I am a happy girl today. I woke up this morning to find I have sold one of my original paintings. This one. What a nice start to the day.

Yesterday, I spent some time painting this gorgeous girl. A commission and, she will be off to her new home today! Please get in touch if you would like me to paint a pet portrait for you too!

COMMON BLUE BUTTERFLY (Female) A few days ago I asked you all for what I should paint next.
Lucky for me, one person Sally came up with the idea to paint a native wild animal and then, she suggested a butterfly. I wanted to give myself a challenge and paint something difficult. Something I had to really think, about how to achieve a realistic painting. ... I came up with a Common Blue butterfly. A pale blue hairy butterfly often seen here in the UK. The mail is rather plain (not patterned), and has a lot more blue over the wings whereas the female is more brown/grey with much less blue. Anyway, here she is in her full glory. I hope you like her. I will be painting the male in the next day or so. The photo doesn't really do this painting justice. It is much, much nicer in real life.

ALMOST THERE Just a few finishing touches to add to complete this portrait. Hopefully, I will finish it this evening.

I only managed to grab a few hours for painting this weekend and, it doesn't look as if I have made much progress. This is a couple of hours added on to my last work in progress picture. I am hoping to get this finished in the next day or so. There is still quite a lot to do to bring him to life.

MY NEXT PROJECT I have decided, that since my last three paintings have been wildlife subjects, to paint another pet portrait. A King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Here is the reference photo. More progress made last night and this morning. Still a fair bit to do, to bring him to life!

BALD EAGLE I didn't plan on painting last night, but there was nothing on TV for me, so I spent the evening painting. He is beginning to come together now. I will be adding more dark colours next. You have to paint the underneath colours first so that you get dimension to your painting. Watercolour is a transparent medium and the underlying layers show through.

Well, I managed to catch a couple of hours for some 'me' time this afternoon. I took the opportunity to start painting my American Bald Eagle. This is a couple of hours painting, there are many more to go.

I MUST BE MAD! I have started working on my Bald Eagle painting. Here is the drawing. I have darkened up the lines so that you can see them (well sort of), although for me they are very light. I will add more photos as I go along.
