MIK ARTISTIKS EGO TRIP Support from THE FRUKES Cabaret seating Saturday 3rd November £12 tickets (standard booking fees apply)... ______________________________________
The surreal punk, funk, electric comedy phenomenon MIK ARTISTIK’S EGO TRIP return to the West Country.
The three piece from Leeds have a growing national reputation and are proving to be one of the most interesting, unpredictable, and exciting acts on the circuit. Mik’s lyrical dexterity and the musical range of the band combine to make people laugh, cry, and throw themselves about. They should be on the national health and are a tonic in these troubled times.
BBC 6Music’s Gideon Coe regularly plays their tunes, Tom Robinson also , Keith Allen has one of the Band’s teapots, John Cooper Clarke called them “sensational”, and Glastonbury love them, this year is their 10th invite back to the Worthy Farm Festival on the trot.
Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip are a mix between John Shuttleworth, John Cooper Clarke and Jake Thackray. The band say they are influenced by people like Reeves & Mortimer, Half Man Half Biscuit and The Fall but their mix of Rock ’n’ Roll & dry West Yorkshire wit is unique.

The Sounds of Simon: A Tribute to Simon and Garfunkel
Sunday 10th November 2019
Doors 7pm / All seated
... £16.50 advance / £20 door (standard booking fees apply)
The SOUNDS OF SIMON
A Tribute to Simon and Garfunkel
From Sounds of Silence to The Rhythm of the Saints
As seen on BBC The One Show!
The Sounds of Simon is a tribute to the wonderful music of Paul Simon, through the years as one half of Simon and Garfunkel, to the enduring success of his solo career.
Come on a journey as the full band take you through the early Simon and Garfunkel albums, through the massive success of Bridge Over Troubled Water and on to the Grammy award winning success of Still Crazy After All These Years and Graceland.
Lose yourself to nostalgia as the full band play such classics as Mrs Robinson, The Boxer, The Sounds of Silence and You Can Call Me Al, The Obvious Child, as well as all the others that have established Paul Simon as one of the most successful songwriters of all time.
Paul and Art are played to perfection, bringing in elements of their famously fractious relationship, as well as replicating the beautiful harmonies flawlessly.
How does a young folksinger with dreams of singing rock and roll, go from writing songs of separation and loneliness and singing them with his childhood friend, to writing and producing grammy award winning albums that embrace influences from South Africa and Brazil? This show aims to find out, taking you on a journey across time and continent, sampling some of the finest music along the way.
With video clips, stories, and memories from the last 50+ years, this is a wonderful show filled with excellent music, nostalgia, and a genuine love for some great musicians.
This is the UK’s longest running tribute to Paul Simon. Come and see why!

“Ben is something of an expert on Paul Simon.” – BBC The One Show
“A world class act.” – The Hinckley Times
“The lead singers have excellent diction, wonderfully balanced harmonies and above all a friendly approach to audience contact. What a treat to listen to live sound with perfect volume.” The Melton Times.

Turin Brakes (Official) Invisible Storm Tour + special guest Eliza Shaddad Friday 5th October All standing
... Tickets: www.cheeseandgrain.com/event/turin-brakes Facebook Event: Turin Brakes + Eliza Shaddad at The Cheese and Grain - Frome
After an impressive 19 years together, seven studio albums and over a million records sold worldwide, they might be excused a bit of downtime. But no…….the estimable London 4-piece Turin Brakes released their eighth studio album ‘Invisible Storm’ in January 2018 on Cooking Vinyl.
The band - founder members Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, along with long-time bandmates Rob Allum and Eddie Myer - returned to their favourite bolthole Rockfield Studios in the Monmouth Valley where with producer Ali Staton they could absorb the vibes left hanging in the air by a long line of musical mavericks, sit down at the piano where Freddie recorded ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and let the music take shape, revealing the next stage in the journey.
Invisible Storm is big-picture music played on a small screen, refracted through lyrics that embrace the personal and the universal. Formed in Balham South London, Turin Brakes released their Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album The Optimist in 2001 followed by Ether Song in 2003 which featured the top 5 hit single Pain Killer (Summer Rain). One of the finest indie bands of the last decade with 7 top 40 hits to their name Turin Brakes are a band that’s weathered many Invisible Storms, are sure of who they are and what they’ve set out to do, and know that there’s always a story left to tell…

What a fabulous venue - so lucky to have it here in Frome, attracting a range of bands, comedians and other interesting events, and providing a focus for community groups, people wanting to use cafe, work hub space and everything else it offers!

User

Went to the Jason Manford set in December which was incredible!!! The tickets were seriously reasonable and the queuing really wasn't as bad as a couple of reviews suggest in my humble opinion! We had a fantastic night and I will definitely be looking out for more gigs to come to!

User

We went for the first time this new years eve, lovely and welcoming people/atmosphere, great band, good facilities and from what I can remember the wine was pretty good too

We enjoyed it so much we have tickets to attend 2 more events this month

User

The fact the cash machine regularly runs out of money, is testament to the fact it's a fabulous place you want to enjoy yourself in. The staff are never anything but polite, patient and accommodating. The events never less than professional and the quality of the acts they can draw is inspiring. 5* thumbs up from me!

The Cheese and Grain in Frome is a superb venue and the town is so fortunate to have it. The venue is used for a wide array of things, from networking and catching up with friends at the wonderful cafe with delightful homemade food, the many different markets, vast array of events and concerts as well as hot desking business facilities. The location is perfect with its central position and plenty of parking. All of this provided by a dedicated and hard working friendly team. It attracts an amazing array of clients, performers and presenters and Frome is incredibly lucky to have it. Well done Team Cheese and Grain! :-)

User

Something for everyone who gives a care happens here. You won't wan't to go to everything, that's for sure, and just as well as you wouldn't have the time to do it.

User

Just have to say how lucky we are to have such an amazing venue on our doorstep in Frome.

I was at the Martin Kemp gig on Friday night and it was fantastic, extremely hot but that is the nature of the place and the staff were amazing giving our crate loads of free water. Incidentally the staff are all wonderful and security do their job so well without being really officious or aggressive.

People come to Frome from miles away for our shows, in fact one lady I met with came especially from Adelaide in Australia for both nights to see Martin. (I was so pleased he threw his towel to her). Just an incredible night and I am looking forward to the next few I have booked.

User

I’ve been to a 2 gigs at the place. First to see Rhino’s Revenge and last night to see Limehouse Lizzy/Live Wire! Both have been amazing! The venue and staff are second to none! Location ideal with lots of free parking! Alcohol available in the foyer and concert hall! Only 2 urinals in the loo so a bit of a queue if you don’t time it right! Security were brilliant last night! Allowed people on the mosh pit to have their fun but stepped in when it got a little over exuberant! Keeping a look out for the next one! Keep up the good work!

User

I’ve been involved with this venue on many levels from being a ticket buyer, performing as a musician and hosting events. A great place, great people and great atmosphere. I highly recommend to anyone visiting the area to book into a live concert or attend one of their alternative events. I was blown away by the vegan fair and equally with The Foo Fighters in 2017. As a community enterprise, the community has much to be proud of. 5 stars from me! Keep up the good work!

User

I had the pleasure of seein PIL last night what a fantastic concert. The band were fantastic the sound and lights were top standard. John Lydon was great his vocals a superb instrument navigating over a hudge band sound.

I must say I have seen the Sex Pistols and I was expecting the old arrogant Mr Rotten but instead we had a fantastic singer polite talking to the audience in a very agreable way, a true artiste out presenting his fantastic songs to a more than receptive audience.

All in all a fantastic night out.

Only slight complaint the cider is a bit expensive, but unfortunalty Frome is so trendy these days we are suffering from allmost Lodon prices when going out.

Great night in a great venue, the new sound system which totally wipes out any memorys of the Cheese not being the best venue accoustically. Now with their new system they are as well equipped as any venue in the country.

User

Fantastic venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the Vegan Festival last weekend. I'm looking forward to the next one. It's great to have an event like this so local. Adequate parking. Didn't have to queue for too long considering the turn out and the food was great. I'm impressed that the cafe became served vegan food throughout the event.

User

Drove all the way from Nottingham last night to see the limehouse Lizzy and livewire gig. And was very surprised at how good the venue is. What a cracking little gem Cheese and grain is. In Nottingham we are spoilt with world class venues, the arena, concert hall and Rock City which year after year wins worlds best venue. But cheese and grain would rival them easily! Great staff, bar staff were great, beer was good, security were fantastic. Very welcoming venue and great atmosphere.

Only thing I would say is the venue needs more toilets.

But I will defo be making the 6 hour round trip again to see a gig in frome.

User

A fabulous venue with a wide variety of events so there is something for everyone. They also have a fabulous cafe and staff 5 stars no doubt !

User

The Cheese and Grain as a venue is amazing , but what a shambles the queuing and seating arrangement for Jason Manford was last night . Even he acknowledged the problem - his first crack was about it We arrived early around 6.15 , knowing full well there was unreserved seating , to join the queue . We were some of the lucky ones to be queuing in the foyer , not outside in the freezing cold. On gaining entry to the hall , we were guided to free seats ( 4 of them ) , to be asked to move by a lady 5 seats away as she was saving for her friends who hadn’t arrived ..............

Please please next time could you have a more organised / snaking / coned queuing system , and have allocate seats.

It was a great performance by Jason , my cheeks were sore because I laughed so much .

User

Met my sister and friend here for lunch yesterday, lovely food, good choice and quick service. We later returned to watch the Howard Donald DJ Set. Good parking, easy access, coat storage available, quick service at the bar and the hall was large enough to accommodate everyone without getting under each other’s feet. It was our first visit and would definitely come again 😊

User

Lovely little venue and a great show last night watching Jason Manford

Negatives - you need a better and fairer queuing system. I don't want my evening spoilt by people sneakily pushing in front of me from the bar area.

Also a woman had reserved 4 seats near the front for some people running late! You either have a system of unallocated seating or you don't. Small issues that can easily be addressed. Loved the show though.

User

an amazing night seeing s club and 5ive ruined by an abysmal system collecting coats. been queuing for 20 mins so far and not moved an closer to collecting my coat. I suggest you think of a new way of doing it for busy events in future. also queues for ladies loos meant I missed most of the support act.

User

Great venue but on one of the hottest nights of the year there was no ventilation for the packed venue. No doors open nor air conditioning. Completely unacceptable and very unpleasant. Also advertised as 1am finish but artist finished at 11pm and we were kicked out of chairs before our taxi arrived. Very unprofessional bouncers and club staff, thinking like we're funny but rude.

User

At Jason Manford queueing system is ridiculous as no allocated seating so left outside in the freezing cold for an age it took ages to get people in and direct to seating. The hall is packed, they've taken the wise decision NOT to open the main bar just a 3 foot bar in the foyer the queue is absolutely ridiculous we can not even get a bottle of water. Jason Manford excellent . But I suggest they never host a performance like this again without seriously rethinking the organisation. I won't be back. It's got a 3 * purely as we are laughing a lot.

User
