Born in Essex, Scott Lavene was raised on power ballads, punk and swearing. In bands since his teens, Scott travelled about, scratching out a living with deadbeat jobs trying to find something to cling to. After couple of years in France and a brief stint in New York, including a playing at the infamous CBGB’s Scott returned to London and came close to a major label deal with his sordid songs.

The ‘Sunday Service’ afternoon session will feature live music from Me For Queen and her band.
The alias of songwriter Mary Erskine presents a set of soulful folk storytelling with a contemporary edge.
Years of classical training together with a blues guitarist for a father make for an interesting mix of soul and folk. Me For Queen’s piano-based songs draw obvious comparisons to Regina Spektor and Carol King but manage to fuse hints of Kate Bush and Laura J Martin.

Another lovely roast dinner , fab best roast dinner in deal love it!! And lighthouse lovely pub me and my husband love coming in x

I have lots of 'second homes' in the Deal - Sandwich area. Establishments I go to where I walk in the door and the warm welcome is palpable - this is never truer than at The Lighthouse. The musical fraternity that is associated with this fantastic venue have enriched my soul for a few years now. And to top all that the fare on offer is of an exemplorary nature. If you appreciate good beer / cider / wine, excellent company and musicianship of the highest standard you will NOT beat The Lighthouse.

Had a super time last night performing at Stand-up on the Strand. David & James are so lovely and the crowd was just awesome. This is a very fun night of comedy so if you're anywhere nearby, definitely make the effort to go! XO

For the past year I have attended poetry nights once a month at The Lighthouse.

It has helped me tremendously expand my writing and confidence at Spoken Word open mic sessions.



I have enjoyed listening and learning from others as they recite their stanzas and sestinas and have heard some great poems and poets.



Once again Poetry was spoken this Thursday 26th April, sadly its last monthly spot. What was needed was for all those who love poetry to fill the bar from near and far and if wanting recite a poem or two.



Poetry is the rising art of our world. It's like Marmite, you either hate or love it and it's a place where those without fruitless talent can express themselves without fear and be loved forever...well five minutes at least!



So I made for a calling for all Poets, make it night at The Lighthouse along The Strand, Deal.



And it worked. This last night a few new ones made it, fresh faces to brave it at the mic. I am sure for one young lady she will be back...after all it's amazing what happens to our flatulence!

Food was on point, best roast I’ve had in Deal and live music at 4pm chilled environment lovely staff can’t fault it one bit xx

Fantastic roast and my favourite Banoffe pie for pudding, service was outstanding too. We will be back xx

Discovered this place literally two days after moving to Deal (well Walmer actually) just over a year ago. Been to a lot of music events there and not once disappointed and often amazed beyond reasonable expectations for pub music. Not yet tried any comedy nights or quiz nights or any food events (although the Italian and Reggae Roast sessions are on my wish list of things to do here) but everything the Hattons and their friendly staff do seems to work a treat.

By far best roast dinner in Deal. Absolutely spot on will definitely be back!

Best Roast around everything cooked to perfection and homemade not frozen x it's not often I rate somewhere 10/10 this place defiantly rates beyond this x great atmosphere and lovely staff friendly and helpful will be back on a regular basis as it's near enough on my door step ! So much food also 3 of us was enough for 4 people x

Although I dont live in Deal this is my go to place when we come down. We love the music and how friendly everyone is. I am as happy to come here by myself or with family and friends - to me that says a lot about an establishment. There is a wide choice of live music but also a place to chill and chat.

The whole place and atmosphere was superb. The only downer was the roast beef that came up a bit tough. The chicken, roast tatties, veggies and everything else was great hence the 4*.

So we saw the pub today in our hunt for somewhere to eat. Music and craft beers - what more could we want. Unfortunately, they were completely booked out. However, I think they deserve the 4 � because they were friendly, welcoming, and so genuinely sad they couldn't accommodate us, that they called another pub for us and booked us a table. I'm saving the last star for when we finally get to eat there, but I'm sure it will be worth it.
