Had a lovely meal here tonight for my husbands birthday, could not fault the service from Anne the waitress she was brilliant in organising everything for us.

Customer service was spot on feel at ease and very welcome any time we have been their food and drinks were great couldn't ask for a better evening out to relax

First time last night at this restaurant, system has obviously changed as you order food and drinks at the bar with your table number. Staff cleared plates away very politely and timeously only thing missing was perhaps a drinks menu could have been on the table with the other menus. All in all a good meal.

Been to the waterwheel several times now and I generally get the carvery as the one time I ordered from the menu the food took over an hour to come. I feel that their selection of vegetables can be poor at times. Also, I always find their vegetables to be way too undercooked. Never found the roast potatoes particularly appetising either - generally also too hard inside. Last time me and my family went last week was probably the worst. The carrots couldn’t have been cooked for longer than 2 minutes it was pretty bad. We told the waitress about this and received half a refund. So as far as customer services goes this place has always been great. Always found the staff to be lovely too.

Usual great fast service but food was a bit off , my fish was very hard and 2 thirds inedible, husbands half chicken with piri piri sauce baffled us , why pour sauce over chicken skin ? You don’t eat skin so the sauce is waisted , it would be better in a pot to pour over yourself , bit dissatisfied.

My wife and i and my 6 year old son were there yesterday. We always eat there when we are on the mainland doing shopping and the food has always been great but yesterday it was far from good. My wife and i had the carvery and my 6 year old son had the chicken diopers chips and peas. The chicken dippers looked as though they were cooked to within an inch of their life. They were very very dark in colour. The carvery was very poor. The meat was ok had better. Yorkshire puddings were not cooked properly. Went to take pigs in blankets but was told i had to pay for them seperately. Other veg was way overcooked to the pount of mush ie the caulifloour. Gravy was tasteless and we had to go and get our own cutlery (good job we knew where it was kept) all in all very poor. Didnt complain because i hate making a fuss and it was our first bad experience but has put us off for future visits.

My first time at the waterwheel. Was hoping that it was as good as the Marstons pubs in Durham area namely the Newton Grange that I used. I think that some more staff behind bar would help . Meal was ok.. but hopefully it would all improve as warm cosy atmosphere which lends itself to enjoying a nice meal. Hopefully the next time i go with my partner I can improve the rating i give.

Seems the process has changed, now it's table service only....sounds great in principle



I watched incredulously as our waitress had to take the orders and get our drinks, but only after the starter plates were lifted, twice, it took 30 to 35 minutes for drinks to be delivered to our table.



The food was what it always is, which is OK, but the new wait on ordering and getting your drinks via table service was so frustrating... I'm not sure we'll be back

Partner and I had lunch few weeks ago ..... waited ages for food and when food was served was very uninspired....... steak pie and a burger .... steak pie was like one out of a tin and burger had no taste at all ! Disappointed � staff are normally on ball but we were not informed of wait for meal when ordering .... had a boot full of shopping that was near defrosted . Won’t be back tbh .....

My mum and dad got Christmas vouchers and had been in the past and didn’t like the food so that is why we visited yesterday . The staff were lovely and helpful. The food wasn’t great!!! And the price for a bottle of prosecco was very over priced for the establishments location. Sorry but wouldn’t recommend �

Came here with my gran on saturday, both ordered fish and chips and to say the fish was tasteless is an understatement! The staff were lovely in serving us etc but the meal itself was not worth the £7.95 each, we left without saying anything however we wouldnt go back as its the second time the meal hasn’t been to standard

Ordered 3 meals, 2 steaks which were fine and a fish and chips where the fish was inedible for a majority of the fish and this put the person off the rest of their meal and spoiled a birthday meal.



Pointed this out to the server and was given the reply of the chef will pass it on to the supplier, did not receive an apology or anything to make up for the disappointing meal.

Had the most awful meal curry was like the cheapest sauce said to waitress who seemed unconcerned we were disappointed with meal and shrugged currys are pre packed ... This is not stated on menu maybe time to change supplier!!
