we went to smugglers tunnel onto the beach then walked round then we went for a drink at the Ness Sat outside overlooking the bay enjoying the view. The Ness is really nice staff are very friendly and helpful.we will definitely be going there again.

User

We frequent The Ness from time to time, usually pop in for a vino after walking the dog on the beach, first time we’ve dined here (valentines day) have to say the food was amazing, the service exceptional....very recommended whether it’s for a drink or a bite to eat....

User

The breakfast was delicious.

A big thank you to the chef Emma.

Your eggs were perfect .

Perfect setting with great views.

The staff were all very friendly and very very helpful.

Would recommend to anyone.

The Ness is situated in a stunning area; it's a beautiful pub in a beautiful location. Friendly stuff and lovely interiors, it's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

User

My family and I love The Ness. The atmosphere is so relaxed, cosy and even romantic (when we don't have the two little peeps in tow). We recently came to visit family and stayed in Shaldon for a week, two nights of which we ate here. The first night was exceptionally busy and our table was really quite a wait, but we were offered an alternative (which we turned down as we didn't mind waiting). My dad's starter didn't arrive with ours and when we checked whether it was coming we got so many apologies and a bottle of wine on the house - I mean, you can't really get much better customer service than that!

The staff are so friendly and attentive - nothing is too much trouble.

Now I cone to the steak... Twice three of us adults had the steak and both times it was superb and cooked to perfection. We will be visiting Shaldon again in the very near future and will certainly be booking ourselves in for more delicious food in lovely surroundings as soon as we can!

User

Lovely evening, table of 8 of us and all came out in good time and Hot! Very friendly funny staff. Would defiantly recommend

User

I had my 30th birthday party here on Saturday (joint party with my dads 65th) and just wanted to say thank you to all the staff for being so great on the night. Everyone commented on how nice the bar staff were & how lovely the mini bowl food was! Everyone was very accommodating & we all had a fantastic night!

User

Enjoyed a lovely lunch

The crab 🦀 was really fresh and so tasty.

The view and atmosphere lovely with friendly staff well done all x

User

Amazing place, awesome staff, great food. What more could you want?

User

The staff could not have been more helpful and looked like they were enjoying their jobs. What a great team. We had roast dinner today which was lovely the only comment we would have - the beef was nowhere near cooked enough and there were no prices or a drinks menu..and the prices were a little high . But definetly will return as it's such a fabulous setting

User

I didn't go up to the Ness house yesterday. We went to the picnic field opposite. But it was lovely seeing people relaxing and enjoying the afternoon at the Ness.

I haven't been to the Ness House for quite some time, but have been, and known for many years. Would be very sad, if it was not here terrible actually.!

A lovely area.

My sister, Susan married Martin Gandar, at St Nicholas Church in Ringmore, followed by a lovely wedding reception at the Ness House.

User

Had a lovely date afternoon at The Ness. Good food and friendly staff. Plus the beach is round the corner.

User

Arrived 19:15 for a 19:30 reservation - Party of 4.

Main meal eventually arrived 21:30 - so a 2 how wait - the manager who initially treated our complaint as a joke initially offered no explanation - no apology - and left all the waiting staff to take all the flack from many of the customers.

Many customers just got up and left.

So if you book a table here - I suggest you eat first and be very patient waiting for your meal to arrive.

I would never eat at this place again and was discussted with the Managers approach.

User

The food wasn’t up to its normal standard as we visit quite regularly. Staff didn’t seem to know what was on or off the menu. Will give it a miss for a while and see if it improves when we decide to visit again.

User

The food and staff were lovely, however on wanting to enjoy a quiet evening meal this was not meant to be! An extremely loud band started to play at around 9pm hence us leaving at 9.15.

Disappointed because at no point were we told of said band playing this evening either before booking the table or upon arrival. An upsetting ending to what would have been a lovely evening.

User

The food was not up to what I had expected meals we ordered were not cooked and service was slow. Sides were brought late when meal was nearly finished when mentioned to staff a very poor reduction was offered.I have visited this on many occasions will not be going again

User

Lovely hotel, beautifully appointed,!fantastic views, polite and helpful staff. However.....We both ordered seafood 'fish and chips' at £13.00 per. Disappointed with the small amount of battered fish bits and a lot of overly salted 'skinny' chips. Over-pricing is one thing, but pre-salting chips does nothing for your clientele who suffer with hypertension (high blood pressure). Excess salt could harm them - wake up!

User

Was very disappointed!

Went in for some lunch yesterday (25/06) I appreciate it was busy so there was a wait of 35/40 mins now I can understand this as I’m a chef and have the same problem where I work. After approx an hour we were told that due to a busy weekend they had run out of products and their delivery was running late so if we’d like a complimentary drink we were more than welcome also someone had been sent out to a local shop to source the products for our Caesar Salads and it would only be another 15 mins! Well after approx another 30 mins at least, our salads arrived. Now I paid £12.75 for a large Chicken Caesar Salad, what arrived was in my mind not even worth £6.75!!! It was sat in the middle of the plate and made up of some little gem leaves, 3/4 bits of sun dried tomato, some chicken and croutons that were just bits of bread not croutons!! By now over 1.5 hours had passed and if I hadn’t been so hungry I would have sent it back and said I wanted a refund, but I ate it and left. Unfortunately it ruined what was a lovely day out in Teignmouth and Shaldon I won’t be back to The Ness Hotel.

Pint of lager and a bottle of lager just under £10..........same round in the Newquay teignmouth £7..............madness!!!!
