About Portrush Parkrun
Portrush parkrun is a FREE weekly 5KM event for runners of all standards, which will take place evry Saturday morning at 09: 30 at East Strand Beach Portrush BT56 8AD. Starting 8th September 2012.
Portrush Parkrun Description
parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan.
It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful beach setting and get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!
Taking part is easy – just register before your first ever parkrun at www. parkrun.com and print off your bbarcode. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!
After the run, if you don’t have to get off straight away, there will be the chance to socialise with everyone at 55 Degrees North Cafe, who are offering a discount to all parkrunners; to maybe swap stories about your run that day, chat to other runners over a cup of tea or coffee and just be an important part of this new running community.
So whether you are a complete novice looking to get yourself started on your own "running journey" or a seasoned athlete wanting to use this as a part of your training schedule, you’re welcome to come along and join us.

Portrush parkrun #323 6th October 2018 On International parkrun day, our event director was off building relationships with our closest parkrun neighbour, so it was up to Sam LINTON and her merry band of volunteers to ensure that all went according to plan. And it couldn’t have been better. And lastly a couple of one of our fabulous cakes from this morning (well done Patricia and Phoebe) and our group of Scottish runners who touched down at 8.45am this morning and are heading back at 6.30pm, just so Laura Ritchie could celebrate 300 runs with us!

It's early days yet , but HQ have activated the Christmas compendium ( link attached)
This allows runners to see which events in the UK may be staging runs on Christmas Day or New Years Day, both or neither .
It should be noted that when an event shares a venue with a junior parkrun, as we do , only one can go ahead on either day.
... I've spoken with the junior team and , as you will see from the attached , there will be a 5k event on New Years Day at the usual time of 930am.
There will be no 5k event in Portrush on Christmas Day.
Whether or not there is a junior parkrun on Christmas Day in Portrush is up to them, so keep an eye out on their channels, as well as the attached compendium , which gets updated on a regular basis
