Dear all :-) this is just a gentle reminder about our Christmas closure times this year. Today is the last posting day for UK pre-Christmas delivery!! (so get your skates on if you need something in time for the holidays!) And Thursday (tomorrow!) is our last official posting day for the year.. Mum's Applecore Quilt (continued).. Hmm, I think it is about time to think about a different name for the baby! 🤔 (any ideas?) Anyhow, I thought a lot of ladies would like to see how to 'finish' a quilt top like that (which has been paper pieced), so here are a few pointers for you: -pick your 'border' fabric and cut generous strips (also in length!!) -mark a 'placement guide line' with pencil or marker pen... -pin the paper pieced edge onto the strip (with the papers inside!! DO NOT remove the papers in the outside edge of your project!!) -tack/baste into place and then applique the edge onto the strip (with a blind-stitch or ladder stitch) -then remove the tacking stitches, turn over, and trim away excess border fabric (behind the paper pieces) -remove the last paper pieces 😊 You will do this to the opposite sides of the quilt at the same time and later 'mitre' the border strips at the corners. Taking shape.. 🙂(Applecore quilt continued) After quite a bit of deliberating about the pattern idea my mum may have had at the time, I started to lay them out and over the last few months I have been stitching remaining pieces together! I have also learned to use a 'Thimble patch'(the sticky little leather patches) as my fingers were suffering quite a bit!!😥 And because my mums paper pieces were of the home-made kind there was quite a bit of 'adjusting' to be done as I was s...ewing along 😉 The whole process is quite moving, as you can imagine.. even more so as this is the last of my mums EPP quilts to be finished!! (which feels 'weird' in so many ways) As you can see it is a 'colour-wash' design - she was really into those!! 😊 now I have to attach the borders(dark blue of course! Mums colours! 😉) I do promise to post a large picture soon, so you get a better idea. Until then 😘 Nxxx

What fabulously amazing service I got from Lina Patchwork today! I had a lovely chat with the lady on the phone as I placed my order too! I ordered yesterday afternoon and here it is this morning! Received some wonderful Happy Mail from Lina Patchwork this morning! So impressed, I ordered yesterday morning, and my piercing papers came today (free delivery, no less) and not only that, a gift of a pack of hexies in addition to the diamonds I ordered 😁
