Why the Brocante Fair was stopped today.
The last thing I wanted to have to do today was stop the fair, especially as many brave sellers had begun to set up their pitches. We had a meeting with the Safety and Paramedic officer and discussed with all the sellers. It was agreed by all that it was not safe to proceed with the fair as the risk of injury to a seller or a member of the public was too great.
A gazebo was destroyed by the wind despite being weighed down with sandbags... the wind was still able to lift it off the ground. We were forced to make the decision in the interests of safety and with regret, we had to call off the fair.
On my way home the road to Glastonbury was flooded and it began to snow heavily so I feel that we made the right call.
We plan to start the Somerset Brocante fairs again in March 2018 and we hope the weather is more kind to us.

CANCELLED! Due to dangerously high winds we have had to call off the fair. We tried to set up but one gazebo was damaged and despite weighing it down with sandbags and stones it still tried to take off. The winds were predicted to peak at 50 miles an hour. It was decided with the sellers, on-duty medical officer and the organisers that it was too dangerous to proceed. We are gutted to call off a fair and we hope we see everyone in March when the season starts again.

Only two days to go for the Christmas fair our last of the year until March 2018. We are optimistic about the weather as so far the forecast is about 12 hours late so the windy weather may go through on Saturday. Lots of new sellers this month including stained glass, art and crafts plus all the regular sellers.

The November Brocante fair has been canceled, this is because our last two fairs of the year were too close together and our sellers were split over both fairs. So to make one fair really great we are not doing a fair in November now.
We hope to see you all at the big Christmas Brocante Fair on December 10th 2017. Free parking all day throughout the Town. Loads of stalls and great Christmas gift ideas.
