer peace and harmony. We know there are so many dangers and problems arising right now, war and terrible things. We try to repair, to pacify, to cause all dangers and obstacles to cease through our prayers. With compassion, we pray every day for world peace, that the people of this world will experience peaceful and happy minds and meaningful lives. Through our pure intention, the power of our prayers and particularly through receiving blessings from enlightened beings, results will come, definitely.” ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, teaching at the opening of the US Kadampa World Peace Temple, October 2006
Lynn Darnton is a warm hearted teacher who has been practising Kadampa Buddhism for over 20 years. Lynn is known for his compassion and gentle approach to giving teachings.

MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION * FREE CLASS * ~ Tuesdays, 1pm - 1.45pm ~ With Kadam Mike Garside ~ At Dharmavajra Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Springfield House, Ffynone Road, Swansea SA1 6DE
... Meditation is a method for cultivating inner peace, and mindfulness enables us to bring this peace with us into our daily lives. In these increasingly busy and stressful times we all need to find a way to make our mind peaceful because genuine and lasting happiness is impossible without inner peace. Through meditation we learn to gradually reduce states of mind that produce stress and unhappiness – such as anxiety, anger, fear, dependency, jealousy, low self-esteem and a sense of meaninglessness – and replace them with open, loving, wise and peaceful states. These classes are suitable for everyone, beginners and more experienced meditators alike. No need to book, just drop-in.
Mike is the main teacher at Dharmavajra Buddhist Centre in Swansea. He has been practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism in the UK and Spain for over 30 years under the direct guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. "We need to acknowledge our delusions and take responsibility for overcoming them, but to do this effectively we need to distance ourself from them. For example, we can think: 'Self-cherishing is presently in my mind, but it is not me. I can destroy it without destroying myself.' In this way we can be utterly ruthless with our delusions but kind and patient with ours...elf." ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, The New Eight Steps to Happiness

Initially calling into the centre very early in September 2017 with an inquiry regarding the foundation program. Something drew me away and subsequently realised it was the wrong decision. Now coming back to the centre and attending this last few weeks, it had been a Joy. Mike has been very welcoming and really resonate with his style of teaching, he's very open minded. Also thanking all who attend the centre, who have been very friendly and welcoming also. Much love Andrew.

I have been self practising meditation and self hypnosis after I attended a Buddhist meditation class in Newport 8yrs ago when pregnant with my daughter.

I practice meditation as often as I can gaining energy and positivity within. Due to this I feel the need that I would like to learn more about meditation.

I have never been a religious person, but have felt something strong and powerful within me. I am fascinated with the Buddhism beliefs and philosophy and want to learn and gain more knowledge of this.

Due to this I decided to attend a workshop, which was my first workshop and first time at attending the Dharmavajra Kadampa Buddhist Centre. I was made to feel welcome and felt very relaxed in the surroundings. I enjoyed the teaching about the Heart jewels of the Kadampas. I enjoyed the meditation and felt mesmerised listening to the melodic chanting prayers

I would highly recommend someone who was looking to find happiness and relaxation within themselves to attend a workshop or class within their local area to learn how to free the mind from the stresses or strains of the modern day world and feel blessed within and appreciate and love life

I hope to be able to attend another workshop in the near future

Having attended the opening ceremony of the original Centre, conducted by Gen La Thubten many years ago, and having subsequently received an Empowerment and teachings in the present Centre building, I have enjoyed a very long connection with Dharmavajra Centre. A couple of months ago I also enjoyed the pleasure and good fortune of staying in the Centre over a weekend visit.

I do love Dharmavajra Kadampa Buddhist Centre: the teachings are given by very skilled teachers in a lovely meditation room in a very pleasant Centre building. The Centre management care very much for residents, students and visitors, offering excellent care, friendship and. hospitality.

I definitely look forward to returning to Dharmavajra Kadampa Buddhist Centre.
