About Neal'S Yard Remedies Bath

We have been offering organic, natural health and beauty in Bath since 2001. Come in and have a cup of the herbal tea and say hello.

Neal'S Yard Remedies Bath Description

The franchise of Neal’s Yard Remedies in Bath is co-owned by three natural health practitioners. Elizabeth Season an Australian-trained Naturopath, Jon Huxley is an Acupuncturist and Amanda Lewis Starks, a Medical Herbalist. We opened the shop at No. 7 in 2001 after working for Neal’s Yard Remedies for many years.

In September 2014 we moved a few doors up the street to larger premises giving us four therapy rooms and a lovely new shop.

We are all dedicated to ensuring that natural healthcare remains a viable choice for people and all became involved with Neal’s Yard Remedies for this reason. Our aim is for the Natural Therapy Rooms and the shop, to be a places that people find welcoming, helpful and inspiring.

Anxiety, we all have experienced it at some point or another. Often it comes in a form of worrying, restless mind. It can be stress related, overwhelming list of tasks, a life challenge, anticipation for a future event. The symptoms of anxiety range from troubling and never stopping thoughts up to physical manifestation in the body - difficulty to breath, tightness in the chest, headache, digestive issues, difficulty to sleep, and many other. Yoga, mindfulness techniques (e....g.breathing and concentration) and proper diet can be incredibly helpful in dealing with anxiety and stress related issues. Proper breathing ensures that we don’t produce lactic acid in the blood which fuels anxiety. Proper physical activity helps increase production of serotonin, endorphins and other feel-good hormones, proper diet delivers components beneficial to lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety. Don't suffer in silence, many experience anxiety and turbulent, worrying mind. Book a consultation and take the first step towards the incredible inner peace and collected, controlled thoughts. Group Yoga classes are held in Bradford on Avon - www.wellmeyoganutri.com Private consultations can be booked at Neal's Yard in Bath - 01225 466 944, along with a fantastic range of de-stressing essential oils and supplements. And even better news, you will receive 15% discount voucher when you book your consultation with you to spend in the shop on the same day!

Yoga as Therapy - gentle, natural and even fun way to better health For centuries wise sages and accomplished yoga teachers have been using yoga poses as a potent preventative and curative healing tool. Once the condition is identified, a specific yoga asana (poses) sequence is designed to serve the recovery process of that condition. Yoga is a powerful healing art that has been practiced for thousands of years, often combined with a proper diet have profound effect on the hu...

Cooling down tips for hot summer times
It's been a glorious summer so far, but very unusual for the English climate and with that many people have found the heat rather difficult to take.
If you are one of the people finding the heat too much, struggling to sleep, find it difficult to breathe, experiencing dull, throbbing headache and general discomfort due to the heat, I hope those few tips may help you:
... * Needless to say - drink plenty of water! And i mean water, not sugary juices, or other substitutes to clean pure H2O.
* We think ice cream when it's hot, it's cold right! It'll cool us down? Wrong! That is a heating food that will fool you with it's cold sensation for few seconds and hours of internal heat waves will follow. Why is that? Majority of ice cream brands have very high Fat content. Fat is one of the most potent energy sources for our body, especially muscles and releases massive amount of calories (energy). Substitute: if you still would like to enjoy the cold sensation of this kind of food the following options may be a better fit - low calories, low carb and virtually no fat - Orange ice lolly, Tesco; Sainsbury's real fruit juice ice lolly; Waitrose seriously fruity mango sorbet; Asda Pop up ice lolly.
Adjusting during summer more towards plant based and less animal based diet will further cool down the internal heat and will help you cope with the external heat easier. You will also feel calmer and less frustrated, which often is aggravated by the hot weather. Good cooling foods are - natural yoghurt, cucumber, whole grains with their slow release of glucose into the blood (think of a nice bulgur summer salad with coriander, grilled courgettes, roasted cherry tomatoes and lemon juice), cumin, dill, lentils, leafy greens and so much more. Summer is rich with abundance of wonderful fresh produce that help to keep us cool and calm.
To that i'd add a powerful form of summer pranayama (breathing technique), called Sheetali or cooling breath. This is a very good breathing technique that is helpful not only during the hot summer days but also helps with the symptoms of menopause (hot flashes), eczema and other conditions that produce inner body heat. It is done by rolling the tongue into a tunnel and taking deep breath through that toungue-tunnel. An immediate cooling effect comes to the back of the through that spreads down the rest of the body and head.
For further help how to cope with the summer heat using nutrition and yoga, you can find me at Neal's Yard Remedies in Bath on Thursdays. Bookings can be made through the reception - 01225 466 944

Chamomile, lavender, anise hyssop, calendula, and echinacea are just a few plants to consider when planning a herbal tea garden. The trick is to grow the ones you love first and then test your boundaries with one or two new-to-you varieties.

Tired, stressed, back aching I popped in on a busy Saturday hoping to have a treatment - Was not disappointed, Wow I had a fabulous deep tissue massage with Jeremy Dymond. Super treatment rooms, I was transported away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds in the streets to a warm, welcoming, calming treatment room on the top floor of the old building. Jeremy listened and gave a very professional, thorough, holistic, calming & complete massage, I felt like I was walking on air after and drifted away from the shop to real life pain free. Wish I lived closer...
