Parklands Veterinary Group is a multi-discipline departmental veterinary practice where vets specialise in each specific species, i. e. small animal vets deal with small animal, farm with farm and equine with horses, pig vets with pigs only etc. Even within these departments we have vets specialising in specific areas e. g. Fertilitity, sheep AI, lameness, herd health etc.

Owner and patient care is undeniably our first concern and we promise caring, compassionate and value for money veterinary services. We set ourselves the highest of standards in veterinary service provision and are passionate about client education and preventative care.

We invest heavily in continuing education for all our Veterinary Surgeons, Nursing, Reception and Support staff and in supporting their further education, we aim to bring your animals the latest veterinary techniques and care.

Whilst we are a large practice with a State of the Art Veterinary facilities, with vets specialising in many areas, we are committed to providing one-to-one care in your local community.

🐈 Missing 🐈 Davy is less than 1 year old and is a male neutered cat. He’s been missing from his home on the Tullynahinnion Road since Thursday. He’s microchipped so if you find him or have seen him please contact the surgery on 028 25821238

Black male neutered cat found at lunch time today in the carpark of St Mary’s school Portglenone, not microchipped but clearly has an owner since he’s very friendly and well looked after! If you know who he belongs to please contact us on 028 25821239

Thinking of neutering your dog but not sure if it's the right thing to do? If you're not intending to breed from your bitch, we'd recommend spaying since it has numerous health benefits....

*FATTY FOODS* 'Just a little bit of turkey skin'...'Only a small bit of ham'...He may have licked out the gravy boat.... STOP RIGHT THERE. Any type of food that has a higher fat content than your dog is normally used to, can trigger vomiting and diarrhoea and a nasty run of pancreatitis which could hospitalise your dog. It may only seem like a small bit to yourself, because the human stomach system is used to variety but dogs and cats are not. Be careful to not be too heavy handed with the pet friendly treats either, as these can trigger tummy upset too. 028 258 21239 24 hr PARKLANDS PORTGLENONE EMERGENCY LINE

*BONES* Did you hear about the terrier who ate the whole christmas turkey? Apart from a hungry family on Christmas Day they had to deal with a very sick dog. Raw or cooks bones, small or large are all as dangerous as each other. Digestive enzymes can break down some bones once they get to the stomach but if sharp edges of the bones catch in the oesophagus or intestines disaster can happen. Best to save the risk and buy them a nice healthy rice bone or mash down there own food with warm water, Make into a dough and use festive cookie cutters to make their own festive treats :) 028 25821239 24 HR PARKLANDS PORTGLENONE EMERGENCY LINE

*SMALL TOYS* If a baby can hide a marble in is ear, just think of how many a yorkshire terrier could eat?! Which lego set are you going to buy and play with this christmas and get very annoyed when you can't find the last piece...coz Max the puppy thought it was a great teething toy and oops..he may have swallowed it! They do not always pass through the gastrointestinal tract and the further they go the more serious they can be. Be vigilant this Christmas :) 028 25821239 24hr PARKLANDS PORTGLENONE EMERGENCY LINE

*HOLLY, IVY AND MISTLETOE* 'The holly and the ivy, when they are fully grown'...may get chewed by your cat or dog and a lot of drool will form!! Admittedly not as dangerous as somethings previous mentioned, but can still cause enough mouth irritation to make your pet sick. 028 25821239 24 hr PARKLANDS PORTGLENONE EMERGENCY LINE

LOST Nala' has gone missing from the Townhill Road, Portglenone. She is very distinguishable as she was neutered last week and so still has her clip patch on her side. If anyone knows of anything please ring 028 25821239.

*SILICA GEL* Interesting fact.... have you ever noticed how these little sachets say DO NOT EAT or a little skull and crossbone on the packet. These little packets are actually NOT TOXIC just inedible.
