We were in the area and searched for places to eat and The Firehouse came up so we thought we'd give it a go. What a splendid find it was. We went midweek and had to eat in the bar area as we hadn't booked (recommend you book whatever the day as it's very popular) though we were treated the same as if we had eaten in the restaurant. The barman was very convivial and couldn't do enough for us. I'd also recommend the OPA (oak, pear, apple) cider if it's on when you go (it is a guest cider). I had the calzone which was superb as they have their own pizza oven. Outstanding find and would make the effort to go there again when in Somerset. Can't recommend it enough, as you can probably tell

User

Visited a last night as a group of 18. Service was amazing and the quality of food was superb. 18 very full bellies and very very happy customers who all said they would return. Fantastic, and our waiter was just so helpful and a real credit to your company

User

Super friendly servers, delicious food, great selection of food & drinks, fresh & tasty, quirky surroundings, relaxed atmosphere, great eating experience

User

Stopped on mountain bike ride with two others sat in beer garden , went in ordered food and drinks staff were very friendly and efficient, food came out even though it was busy ( Friday evening ) quite quickly couldn’t fault service or food happy to go again 👍

User

Only stopped in for a drink but the vibe was great it turned into a few more. Really nicely done out, quick service, got to enjoy the happy hour (2 hours) and even some free pizza kindly offered out by the owner to the customers. Seems like there's lots of activity available ongoing. Looks like a great example of what a community pub should be. Best wishes for the future, I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town.

User

Lovely food and well presented.

Informal, out of the way place.

If only I could add more stars!

This really is a hidden gem of Somerset!

Food is amazing!!!!!! Pizza’s are top, top notch!

Fantastic choice of drinks!

The staff are fantastic! So friendly and welcoming! Amazing.

Can’t wait to be back!

User

Had this place recommended by a friend, went for lunch and was really impressed! Really good menu with a lot of choice, food was really good and the venue was equally as impressive! Staff all very friendly and helpful had a great experience. Will defo be returning

User

Had a lovely meal here! The first time we had visited and were not disappointed! There was a group of 7 of us and each of us LOVED our food, reasonably price and absolutely delicious!!!

The building was stunning, the atmosphere and general vibe was second to none! The bar looked gorgeous and I saw the cocktails being made which looked beautiful, will be coming back to try them!!

I have minor criticism which is just slightly down to service. The FOH staff were friendly, smiley and really lovely. Although some things may of been missed, on arrival we were pointed through to the bar to meet some of our party, we had our drinks etc but after about 25 minutes I had to walk around the restaurant looking to find someone to find our table, I was told to go to the host on the front desk, she then told me we were downstairs in the vault, so I grabbed my party and we walked around and sat ourselves at an empty table and just assumed that was for us. The waitress then came to us asking us if we were ready to order, however we hadn’t been given any menus at this point.

I feel a little more attentiveness would of been better at this point, coming from a hospitality industry, I would think FOH should ask a party if they are ready to be seated, show them to their table and hand menus rather than just explaining where the table was.

I rang to book our table and ended up ringing around 13 times from between 12pm and 4.30pm, the phone wasn’t answered so I emailed and sent a facebook message which still haven’t been replied to.

The phone was finally answered but by this point I was tempted to book the pub down the road in fear if we drove 30 minutes and just turned up we wouldn’t get a table.

I think if you have a ‘host’, albeit an extremely busy one, they should still be in charge of answering phone calls. I’d be concerned as a manager, that is potentially 13 bookings you could of missed which in turn is A LOT of money to potentially lose!

However, few niggles a side, I think it’s absolutely worth every penny and a definite must if you’re in the area, I’ve already recommended to friends!! Definitely 5* from me! Can’t wait to come back.

User

Great food very friendly staff not cheap but well worth it good menu will be going back again

User

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the Firehouse today. Food is both delicious and presented beautifully- there is a true passion for the whole experience. Thank you! I'll be back

User

Brought my dad for Father's day Sunday lunch. It was all gorgeous. The service . The food. Beautiful. And I have to say I was lucky enough to be taken to Tom kerridges a couple years ago for Sunday lunch but the beef I had yesterday was better. Well done everyone and thank you x

User

Beautiful decor, friendly staff , we really enjoyed the quiz night that you hold once a month , pizza , drink and quiz all for just £10, highly recommend, we'll definitely be back

User

Amazing food! Best belly pork I have ever had! Great service and really lovely quirky pub. Highly recommend

User

Very yummy pizzas, brownie and mocktails! Cannot fault the food or drink. However, we’re not given spoons for pudding so about 10 minutes later I had to get up and ask for spoons, and when we wanted the bill the waiter was no where to be seen, so again, had to get up and find someone. On our bill they put down a few wrong items but quickly corrected when we mentioned. Overal, great visit... but just a few things need to be polished! Thank you Firehouse team on Sunday 25th Feb evening.

User

Lovely setting, the building is done to a high spec inside. Food good. My only fault would be the paper napkins let’s it down as they are trying to be top end dining. The noise from bar didn’t bother me but it may some people ..... we were glad we were upstairs. As it was mother’s day we booked early for 12.30, our waitress was very good at her job and very friendly. We will definitely go again 👍

User

My chicken dish was really delicious. But my husband wasn’t happy with the pork belly. Not crispy anough he says. Service was good. Had to wait a while but didn’t mind that.

May return. Not sure.

User

Called in for lunch here with my husband. The food is okay but not stunning for the price, and found the place lacked atmosphere. Sadly not somewhere we would visit again.

User

Disappointed

After being here several times, and bringing friends, having spent a large amount of money each time, we were let down.

We came to the firehouse for a quick meal for my birthday, before going away for some time on business.

The atmosphere was cold in the bar, and the staff were more interested in the England football game.....i tried to understand this and let it go.

Next we were seated in a window seat in full sun.... with the sun in our eyes we asked to move tables as there were many spare, but the blinds were put down and were made to feel like we should stay at the same table.....again, this we did with no complaints.

The food came out hot, but my steak was ordered medium/rare and was delivered medium/well at best. Once again, we said nothing and tried to enjoy our evening.

Next we retired to the bar to watch the last minutes of the football before returning home.... at which point I moved my chair so that my son could sit on my knee to watch the dying moments of the football, and caught a lamp in the window sill.

The lamp and the shade were not broken, just a screw collar which is sold in hardware stores for pence...at this point the bar manger said ‘how would you like it if I came into your home and broke your lamp’ and was generally rude about the whole situation....at this point the evening took its final turn for the worse.

Rather than being pleasant, or even understanding, the (believed to be) head barman, was extremely rude and non understanding about the COMPLETE ACCIDENT that occurred. At this pint we left, probably never to return.

Obviously this was a complete accident, I apologised for the issue, and the chair was already caught under the edge of the lamp prior to me moving it to make my son and I able to see the tv.

In general, the waitresses are great, and the building is lovely, but there is a very big need in an improvement in general people skills from the management, and an improvement in the food quality.
