James has been busy again building a fantastic wooden gazebo. To give everybody some shade from the loverly sun and this weekend the rain. Do come and see us to sample something off our eattery menu or even a afternoon tea. Love Caroline Ps it has been that warm we even had our tea on our own beach. Please let us know if u would like this fantastic experience.

I only nipped out for some shopping and came back to discover that the estate manager(James) had discovered a fire in the garden! Seriously a guest had thrown a cigarette but into the pampas grass. It could have been much more catastrophic but luckily we had a high pressure hose pipe out. As the fire spread to other plants within 30 seconds. please no smoking at moat in any part of the premises. We are open tomorrow as usual as the farmhouse and gazebo were not damaged. Do come and sit in the gazebo and enjoy some food as it is lovely and cool in this hot weather. Love Caroline PS do come and have a laugh watching James trying to dig the remainder of the plant out. Top photo is the damage.

Dear Lovely Guests
We have had such a gorgeous week with so many people enjoying themselves in the sun in the garden. This weekend (Saturday 9th June and Sunday 10th June) we have John's birthday and a Ruby Wedding Celebrationi so we will open on the Saturday until 1.30pm only and then close to bake and prepare for the Wedding Celebration. We will be closed all day Sunday. We have purchased a Gazzebo (well more of a marquee really!) and this is available for hire too for private parties - weekends only and wonderful when used with the caravan too). Do come and see us and the donkeys who are enjoying the weekends in the track to the beach.
Love Caroline

Moat Farm is the oldest farm in low Furness having been given to the local Baron by William the Conquerer in 1189. The current farm house which is the setting for our tea rooms was built in 1759 as soom of you may have seen as you passed by as the foundations were being installed !!!! Most of our customers will have noticed we have been busy re decorating our two reception rooms. The Morning Room (painted in a vibrant Monet Yellow) houses a large dinning table and has a pitc...h pine floor. A great room for a private party for up to 8 people. The Music room (painted in stunning Wedgwood Blue) also has pitch pine flooring and 3 tables each seating 4 people, with a lovely warm coal fire. The Farmhouse was previously the Constituency home of Barrow MP and Cabinet Minister John Hutton and it was in this room that he told us that he wrote his best speeches😂 Jame's latest project has been accomplished. This is the the transformation of the Old Dairy from a dumping ground into a cosy rustic room seating upto 14 people. A great room for a family gathering. Don't forget we serve hot food at Moat Farm Tuesday-Sunday 11:30 till 5pm with a varied menu, all home cooked using local produce. So now its getting cold outside come to our cosy Farmhouse. Whilst booking is not essential it is always recomended to ensure a reserved table.

Tomorrow Sunday ;Ash; our lovely horse; will be coming to the front of the house with the donkeys so why not bring the children to meet them and pop in for some lovely home made food with proper roast beef and roast potatoes and home made Yorkies

Once upon a time (well, yesterday to be precise) two Extremely Nice Ladies arrived at Moat Farm Tea Rooms and explained that they were very hungry. We settled them down in the Music Room and they enjoyed the Roast Beef Lunch and in particular the home made Yorkshire Puds. I happened to mention when serving them that I was thinking of making an Apple, Sultana and Cinammon Crumble. The Extremely Nice Ladies were very keen on that so John was despatched to the orchard to pick... the apples and Pat and I started work on the Crumble. Twenty minutes later, the Extremely Nice Ladies were served with the freshest of freshest Crumbles and said that when eating it, they felt like they had "died and gone to heaven".
Thank you, Extremely Nice Ladies, for your lovely comments. I wasn't having the best of days at the time and that really cheered me up. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

We went for afternoon tea for Mothers day and it was absolutely lovely. Lovely sandwiches, cakes and scones to die for! All topped off with a walk in the beach. To quote my kids "best day EVER!"

User

We happened on the tea rooms yesterday. We sat inside because we had been out most of the day in the glorious sunshine. We had homemade soup and a sandwich and a fish finger cob. Absolutely gorgeous!! The service was brilliant very chatty hosts, asked about the history of the moat and took a walk down to the shoreline sat in a little glade watching the antics of quite a tame little robin. What a stunning find- if we ever up this way again it is certainly a must!!

User

We had a lovely afternoon tea at Moat Farm. Started in the farmhouse but we quickly moved to the vintage caravan when we realised it was there. Caroline and her husband mentioned tea could be taken in the orchard in the caravan so we did. A great way to celebrate a friends birthday, delicious food in lovely surroundings. I recommend it.

User

We called here for lunch today on our way out of Barrow....... what can I say...... delightful tea rooms, roaring coal fire to warm you on a frosty day, had the most delicious broccoli and Stilton soup, ham sandwich with side salad, very tasty ham, good cafetière of coffee. Really enjoyed our lunch. Will be going there again.

User

Spent a truly lovely afternoon here with a friend today... A warm welcome, a homely venue (the open fire a real treat!), attention to detail with regards to the food was spot on and we can't wait to have an evening meal here. The bread & butter pudding is highly recommended, light and fluffy and delicious! We will be back!

User

Me and my partner went for the first time today after hearing great reviews. We were greeted by a very polite gentleman who showed us to our seats and could not do enough for you. We both ordered a breakfast and tea for 2. Didn’t wait very long for our order and my oh my what a breakfast! Absolutely beautiful! All the food was locally sourced which in my eyes makes it taste all the better! Pot of tea for 2? Actually got 6 cups out of it! All the staff were very friendly. Could not recommend it any more. Looking forward to trying more on the menu. Well worth a visit!

User

Lovely, relaxed setting in the garden, celebrating our Nana’s 89th birthday with the family. Food was delicious, clean plates all round. Thank you

User

Just been for afternoon tea today with my family and i couldnt fault it. Food was lovely and great portions for the price..had to bring a few cakes home for later. Friendly staff and a nice little farm/tea room setting. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again

User

Just arrived home after afternoon tea with friends at Moat Farm. The food was excellent and plenty of it. We added chips to our meal and they were the best homemade chips I have eaten since my dear, late mother in law who had been a wiz with the old chip pan.

We then enjoyed a walk down to the beach area. All very enjoyable and leisurely.

The couple who run this little gem are very warm and friendly. We are already planning a return visit when we hope to try a roast dinner.

Highly recommended.

User

Had two lovely lunches last week. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and my puppy even got some chicken and roast beef when I said she’d been off her food. Would highly recommend Moat Farm.

My only disappointment is that I didn’t know they were doing Christmas Lunch or I would have booked for my Mum and myself.

User

Had a wonderful time at Moat Farm this afternoon with Helen, Harry and Pepa celebrating Helen's birthday.

The afternoon tea was lovely, the service friendly and efficient and the setting gorgeous. The perfect way to spend an afternoon. Thanks Caroline, can't wait to return.

User

Great lunch/afternoon tea. Chip butty was great and we loved the cakes! Very accommodating for the children and friendly owners. Quirky setting in the farmhouse dining room, having tea in someone’s house! Only criticism was no high chair available which made it awkward holding baby all meal but food made up for it

User

First time at Moat Farm Tea Rooms .. Had a lovely afternoon tea & it's safe to say l'll be returning again very soon to try out other dishes on menu ... What a lovely friendly couple who run the cosy tearooms, made my friend & I extremely welcome & comfortable ... Highly recommended ...

User

Booked the vintage caravan for Father's Day and a birthday treat for one of my sisters. We loved it. The vintage caravan is brilliant and has such character, brought to life by the vintage china, old teddies, crochet blankets etc. Perfect and cosy. Could not fault the food. Lovely selection and cakes to die for, and the main menu looks great. All of this is delivered by the fab staff who are friendly, polite, helpful and smiley. Going again? Oh yes!!

User

A delightful afternoon tea served in lovely cosy surroundings with a real fire and pretty crockery. A great selection of finger sandwiches served with a variety of chutneys, scones with butter, jam and cream, scrumptious cakes and a pot of tea. The staff are friendly and made us very welcome, can certainly recommend to others.
