About Taunton Rugby Football Club

Taunton RFC, home of the Taunton Titans, has long been established as one of the premier rugby clubs in Somerset.

Taunton Rugby Football Club Description

Taunton RFC facilities at the Towergate stadium are of the highest quality and we rate amongst the very best in the area when it comes to watching rugby.

Our semi-professional Taunton Titans are the premier team in Somerset, and the only side in 2012 /13 playing National League rugby in the County

The Second XV (Wariors) play in Somerset Premier and won the Somerset cup in 2019. Third XV (Wanderers) compete in Somerset 1.

The Amateur squad is run by Scott Goodsir and Rob Chilcott and there will always be a warm welcome for any player that wants to come and join in.

Training for the Amateurs is every Thursday from 7pm. E-mail goodsirscott69@gmail.com to talk in more detail or email.

A strong Veteran's side has been established and has a number of fixtures throughout the year.

The Colts have produced a host of players for the Amateur and Titans and are considered one of the strongest teams in the county.

Every Sunday the club is packed to bursting with the many youth teams competing on all 3 pitches.

Whatever your age, whatever your ability come and play for us. If watching is your thing, then come and watch us!

thanks a lot for hosting abercrave u13s yesterday in a mini festival we had an amazing welcome off everybody and a great sunday carvery as well to round off the day after 3 tough games

User

We were there for the Wurzels gig on Saturday night. The staff are friendly and attentive even with the large thirsty crowd eagerly emptying the cider coffers at Mach 3. It was a bit hot but when someone opened some windows all was fine. All in all a great night at a great venue.

User

We recently booked the rugby club for a private (lunchtime) function and the food & service were amazing. Very friendly staff couldn't have been more helpful, would recommend to all, many thanks, Bobbie Evans

We had our wedding on 27th Aug 2016 and to say we had a brilliant day is an understatement, Patrick and all the staff pulled out all the stops to give us the perfect venue for our afternoon and evening receptions. The food was beautiful as was the decor and the attention to detail, nothing was too much trouble.Anyone looking for a wedding venue need look no further in our opinion. We were even allowed on the pitch(weather permitting) with footballs and frisbee's much to the delight of the kids (big & small) including the bride and groom. Thanks again Patrick and all the staff from Mike and Grace.

User

We had a brilliant works party there with an ABBA tribute band.

The food was lovely and great value. Would definitely go again!

User

Visited twice now for a home game and carvery lunch (coming back in January and April)

HUGE COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF. For the numbers catered for, the food is hot plentiful and delicious! Club is friendly and comfortable and the rugby is excellent!

Thanks TRFC and Steve Wilson (George Bros)

This is tricky but...here goes. I attended the match against Chinnor this weekend as an impartial but an ardent fan of rugby played well. The game was very good with the result being a fair representation of the grit with which the Titans pressed their opponents in the final minutes of the match. My experience was marred only by a few ultra partisan members of the home crowd directing insulting and unsuitable comments to the match officials. An impassioned crowd is a joy but it does not take too many personally directed references to lineage, sexuality or visual impairment and general levels of disability towards the officials, as you might find at a football match, to make the experience uncomfortable and embarrassing.

The referee is as much a part of the modern game as the front row, the back row or the back line and accordingly is afforded the respect by players for the responsibility he takes in determining the nature and quality of the game. The referee and linesmen had a good game all in all. Without the benefit of a TMO they may have missed a marginally forward pass or two but the two yellow cards shown to Chinnor showed that the communication was good between officials.

I urge the Titans management to get in hand the few supporters to whom I refer and ensure that they are aware of the issues and to remind them that rugby holds the moral ground in terms of mutual respect shown to both players and match officials and that there is no place for football style support if we are to educate the next generation in the fundamental and guiding principles of our sport.

User

First time last Friday absolutely fantastic night great crowd fantastic atmosphere

User

Fantastic club which makes everyone welcome

User

Fantastic club full of fantastic people, if you're in the area go and see some great rugby from a grandstand with a friendly welcome!

User

Friendly staff, and reasonably priced drinks. We were there for the Wurzels, and they didn't disappoint. However, it was very very hot in there - a bit of air-conditioning wouldn't go amiss. There was a bit of a debate over the number of chairs allowed in the room which was just silly, but was resolved reasonably in the end. My biggest concern was the incredibly offensive DJ, who managed to be sexist and ageist at various times; he was also too loud and his voice was distorted all the time. Not sure if he was external or an employee though; if the former, don't book him again, if the latter, someone needs a serious word.
