Marlens Description
Welcome to Clevedon Marine Lake, a sea filled lake, refreshed on high spring tides, maintained by MARLENS - Registered Charity 1156426. This a wild swimming location, not a Lido. It's a great asset and it's free. That's the model; there are no lifeguards, so please make your own risk assessment, stay safe and enjoy!
Events are organised from time to time, when the lake may be closed for short periods. There is and always has been a no dog in or around the lake rule. The beach in front of the Little Harp is dog friendly.
Depths of the lake are posted around the walls. Please wear something on your feet to avoid slipping. The nearest public toilets are behind the amusement arcade and near the bowling club entrance. Please take your rubbish home to recycle if possible.
Reviews
Our refill tap is by the shuttered area next to the Coastguard Station. We are now registered on a free national refill station app which tells you where you can fill up with fresh drinking water for free! Thank you Plastic Free Clevedon making us famous!

My wife came down for the New years day swim for her first time and was very welcomed and really enjoyed the experience, Please turn the heating on next time, Haha
I have only just begun swimming in the marina. It takes a bit of getting used to the opaque silty brown water and slimy mud and weed underfoot. Anyway .... after 5 swims in 2 weeks I am a complete convert ... I LOVE IT ... and I haven't even been in there on a sunny day yet!! Which reminds me ... I wish there were still the black and white changing huts as it is very tricky and unnerving trying to change on the edge of the lake when it's rainy and windy and with lookers-on seeing you attempting to pretend you are not battling with your drenched swimming costume the elements and your modesty!
Great facility for so many different activities. I really like the way there is a dedicated team looking after it, from litter picking to signage to technical stuff.
Fantastic! The Marlens provide a truly valuable service to the North Somerset community. I feel privileged to have access to such a wonderful amenity and even more so to be able to help out.
Fabulous first outdoor swim of the season! Beautiful location and fantastically maintained, I look forward to more swims when I'm next southwestward. Thank you Marlens!
