About Shiatsu & Qigong Ni

This page gives information on Mindful Movement Qigong classes & Shiatsu massage treatments, plus other interesting stuff I find to help us live healthy lives.

Shiatsu & Qigong Ni Description

I have been a shiatsu practitioner since 2005 and a Qigong teacher since 2010. I moved to Coleraine from Oxford in 2017 and have started up a business offering shiatsu treatments and qigong classes.

Shiatsu is a Japanese therapy that helps that body's own self-healing systems to work and to bring balance to the body. Qigong is an ancient Chinese art that is a moving meditation. It also helps the body to remember how to heal itself. Both therapies help to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and enable us to deal with the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Models wanted! Saturday 15 September 2018. Mountsandel, Coleraine.
It's time to update my website (actually, it's way past time!) and I need some up to date photographs of me doing shiatsu. For this, I need some people willing to be photographed. Shiatsu is done clothed, so you would be wearing leggings/tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt or similar.
I will give a free shiatsu treatment to anyone who is prepared to be a model for me - we can work out suitable dates and times for... a treatment at the photoshoot, which is on Saturday 15 September and I will only need individuals for about an hour. If you are interested, please contact me and I'll give you the details.
If you want to see existing photos, go to www.sqni.co.uk Best not try this on a phone though - one reason why my website needs updated. If only my technical skills were as good as my shiatsu ones .......

If you are considering, or already following, a gluten-free way of life, this article may be helpful. The takeaway message for me is that we have little idea what is put into our foods, unfortunately. If you can make your own from scratch, that seems to be the way to go, although it's totally unrealistic for many people.

Garvagh Forest. The venue for the Time Trail today. Journey through time to forests of the past, the present and the future.

Is anyone up for a bit of time travelling? Garvagh People's Forest is a really special place. Come along for stone soup on Friday evening and to travel through the ages on Saturday from noon. https://www.facebook.com/events/170070051 9985619/?ti=cl

Interesting read. A small scale study suggesting that having a (specially trained) dog can help children diagnosed with ADHD.

Last Saturday we took advantage of the lovely sunshine on the north coast of Northern Ireland and did a session of Mindful Movement Qigong on the beach. Aran Lyons kindly did this wonderful video for me. I hope you enjoy it. https://bit.ly/2IZcUc0

How great is this?

As the weather has been so good, we've taken the opportunity to do Mindful Movement Qigong on the beach in Castlerock. Here is a very short video from Thursday of a form called Carrying the Moon.
I will be doing a FREE session tomorrow, Saturday at 11.00am for up to an hour on Castlerock Beach. Please come along and join in. I'm sorry that it's such short notice, but it's a wonderful setting. I will be near the ice cream van just before 11.00am. Hope to see you.

I recently had a conversation with Vonnie McWilliams about shiatsu - what it is, what it may be beneficial for, and so on. Here is a video of our conversation. Let me know what you think? https://youtu.be/A6Lg0LGGzKM

Another really good Mindful Movement Qigong session today in Garvagh Forest. Thank you so much to everyone who took part last week and today. This was my first experience of teaching in a forest and I loved it. The different colours, peace and birdsong were a real tonic, I feel totally revived. Thank you to #GarvaghDevelopmentTrust for inviting me to do these sessions and to Susan Evans from #MillburnComplementaryTherapy for connecting us.

Last Mindful Movement class in Garvagh Forest this Saturday, 9 June, 2pm-3pm. £5 for the class. We meet at the barrier near the Forestry offices and do the class in a beautiful clearing of beech trees nearby. Bring insect repellant, wear long sleeves and trousers - some midges like to join in!!

For anyone interested in a bit of the theory behind Qigong, here is a blog written by one of my teachers.

I met up with Vonnie McWilliams a few days ago and we recorded a little video about Mindful Movement Qigong. So, for anyone wanting to know what it is, here are some details and a demonstration of one movement called Lifting the Sky. Let me know what you think.

Hello. For those coming to Mindful Movement in Garvagh Forest today @2.00-3.00 pm. Meeting point is Forest Service offices at the Limavady Rd entrance to the forest. If you have it bring insect repellant in case midges are about! 😀
