Poachers Pocket

Due to our water pipes being frozen, and having a treacherous car park, the Poachers Pocket will be closed today. Apologies to all that might have been looking to pop in for a roast and a pint in front of the fire. All those with bookings today are in the process of being contacted. Hopefully the issue will be resolved asap.

Another fantastic quiz night was held between 12 teams at the Poachers Pocket last night. Fantastic performances from Beards and Boobs and Let's Get Quizzical, but newcomers The Quizzeratti stole the show, coming in first place with 105.5 points - well played guys.

The next Poachers Pocket quiz will be held on Saturday 10th September. 7.30pm start. Usual procedure: £10 a team, maximum 6 players a side. Food will be served during the half time interval. Message or comment if you would like a team. Cheers

Thanks to all that came to last night's quiz. A very tight contest was settled bye a sudden-sudden death quiz-off between Team Turkey and Can the owner of a Volkswagen Golf please move their car, with Team Turkey eventually triumphing. Next quiz July/August time - look forward to seeing you all there!

The next Poachers Pocket Quiz will take place on Saturday 19th March, 7:30pm. We currently have a few spaces available, so please get in touch if you are interested in entering a team. Teams can consist of up to six people and it costs £10 to enter a team. £10 includes food which will be served up at half time. There will also be an optional bonus round on the night which teams can enter, with an instant monetary award for the winning team (Pointless bas...ed). The quiz is always good laugh, light hearted and challenging, so don't miss the opportunity to get involved!

Went there last night for my daughter's birthday. Huge choice for main meals and desserts although my main of Hunters Chicken left me too full for a dessert!!! Service was so good that my daughters dessert came out with a candle in it when the staff realised it was her birthday and she's 38 lol. Will most certainly be visiting again.

We had an absolutely wonderful evening. The food was out of this world as it always. Especially the lemon cheesecake. Thank you to Keith and all the staff for a wonderful start to our Christmas festivities.

We had a group of 14 last everyone’s meal was brought out bar mine which was a mixed grill,, 8 minutes later a mix grill was in front of me:)

Fresh hot and cooked to perfection:)

This is my favourite place to eat. I no longer even need to look at the menu, I know exactly what's on it, and the specials board! The food is really nice, portion sizes are huge, great value for money, staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. We've had our birthday outings, anniversaries, Christmas functions, girlie dinners, friend get togethers etc etc at the Poachers for the last 4 years (since I moved to ssm)

Stopped here today for a late lunch with my mum.The two young girls behind the bar were fantastic.They even brought the beautiful baileys cheese cake out with a candle in it and sang happy birthday to her.They both made her day.Thankyou, we will be back

So we had booked a table for 11 people. We pre ordered our main courses, which can I say we're absolutely delicious. The service was out of this world, so friendly. We ordered pudding on the night and they were just as outstanding.

Very good value for money with a warm welcome and extremely friendly service..

One of the best places- if not the best place in the area for dinner. Good honest pleasing and hearty food, served by warm and friendly staff. We have dinner there every trip down. Last time we had dinner 3 nights running and it never disappointed. A great pub with great staff and great food.

Fab place to eat fabulous menu lots of choice lovely surrounds and polite staff. What more can one want. Will be back.

Christmas party night there on Friday, as always the place was packed, as always the food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Really is one of the best, reliable , friendly places around, but don't tell anyone else, cos you have to book a table every night it's so good !

Absolutely unbelievable food at this pub! I have never had a fillet steak that has been so juicy and cooked so perfectly before. Great staff, great pub. Would be mad not to come back. My Wife and I were so impressed with everything about the 'Poachers pocket'.

Popped in the Sunday lunch on New Year's Day Great value, tasty and full of flavour. I personally prefer my beef on the rare side. But still Would highly recommend. My partner had the pork which was superb.

Excellent, lovely food and very friendly staff will definitely go again.
